***Festival season is nearly here, and with it comes a barrage of massive drum & bass releases primed to dominate dancefloors.***

The past few years have been nothing short of monumental for drum & bass, with the genre reaching unprecedented heights topping charts, festivals, and airwaves across the globe. It’s been a real struggle keeping up with the relentless onslaught of quality drum & bass music pouring in from every conceivable subgenre and corner of the planet, and 2025 has continued this explosive trend without missing a beat.

Month after month, we’ve witnessed an absolute avalanche of releases, each pushing the boundaries of what drum & bass can be. But now, as the festival season kicks into high gear and the nights grow longer, it’s time to separate the essential from the exceptional. So, we’ve combed through April’s massive delivery of new music to bring you the definitive selection of tunes that deserve prime placement in your playlist.

From seismic dancefloor destroyers to liquid masterpieces and everything in between, these selections represent the pinnacle of what this unstoppable genre has to offer in 2025 – let’s dive in.

## HUGH HARDIE & ETHERWOOD – ‘TANGARA’

[Etherwood & Hugh Hardie - TANGARA](https://www.youtube.com/embed/SQZusmA116A?feature=oembed) *Hugh Hardie and Etherwood – ‘Tangara’*

Kicking things off with a track made for sunny days and drum & bass dancefloors. Hugh Hardie and Etherwood join forces for their first-ever collaboration, working their magic on the iconic ‘Mwaki’ sample. They’ve transformed it into a sizzling drum & bass roller, infusing it with lush chords, warm Afro-inspired grooves, and that signature liquid flair that’s guaranteed to take up the tune of the summer tag.

## AUDIO – ‘NIRMATA’ (RUEBEN REMIX)

Audio is a drum & bass titan, and remixing one of his tracks is no small feat, given the raw power and precision of his productions. But that’s exactly where Rueben steps in, an artist known for his fearless approach to sound and his ability to move fluidly across the drum & bass spectrum.

Taken from the remix package of Audio’s 2024 powerhouse album ‘Where The Chaos Lies,’ Rueben’s rework strikes that perfect balance of keeping the original’s devastating energy intact while imprinting his signature style. He’s taken those brutal foundations and reshaped them into something fresh yet familiar, adding just the right amount of weight in all the right places to make this version stand tall on its own.

## QZB – ‘HASTE’

  [QZB - Haste](https://www.youtube.com/embed/kukRmL9BdQ8?feature=oembed)

The imperious Swiss duo QZB made a powerful return to Critical Music with their first solo release of 2025. Their latest two-track offering showcases their signature precision engineering, but it’s ‘Haste’ that truly demands attention as a masterclass in hybrid sound design that blurs the lines between techy minimalism and raw dancefloor power.

This is proper system music, crafted with the exacting standards of true audiophiles yet packing enough low-end weight to rattle ribcages.

## GYROFIELD – ‘MOTHER’

At this point, the only real question to ask gyrofield is: how does she consistently navigate such uncharted sonic territory with remarkable precision? Her productions exist in a realm beyond ‘innovation.’ They’re so meticulously crafted, so effortlessly boundary-smashing, that we’ve almost grown accustomed to the impossible. Her music sounds like it’s been beamed in from another planet entirely, one where the rules of rhythm, texture, and atmosphere follow a logic all her own.

  [gyrofield - Mother \[FABRICLIVE.\]](https://www.youtube.com/embed/7CWrZQzg8gk?feature=oembed)

Her latest offering, ‘Mother’ for Fabriclive, is a staggering testament to that otherworldly vision. A tech-driven odyssey of drum & bass, it’s both a masterclass in precision and a hypnotic descent into the surreal.

## FOX STEVENSON – ‘MEMORIES’

With his emotionally charged, vocal-led productions, Fox Stevenson has held a special place in the hearts of drum & bass fans for years. His ability to blend heartfelt songwriting with high-energy production has always set him apart.

[Fox Stevenson - Memories (Official Audio)](https://www.youtube.com/embed/R8maZnQGAsQ?feature=oembed)

That emotional journey now brings us to ‘Memories,’ a track that tugs at the heartstrings from the very first note. But true to Fox Stevenson’s style, it doesn’t linger in melancholy. As the track unfolds, we’re pulled into a vibrant, uplifting climax, one that’s destined for the dancefloor but still carries the emotional core that makes his music so powerful.

## CULUTRE SHOCK – ‘EMPIRE’

Next up: the undisputed king of dancefloor drum & bass and a producer who embodies its very essence. This is Culture Shock, the architect behind some of the genre’s most anthemic moments and a driving force in its global takeover.

  [Culture Shock - Empire](https://www.youtube.com/embed/u1fym5qQx8M?feature=oembed)

His latest weapon, ‘Empire,’ is a coronation. Imagine a medieval monarch’s grand procession, where trumpets signal their arrival, except here, the fanfare is replaced by seismic sub-bass, and the royal court bows to the might of a Culture Shock drop.

## ANUSHKA – ‘OVERWHELMED’ (DJ DIE REMIX)

DJ Die’s soulful, bass-heavy reinvention, where UK garage swing meets dubwise pressure in a lush, late-night soundscape, is an emotional journey of complexities, blending mournful piano, brooding synths, and jazz-inflected vocals to create a poignant narrative. The groove is liquid gold: warm, swinging, and effortlessly cool, with intricate percussion that nods to Die’s Bristolian roots in the legendary Full Cycle crew. Yet it’s the emotional weight that lingers.

  [Overwhelmed (DJ Die Remix)](https://www.youtube.com/embed/Tnbw3JPnQRM?feature=oembed)

This remix not only honors the original’s depth but also elevates it, making it suitable for both reflective listening and energetic club settings. It’s a testament to the versatility of Anushka’s songwriting and DJ Die’s production prowess.

## ROYALSTON – ‘BRIDGET RILEY’

Hailing from Sydney, Royalston has spent over a decade dishing out his signature sound. A seamless fusion of razor-sharp drum & bass precision and the bold, experimental edge of his Australian heritage. The result is a body of work that stands as a masterclass in sound design and storytelling, with four studio albums under his belt, the latest of which dropped on his own imprint, Midnight Zone.

  [Bridget Riley](https://www.youtube.com/embed/WnqvguERnbg?feature=oembed)

This label has become something of a canvas for Royalston’s deeper, more personal expressions, and his recent release, **‘**Bridget Riley,’ is a shining example of that. Named, perhaps metaphorically, after the British artist known for her optical illusions and shifting patterns, the tune feels like one of the most accomplished and emotionally rich pieces Royalston has ever released.

## ENEI & EN:VY – ‘ELIXIR’

The man behind some of the most brutal drum & bass rhythms and one of the champions of the deep and laidback sound come together on ‘Elixir’ as part of the ‘Death Sprint’ EP. The tune is a potent blend of cutting-edge sound design and dancefloor alchemy, a track that distills the best of both producers into a sleek, future-facing DnB weapon.

  [Enei & En:vy - Elixir](https://www.youtube.com/embed/hn9GYMVAwU0?feature=oembed)

Unlike the heavier tracks on the EP, such as ‘Death Sprint’ and ‘Badboi,’ ‘Elixir’ offers a more melodic and introspective experience. It features smooth, rolling rhythms and rich textures, creating a soundscape that’s both immersive and emotionally resonant.

## MONRROE – ‘ECHO HABIT’

Lifted from his highly anticipated ‘Bleach EP’ on [Workforce](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2025/03/19/workforce-kicks-off-conversation-on-streaming-algorithms-via-his-latest-ep)‘s Must Make Music imprint, ‘Echo Habit’ exemplifies tension and release as a steppy, analog-driven missile that channels the uncompromising spirit of drum & bass’ golden age. With its cavernous bass pressure, razor-sharp breaks, and industrial-strength groove, the track pays homage to the legendary sounds of Quarantine Recordings and Renegade Hardware while injecting a modern, precision-engineered edge.

  [Monrroe - Echo Habit](https://www.youtube.com/embed/llRo3RvzvG0?feature=oembed)

‘Echo Habit’ develops as a brooding, atmospheric roller that feels both steeped in history and thrillingly futuristic. It is exactly the kind of track that would have sent the End Club into a frenzy back in the day and will undoubtedly ignite today’s dancefloors with the same raw intensity.
