Beastie Boys will be honored with their own street name in New York City’s Lower East Side after an initial proposal was rejected in[2014](https://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20140129/lower-east-side/beastie-boys-square-street-naming-rejected-by-community-board/). The renewed application was approved by the New York City Council, which has ‘voted to officially bestow the name “[Beastie Boys](https://variety.com/t/beastie-boys/) Square” upon the intersection of Ludlow Street and Rivington Street in New York City,’ [according](https://variety.com/2022/music/news/beastie-boys-sqaure-new-york-city-1235318451/) to Variety.  The council member [said](https://variety.com/2022/music/news/beastie-boys-sqaure-new-york-city-1235318451/) the bill will be called up for a vote in several weeks, and then it will be passed subsequently. At the moment, the bill is awaiting the signature of Mayor Eric Adams.
