The Galconomist Salon: Time

A literary salon for the intellectually curious, hosted by The Galconomist, an independent print magazine covering culture, art, fashion, and identity, and presented by Lightning Society.

Time is the only currency you can't earn back.

We spend it on things we don't value and feel like we're always running out of it. To value your time is to know what you actually want, and be honest enough to stop giving it away.

Prompts to sit with (and depart from):

  • What are you spending your time on and how does it make you feel?
  • What do you notice when you slow down?
  • When was the last time you lost track of time in a good way?
  • What would you begin today if you stopped worrying about being late?
  • Have you spent time getting to know yourself?
  • What does a well-spent hour look like to you?

This salon is a deep-dive into how we spend our time, what we value, and what happens when the two don't match. Bring one piece that speaks to it, an essay, a poem, a song, a painting, a meme, a photograph, or something you made with your own two hands, and share it with the room, followed by discussion. Come think about time out loud, in person.

Join us on September 15th at 6:30pm, at Lightning Society, 45 Howard St, SoHo. Tea will be served.

Space is limited, so RSVP as soon as you can!
