Āge is an experimental short-film shot in the eucalyptus forests of San Francisco. It had no budget and was created with local artists passionate about the idea and vision.
Directed by ice composer, vocalist, sound artist and multi-disciplinary artist Xxhe, it has been two and a half years in the making.
The film premiered in Brooklyn in February of this year and continues to be screened around the city periodically.
A note from the team that created the film:
"Āge is unique. We created it with several intentions, the most important being experimentation.
At this Screening we will be showing Āge and fundraising for our feature-length version, "R`ovsces".
R`ovsces [ROW-VUH-SIZ] is our feature film concept following the story of Xxhe’s opera of the same title. Xxhe, a unique composer who composes music using the sounds of ice and the tundra, wrote this opera using ice music at the age of 17 and has been imagining the feature version for 8 years counting. The story takes place on a frozen, tundric, alien world in deep space, lit by a blue star with creatures made entirely of light whose language is only capable of being sung. "R`ovsces" is a massive art piece and one which has been longing to be born fully for quite some time.
Āge was created it in order to explore filming techniques, lighting effects, location approach, color grading ideas, and method related to the marrying of the music and the story for R`ovsces.
The film also functions as part music video, giving a taste of the dance sequences we will create in the feature.
Overall, expect a collage of visuals, plot, music, and much more as we imagine the ice opera on the big screen for the first time.
All proceeds will go towarda R`ovsces! Join us after the screening for a Q & A with Xxhe and editor/colorist Christopher Marmol."

Miriam Hermina
Miriam Hermina (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist from Maryland, USA. The artist was formally introduced to the arts when she began studying Ballet at a young age, but her research began long before she was influenced by any external force. Lead by her curiosity, the artist continued her study of dance at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where she discovered similarities between mediums such as visual arts and dance. At LMU, she learned about experimental dance films, which had a tremendous impact on the way she approached movement on and off screen. Hermina was selected for the 2022 international choreographic residency at Art Omi in New York, which culminated in a site-specific performance. Her short film Running Stitch has been accepted into seven film festivals thus far. She has developed a practice of reworking traditional concepts and looks to raw human emotion as a resource. With drama being a key element in her work, the artist creates alternate worlds where character can develop organically. Her mission is to start conversations and challenge perceptions.
