Therefore the first week of August is observed as ‘World Breastfeeding Week’. As breastmilk and breastfeeding can provide[ benefits](https://www.awarenessdays.com/awareness-days-calendar/world-breastfeeding-week-2022/) to both the health and welfare of babies, it is the ideal food for infants, which ensures a tiny human’s health and survival. The antibodies in breastmilk [help](https://www.awarenessdays.com/awareness-days-calendar/world-breastfeeding-week-2022/) protect against many common childhood illnesses.  The World Breastfeeding Week also pushes forth a conversation about maternal health. The Indigenous people, who, according to the United Nations, “[make up](https://www.un.org/en/observances/indigenous-day/background) less than 5 percent of the world’s population,” are more vulnerable to violence and abuse and have faced and continue to face much pain and suffering. They also account for 15 percent of the poorest in the world. August 9 is observed as the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. This uprising played a crucial role in the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade. That is why the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition is commemorated on August 23. Since then, over 2000 tests have taken place.
