Queenstown Ice Arena, Queenstown* The [New Zealand Ice Hockey Federation](https://nzicehockey.co.nz/) and QRC [Winter Games NZ](https://www.wintergamesnz.kiwi/) fuelled by Forsyth Barr in association with the [Queenstown Resort College](https://qrc.ac.nz/) are proud to present the Trans-Tasman Challenge; a three-game test series of international ice hockey 5, 6, and 7 September 2019 in Queenstown, New Zealand. The 2019 Trans-Tasman Challenge brings together New Zealand and Australia, two rival sporting nations, as part of the 10th Winter Games NZ. New Zealand and Australia last met at the 2017 and 2018 Winter Games NZ. Each country has won the three-game series twice, [New Zealand's Ice Blacks](https://www.facebook.com/iceblackshockey/) in 2009 and 2018 and Australia's Mighty Roos in 2011 and 2017. The Mighty Roos will be out for redemption while the Ice Blacks will want to, once again, prove their superiority on home ice. The three-game test series promises action-packed, edge of your seat excitement with all the passion you’d expect when there’s Trans-Tasman pride on the line. New Zealand’s Ice Blacks and Australia’s Mighty Roos, international ice hockey underdogs that punch well above their weight, have both recently returned from the 2019 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A and B tournaments. New Zealand are ranked 40th and Australia are currently ranked 35th in the world of international ice hockey. **Get the crew together**Gather your ice hockey friends and whanau together and support your team. Single and group tickets are available and you can help fund your ticket by referring your friends. **Merch (** **Online merchandise sales have closed.  There will be limited sizes and styles available for sale at the games.)** And don't forget to size up the merch before you check out so you can be THAT fan. Ice Blacks and Mighty Roos merchandise can be purchased at the same time as your ticket or you can return to order using your ticket reference number. All purchases must be picked up from the venue during any of the three games. We will sell only very limited quantities (and not all items) at the games, so now is the best time to buy and get kitted out for the series.
