# Drum&BassArena Awards 2022 – Full List of Winners

The drum & bass community’s yearly ritual of coming together and celebrating the best acts, tracks, record labels and more, has just taken place! We will take you through the winners of the Drum&BassArena Awards 2022.

Another year has passed with drum & bass amongst the top mentions of the electronic music scene output. DnB has reached global heights, with some smashing tracks from the genre popping up in places like [FIFA](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2022/10/20/bass-music-songs-used-for-fifa-2023-soundtrack)‘s official soundtracks, or featuring at the world’s biggest music festivals, to mention a few notable achievements.

After another smashing year, the Drum&BassArena Awards draws the scene together annually to celebrate the best of the best. Drum&BassArena is an entity that’s been pushing the genre for the 26th year in 2022, and this year’s award marks its 13th edition, with the first one being in 2009.

There has been groundbreaking music being released from day one of this year; and unlike the last year, when we relied heavily on livestreams to keep us going, this year is when drum & bass as a genre tore it apart in its truest sense. The heads have voted for who they thought was the best in their opinion, and here is how the awards went down –

Starting with the Best Producer and Best Track awards, which were bagged by drum & bass titan [Sub Focus](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2022/10/11/sub-focus-to-kick-off-his-new-zealand-tour-2022-at-union-hall), who has been on a story-telling mission this year. There are some breathtaking selectors in the genre and the **Best DJ** is always up for debate, but very few will argue that [A.M.C](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2022/08/02/a-m-c-junk-mails-turbo-charged-drum-bass), who has bagged the award for the fifth time in a row, deserves this recognition for his otherworldly abilities behind the decks.

There were some incredible albums released this year from the likes of [Justin Hawkes](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2022/11/02/justin-hawkes-drops-a-sensational-debut-album), [IMANU](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2022/09/23/tfword-review-imanus-debut-album-unfold), and Workforce to name a few; but [Chase & Status](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2022/06/16/tfword-review-chase-status-what-came-before), having done the thankless job of bringing the wider spectrum of dance music into drum & bass over the years, won the award for the **Best Album** for their genre-bending long release – [‘What Came Before](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lDY1IpFUumVuiHOONdYOOjg8VL_xYgEBc).’

With stalwarts flying the drum & bass flag higher than ever, there have been some fantastic newcomers who have swept the scene with their music. Goddard, who has consistently put drum & bass on the official music charts, bagged the Best Newcomer award, with The Caracal Project and [Nia Archives](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2022/11/15/nia-archives-leads-the-charge-on-the-jungle-movement) taking the second and third positions, respectively.

Drum & bass has been blessed with labels that are constantly pushing the envelope with nearly every release, and their contribution to the genre cannot be overstated. [Hospital Records](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2022/06/20/soulvent-meets-hospital-records-on-a-mammoth-v-a), one of the top global representatives of drum & bass, has won the award for best label at all but three of Drum&BassArena’s previous editions. The label pulled out of the award to let others share the limelight (massive salute to the Hospital crew), and Born On Road, who stood second last year, went one place up to bag the award for the **Best Label**at the 2022 edition.

Following the best label came the best newcomer label, a fiercely contested category, considering the amount of new labels at the top of their game this year; but Invicta Audio, who took the second spot last year, stepped one spot up to grab the **Best Newcomer Label** award.

Vocalists have always played an important role in drum & bass by adding depth and soul to the genre’s rapid style of production. There are some insanely talented vocalists that the genre has on offer, and A Little Sound took the spot for the **Best Vocalist,**with her gorgeous vocal work on some of the best tunes released this year. The best vocalist award was followed by the **Best MC** award, which Inja swept once again, making it his fifth award in as many years.

Along with originals, there has been a plethora of reworks from across the genre, and the **Best Remix**award was another difficult one to choose from. Goddard was nominated once again for his remix of Cat Burns’ ‘Go,’ followed by Break, who remixed Total Science’s seminal ‘Squash’ this year. The best remix, however, was awarded to [Camo & Krooked](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2021/10/28/camo-krookeds-realm-of-swanky-drum-bass) [and Mefjus](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2022/04/13/camo-krooked-and-mefjus-reveal-new-label-modus) for the irresistible spin on The Prodigy’s ‘Breath.’

The **Best Live Stream** and **Best Artwork** awards were two new categories that were added [last year](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2021/12/15/drumbassarena-awards-2021-the-winners). After Dom Whiting bagged last year’s award, A.M.C was handed the accolade for the best livestream, for his DJ set at this year’s Let It Roll festival. The best artwork award was given to Souped Up Records for their artwork on label boss Serum’s remix of Bou & Trigga’s ‘Veteran.’

Clubs and festivals are an important cog within the drum & bass infrastructure, and it is only fair that we celebrate the monumental effort they put into providing artists with a platform to showcase their skills. The **Best Club** award went to [Printworks London](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2022/07/14/londons-iconic-printworks-nightclub-will-shut-forever-as-its-replaced-by-offices) – a no-brainer, whereas the **Best Festival** awardwas rewarded to Boomtown, which celebrated a sensational comeback edition this year.

Finally, John B was awarded the Critics’ Choice Award for his work in drum & bass for over two decades, and for his creative livestreams that kept us going during the COVID-19 lockdown. To close another fantastic edition of the Drum&BassArena Awards, Jay Bulletproof, one of the most important names in drum & bass, was given a fitting tribute after his [tragic loss](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2022/09/30/new-zealand-dnb-pioneer-bulletproof-has-died) this year. The event also honored MC Skibadee, the pioneer of pioneers, who was also taken away from us this year, awarding the late artist with the **Hall Of Fame** award for his unparalleled contribution to jungle and drum & bass.
