### SORIAH is the stage persona of Enrique Ugalde, an internationally-acclaimed throat singer and ritual artist who generates experimental soundscapes where ancient traditions are revealed through the lens of modern experience. Birthed in one of the most historically isolated locations on the planet, Tuvan throat singing is a musical sound like no other. Mysterious, primordial and awash in a deeply visceral drone, it invokes the full range of the natural world – from deep mountain roots to the whistle of birds in flight.

### Enrique Ugalde is currently the most decorated non-Tuvan throat singer in the world, winning 3rd Laureate at the 5th International Throat Singing Symposium in Kyzyl Tuva in 2008, 2nd Laureate at the Tuvan National Kargyraa Competition in 2014 and awarded “Great Innovator of the Art of Kargyraa” at the Tuvan National Competition in 2016 and winning “Best Performance of Kargyraa” in the 2019 “Khöömei in the Center of Asia” Festival.

### SORIAH weaves Tuvan throat singing, pre-Columbian sounds, classical Indian raga, and modern Western styles, looping and processing his voice and traditional instruments into lush sonic tapestries. His lyrics are often written in Nahuatl (Mexica/Aztec) or Tuvan, preserving and expressing cultural mysteries with reverence  and wonder.

# **Arrington de Dionyso**

### Arrington de Dionyso integrates ancient soundmaking techniques with trans-modernist inquiries into the nature of consciousness. His propulsive improvisations utilize voice, bass clarinet, and rare flutes as multiphonic tools in the navigation of liminal spaces between shamanic seance and rock and roll ecstasy. Iconoclastic improvisations in the spiritual search for primordially potent universalities.

# Nava Dance Collective with Miriam Peretz

### Nava Dance Collective is an international community of dancers devoted to cross-cultural dialogue and artistic collaboration through traditional, sacred, and ethno-contemporary dance forms. Under the direction of Miriam Peretz, dancers from diverse cultural backgrounds collaborate in the creation of meaningful projects and performances. Tonight they will be performing Persian centric choreography in honor of Nowruz, Persian New Year/Spring Equinox, including their signature "Dance of Unity," a sacred circle dance prayer for peace and unity.
