Born on East London’s dancefloors and forged across Aotearoa New Zealand’s club and festival circuit, Tempo Schmempo finally lands in Te Whanganui-a-Tara for the first time, with a vibrant series of parties for the winter months.

On a bi-monthly basis, expect carefully curated lineups of Aotearoa’s finest underground electronic artists, designed to showcase the fantastic talent that thrives across the motu.

What’s more, each party will be punctuated by a double A-side release from the two artists performing on the night - to be released the week of the party.

And to top it off, we've teamed up with Duncan’s Brewing Co. to pour an official Tempo Schmempo beer on tap for the night.

For the first instalment, we’re proud to introduce Cheep Frills (Live) and Rare Specimens.

Cheep Frills

Cheep Frills is a genre-bending live act from Marcos Alonso and Dolphin Therapy, fusing electronic production with vibrant vocals and playful performance. Their shows deliver high-energy dancefloor stompers, cheeky reinterpretations, and unexpected sonic detours that keep crowds moving and grinning. Equal parts musically tight and joyfully loose, Cheep Frills is a guaranteed mood-lifter for any stage or setting.

Rare Specimens

As Rare Specimens, Nick Munday, Pete Green, Matt McPhee and Dan Rainey have become firm fixtures in New Zealand’s underground electronic scene, balancing playful eclecticism with dancefloor precision during their unique back to back performances. United by their love of disco, italo, acid house, Detroit techno, Balearic sounds and UK club culture, the group combines road-tested experience with finely tuned taste acquired through decades of crate-digging and DJing across the globe.

Expect only the finest musical selections, lovingly curated from dance music’s rich history — plus more dancefloor shenanigans than you can shake a stick at.

See you on the dance floor.
