CONTRA’s maiden outing explores issues of emotional numbness and a state of being devoid of any sensations, while also providing a deep examination of despair. “‘Rain’ is about desolation,” says vocalist [Manas Jha](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2023/01/30/manas-jha-releases-his-new-ep-freedom-or-love). “It explores life having given up on love, gradually losing the ability to feel anything at all.” ‘Rain’ authentically delivers on its hard rock/progressive rock tone, unfolding with dastardly grunge rhythms and roaring bass segments. Jha’s flowing vocals carry the tune over pounding drums and distorted guitars. A rousing guitar solo shapes the outro with the lyrics, ‘Colours I feel no more…’ echoing over the music. With expert cinematography and shot transitions, it captures the protagonist dancing on the street and fighting intense battles, reflecting his inner conflict. CONTRA sees Pankaj Kulkarni on bass, Natasha Nair on drums, with Manas Jha on vocal duties and Dean/Nikhil Bhosle shredding the guitar.
