The first-ever Professional Pillow Fighting Championship (PFC) took place in Florida on January 29, 2022. There were a total of 24 competitors, 16 men, and eight women. Contestants of the competition included a lineup of individuals who have a history in combat sport. PFC’s rules are simple:- in the squared circle, two competitors enter armed with a pillow. A contest consists of three rounds of 90 seconds duration each. Contestant laying the most strikers to the opponent in the face is determined as the winner. PFC fighters at the maiden event included UFC fighters Marcus Brimage and Markus Perez, U.S. Marines Colton Cleveland and Vince Edme, Brazilian UFC combatant Istela Nunes. Istela Nunes and Hauley Tillman were crowned as champions in the women’s and men’s divisions, respectively. “There’s hardcore aggression with pillow fighting, but nobody gets hurt. It’s hardcore swinging with specialised pillows”. He went on to mention “You can call it an alternative sport, but we think it’s going to have mainstream appeal”.
