This was on 19 August 1982, at the General Assembly’s emergency special session on the question of Palestine and then decided to commemorate 4 June of each year as the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression. The most vulnerable members of society, such as children, are most affected by the consequences of war when an armed conflict breaks out. The purpose of the day is to acknowledge the pain suffered by these children. Throughout the world, many children are the victims of physical, mental, and emotional abuse in situations like these. The International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression affirms the UN’s commitment to protecting the rights of children. It causes vulnerability to the sun and bright light and as a result, almost all people with albinism are visually impaired. They are also prone to developing skin cancer and there is no cure for the absence of melanin which is central to albinism. Discrimination, violence and abuse of people with albinism is a major concern for all affected and society as a whole and therefore, Jun 13 is marked as International Albinism Awareness Day. According to WHO, elder abuse can be [defined](https://www.un.org/en/observances/elder-abuse-awareness-day)as “a single, or repeated act, or lack of appropriate action, occurring within any relationship, where there is an expectation of trust, which causes harm or distress to an older person.” It can take various forms such as physical, psychological or emotional, sexual and financial abuse and can also be the [result](https://www.un.org/en/observances/elder-abuse-awareness-day) of intentional or unintentional neglect. In many parts of the world elder abuse occurs with little recognition or response and until recently, this serious social problem was hidden from the public view. It was considered mostly a private matter as even today elder abuse continues to be a taboo. It is mostly underestimated. This happens in arid, semi-arid, and dry sub-humid areas caused primarily by human activities and climatic variations.
