Lesezeit ***Indian indie folk outfit Whale in the Pond has released their latest single, ‘Midnight Falls,’ a stellar four-minute dreamy pop indie production.*** Following the release of [‘Pink’](https://open.spotify.com/album/4eE9R2MPMCIbtkxenIQgnA) earlier this year, four-piece multi-instrumentalists Whale in the Pond, known for melding in a wave of musical influences, cast out their latest single, ‘Midnight Falls.’ The tune ushers in the band’s staple nonchalant sound while also branching out into a melancholic approach to expressing love. The song opens with a melody of nifty strumming and weaves into a chorale of delicate vocals layered over dreamy synths and delectable mandolin segments. Whale in the Pond is a Kolkata-based dream folk quartet comprised of musicians Sourjyo Sinha, Shireen Ghosh, Sagnik Samaddar, and Deep Phoenix. Their music reels in influences from psychedelic rock, dream pop, freak folk, bossa nova, and baul and bihu folk music. It explores the feeling of faded passion and love, where ‘the rain keeps falling down our broken house’ acts as the evocative image of the failing relationship,” said songwriter and producer Sourjyo Sinha. Mandolinist Sagnik Samaddar informed us that the song was concocted with a single objective in mind: to keep things simple.
