Hailing from the Netherlands, this is an artist and label head (OKAY) whose forward-thinking approach and impressive sound design skills have been turning heads in the world of dnb and bass music. His initial forays into releasing music have seen him remix Noisia for Deadmau5’s mau5trap imprint and get snapped up by his fellow Dutchmen’s record labels, VISION and Division. Posij’s outlook is to move away from clichés, casting aside the drum loops and bass noises so often overused and instead concentrating on writing original and different music. With releases also on Chase & Status' MTA Records, Owsla, UKF, Critical Music, Shogun, Hospital, Deadbeats and San Holo’s Bitbird, Posij is spearheading a new generation of experimental bass music producers. Soeneido (LOTEK), on direct support, is another artist with an unshackled production approach who is making waves, especially in the realm of future jungle, having just dropped a stellar EP on Future Retro LDN last month. He offers a uniquely street-level take on darkside and hardcore, fusing it with influences of 90’s hip-hop, turntablism and obscure ninja-movie soundtracks. Sometimes one must investigate the past in an effort to reinvigorate the present. And that ethos is certainly present in much of Soen’s sound, characterized by semblances of forgotten new age music and 80’s sci-fi movie clips fragmented through rack samplers. Releasing much of his work on his own imprint (LOTEK) he also runs a bay area clubnight of the same name.
