**The Galconomist Salon: Human**

*A literary salon for the intellectually curious, hosted by The Galconomist, an independent print magazine covering culture, art, fashion, and identity, and presented by Lightning Society.*

The realest, most human version of you is the rarest thing you can offer.

To be human is to be the thing an algorithm can't replicate. Having opinions you'll defend, taste that can't be crowd-sourced, convictions a bot would never risk. Being interesting and irritating and irreplaceable instead of agreeable and smooth and forgettable.

Prompts to get you thinking:
What does it mean to be human when a machine can do it more convincingly than you?
Is AI the new god?
Is connection becoming a lost art?
Has imperfection become the last reliable signal of a soul?
If everyone is being watched, optimized, and auto-completed, what part of you is still un-copyable?
What's the most human thing you did this week?

This salon is a deep-dive into what it means to be human in the age of the algorithm. Bring one piece that speaks to it, an essay, a poem, a song, a painting, a meme, a photograph, or something you made with your own two hands, and share it with the room, followed by discussion. Come be interesting, irritating, and irreplaceable, in person.

Join us Wednesday, August 19th at 6:30pm, at Lightning Society, 45 Howard St, SoHo. Tea will be served.

Space is limited, so RSVP as soon as you can!!
