[Denver C](https://www.ticketfairy.com/da/word/author/denverctf.md) 11 december 2023 · 3 min. læsning ***Bengaluru-based multi-genre artist INGA, unmissable for her vocal dexterity in folk, jazz, pop, and rock music, has released a new single ‘Blown My Cover,’ in tandem with a crisp performance music video.*** INGA, the alias of musician Aishwarya Sridharan, who was named NEXA Music S2 Winner by Oscar winner A.R. Rahman, follows up her previous musical exploits ‘Days Go By’ and ‘Bad Intentions’ with a finger-snapping and feet-tapping jazz/blues offering ‘Blown My Cover.’ The tune was weaved together on a humid afternoon in Mumbai while inebriated, and it poetically seizes the realization of a lack of purpose as a result of alcohol misuse. The single tidily opens with rhythmic bass plucks, followed by steady percussion action and flowing key segments that lay the sonic foundation of the piece. INGA’s vocals soar through, alternating between light sombre themes and robust harmonious notes. Don’t miss the slick key arrangement that sits halfway into the composition. We had an opportunity to converse with INGA, who delved into her musical upbringing, songwriting, and style of music. She says, “Growing up, my older brother would play Jethro Tull or The Who in the same breath as Indian classical singer Pt. Kumar Gandharva. Early training in Hindustani Vocals and later in Jazz and blues have allowed me to move beyond genre whilst thinking of a song as a story.” Making note of the singer/songwriter’s songwriting aspect of her music, INGA reveals, “I think of songs as stories. Stories of my character occupying the different emotional spaces I’m living in at that time. Genre then becomes secondary because I’m now thinking in moving images much akin to film.” “Art allows me the margin to live a grander life than I could’ve ever imagined growing up,” she concluded.
