About Lure Nightclub

Lure Nightclub is no longer operating under that name. The Hollywood club at 1439 North Ivar Avenue closed for renovations in June 2019, and current official and neighborhood sources identify the address as Sunset Room Hollywood. Old nightlife directories and reservation pages still describe Lure as active, but those listings are outdated. Visitors should look for the Sunset Room name when attending a present-day event.

At its 2012 debut, Lure was an unusually large, technically ambitious Hollywood “superclub.” Contemporary reports described an 18,000-square-foot complex containing a cavernous dance hall, courtyard, stone terrace, restaurant areas and secluded outdoor spaces. It aimed to bring the scale and spectacle of a Las Vegas DJ club into central Hollywood, combining electronic music, bottle service, dining and celebrity-oriented hospitality.

The current Sunset Room is better understood as a flexible event hall that periodically becomes a nightclub. The consistently published present-day figures are approximately 8,000 square feet, 800 guests for a standing reception and 350 for a seated function. Exact room dimensions and a permanent public seating chart have not been published.

Venue History

The building’s entertainment history predates Lure by more than a decade. Contemporary accounts described it as a former film-supply warehouse before the original Sunset Room opened in late 1999. Styled as an Old Hollywood supper club, restaurant and nightclub, that incarnation became known for celebrity gatherings, Oscar-season parties and private entertainment-industry functions. Early reports placed its capacity near 1,000 and emphasized its multiroom layout.

During the 2000s, the property went through several hospitality concepts. Cabana Club introduced a tropical resort atmosphere with trees, lounge sofas, pools, dance floors, cabanas and outdoor areas. Green Door occupied part of the larger complex and leaned toward a European salon aesthetic with live jazz. Cabana Club also hosted international performers, film-industry celebrations and culturally specific dance parties before its replacement.

Sunset Entertainment Group and Boulevard Nightlife Group transformed the property into Lure in 2012. The club soft-opened on May 10 with Wolfgang Gartner, followed by appearances associated with the EC Twins. The renovation united the former Cabana Club and Green Door areas into a large indoor-outdoor destination with a restaurant, multiple bars, advanced video walls and a more cohesive nightlife identity.

Lure remained active through the 2010s, gradually expanding from major EDM bookings into hip-hop appearances, celebrity-hosted parties, Persian celebrations, holiday events and promoter-led club nights. Public concert archives show its final listed performances in early 2019, after which it was reported closed for renovations. By September 2021, events at the address were being advertised under the revived Sunset Room Hollywood name.

Events and Programming

Lure’s original programming centered on big-room electronic music. Its regular calendar included Thursday dance nights, Private Label Fridays, DJ-driven weekend parties and summer Sunday gatherings. Private Label broadened the formula by placing indie-electronic artists in the DJ booth; documented guests included Viceroy, Poolside, Luke Jenner of The Rapture, Bixel Boys and Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem.

Later years brought a stronger hip-hop and celebrity-hosted emphasis. Publicly documented bookings and appearances included Future, 2 Chainz, Tory Lanez, Yo Gotti, Young Dolph, Trey Songz, Fetty Wap, Kirko Bangz and Playboi Carti. Lure also hosted BET weekend parties, Halloween events, New Year’s Eve celebrations, Persian holiday gatherings and installments of the Do-Over daytime party.

There were no Lure-branded performances from 2021 through 2026. During that period the address operated as Sunset Room Hollywood. Its public bookings demonstrate a diverse mix: a Radio Javan Labor Day party in 2021; Adana Twins, Maga and Arodes in 2022; Goldcap, Lost Desert, Double Touch, Mira, Chris Schwarzwälder and Marques Wyatt in 2023; and Silver Panda, Øostil, Kamran & Hooman, Liva K and Mont Rouge in 2024.

The electronic schedule continued in 2025 with extended sets from Sven Väth and Dubfire, plus Bora Uzer and other promoter-led dance events. The room has simultaneously hosted Nowruz celebrations, Halloween productions, New Year’s Eve parties, fashion presentations, architectural awards, corporate functions, weddings, brand launches and nonprofit galas. Because many bookings are private, publicly searchable listings do not form a complete event ledger.

As of August 13, 2026, no Lure revival or Lure-branded future calendar had been announced. Sunset Room’s remaining 2026 programming included an African fashion and music festival and a charitable gala featuring a reunion connected to the television series Wings. No verified public events beyond 2026 were identified.

Tickets and Booking

Sunset Room does not maintain a conventional resident box office or a single recurring ticket program. Public events are normally produced and sold by outside organizers, while weddings, corporate events and celebrations are privately contracted. Buy only through the sales method named by the event organizer, and confirm that the listing says Sunset Room Hollywood, 1439 North Ivar Avenue.

Recent standard dance events have commonly started around $25 to $40, while elaborate holiday, costume and themed productions may begin around $60 or more. VIP seating, bottle-service tables and premium packages can cost several hundred dollars. Prices generally rise as an event fills, and organizer terms frequently make sales final.

For popular DJ sets, Halloween and New Year’s Eve, purchasing early is safer than relying on door sales. Check whether your ticket includes only admission or also provides express entry, a reserved table, a viewing area or a beverage package. Bottle purchases are often separate from the table reservation itself.

Seating and Layout

There is no permanent theater-style seating plan. The current room can be configured for approximately 350 seated guests or 800 standing, using dinner rounds, reception furniture, an open dance floor or a combination of tables and performance space. The principal architectural elements are the main room, built-in stage, DJ booth, terrace and bar areas.

For concerts and dance nights, the main floor provides the strongest connection to the stage, sound system and LED wall. Side-stage VIP areas can offer a clearer elevated perspective but may feel removed from the center of the crowd. The terrace is better for conversation and cooling down than for uninterrupted stage views. Table placement changes for every event, so a section name should not be treated like an assigned theater seat.

Lure’s historical layout was more elaborate and club-oriented, with oversized booths, cabanas, living walls, footbridges, ponds, an elevated DJ platform and lounge seating wrapped around the dance floor. Visitors who remember that version should expect a cleaner, more adaptable event-room presentation today.

Architecture and Production

Lure was designed by Gulla Jonsdottir and distinguished by a diamond-patterned facade, topiary chandeliers, four LED-paneled bars and extensive high-definition video walls. Its production package included a reported 50,000-watt line-array sound system, a cryogenic effects system and 110 illuminated kinetic spheres choreographed to music. Some spheres could descend dramatically above the dance floor.

The current Sunset Room preserves the building’s original wood bow-and-truss ceiling. A glass-and-steel wall separates the main room from the terrace while admitting natural light, giving daytime events a more open atmosphere than Lure’s dark nightclub presentation. Current equipment includes a stage, DJ booth, programmable LED wall, LED lighting and line-array sound. Exact speaker models, console inventory, rigging limits and electrical specifications are available only through event production planning and are not published publicly.

Getting There and Parking

The venue is at 1439 North Ivar Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90028, just south of Sunset Boulevard and one block west of Vine Street. The entrance sits in Hollywood’s Vinyl District, near the Godfrey Hotel, the former Cinerama Dome complex and the restaurants around Sunset and Cahuenga.

The nearest subway option is the Metro B Line at Hollywood/Vine, roughly an eight- to ten-minute walk. From the station, walk west on Hollywood Boulevard, turn south toward Sunset and continue to Ivar. Metro Line 2 operates along Sunset Boulevard, providing a bus alternative from West Hollywood, Los Feliz, Echo Park and central Los Angeles.

Sunset Room works with a preferred valet operator for some events. The venue’s designated self-parking alternative is the garage at 1400 Ivar Avenue, historically associated with the Cinerama Dome and ArcLight complex; parking is not validated. Rates and operating hours vary by event, so read the garage signs before leaving the vehicle. Street parking is limited and heavily regulated.

Rideshare passengers should use Ivar Avenue unless event staff or street closures direct otherwise. Arrange pickup a short distance from the entrance after crowded events, because valet lines, departing cars and rideshare vehicles can congest the immediate block.

Inside the Venue

Entry arrangements depend on the promoter. Nightlife events typically use an ID check, ticket scan and security screening, while galas and private functions may use guest lists or invitation desks. Arriving 30 to 45 minutes before a headline set is sensible; holiday parties and major cultural celebrations justify additional time.

The venue can provide full bar service, in-house catering and outside catering subject to approval and kitchen limitations. Food is not guaranteed at ordinary dance events. Published amenities include Wi-Fi, coat-check capability, air conditioning and restrooms, but coat check may be activated only when requested by the organizer. Merchandise is uncommon unless a performing artist or event producer brings a dedicated sales area.

Recent visitor accounts praise the room’s size, open dance floor, atmosphere and fast bar service at well-run events. Criticism has included inconsistent cocktail preparation, and experiences vary noticeably because different promoters control staffing, entertainment and guest flow. Reviews therefore often reflect the individual production as much as the building itself.

Nearby Amenities

Laya is immediately around the corner on Cahuenga Boulevard, while the Godfrey Hotel’s restaurant and rooftop are less than a block away. Additional nearby choices include Wildbird, the restaurants around the Dream Hotel and the growing Sunset-and-Vine dining cluster. Confirm closing times before a late event, as many Hollywood kitchens stop serving well before clubs empty.

The Godfrey Hotel is the closest lodging option. Dream Hollywood, the Hollywood Grande, W Hollywood and the Kimpton Everly are also within the broader Hollywood/Vine area. The Everly is especially convenient for B Line access, while the Godfrey minimizes the nighttime walk.

What Makes This Venue Special

Few Hollywood nightlife addresses have been reinvented as often while retaining the same essential purpose. The building has moved from Old Hollywood supper club to tropical Cabana Club, extravagant Lure superclub and flexible Sunset Room event hall. Each version has reflected its era’s preferred combination of celebrity, music, design and private-event spectacle.

Lure was particularly important because it treated club production as the attraction rather than background decoration. Its kinetic ceiling, moving video, cryogenic effects and oversized sound system anticipated the immersive production now expected at major dance venues. Private Label also showed that a bottle-service room could experiment with indie-electronic programming instead of relying entirely on mainstream house music.

Visitor Tips, Policies and Accessibility

Many public dance events are 21 and older, but that is not a universal building rule; fashion shows, private celebrations and charity events can establish different limits. Bring an unexpired government-issued photo ID whenever alcohol is served. Dress codes range from casual festival clothing to costumes, cocktail wear or upscale nightlife attire, depending entirely on the organizer.

No permanent public bag, camera or re-entry policy is published for the current venue. Use a small bag, leave professional camera equipment at home unless authorized and read the terms attached to your event. Do not assume that a policy from the former Lure operation remains valid.

Current venue databases identify the space as wheelchair accessible, and at least one recent public event described it as fully accessible. However, detailed information about accessible drop-off, restroom dimensions, companion positions, hearing assistance, sensory accommodations and gender-inclusive facilities has not been published. Guests with specific access requirements should obtain confirmation from the event organizer before buying tickets. The accessibility features promoted on the venue’s official materials primarily describe its website and should not be mistaken for a complete physical-access guide.

Lost property is held for a limited period. The venue states that unclaimed items are donated after 14 days, while unclaimed identification and payment cards are destroyed. Report a loss promptly and include the event date, item description and approximate location.

Economic and Cultural Role

No independent study has quantified this individual venue’s employment, tax or neighborhood spending impact. Its observable contribution is cultural and operational: it has provided Hollywood with a large room for touring DJs, premiere parties, fashion, corporate hospitality, diaspora celebrations, nonprofit fundraisers and private milestones.

The varied 2021-2026 calendar has brought Persian music audiences, African fashion and music programming, international electronic artists and community sports gatherings into the same building. It also generates business for caterers, production crews, security teams, valet operators, nearby restaurants and hotels. That local economic effect is a reasonable inference from its event model, but no reliable dollar total has been published.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Lure Nightclub still open in Los Angeles?

No. Lure stopped operating under that name in 2019. The same address now trades as Sunset Room Hollywood, a private-event and entertainment venue that sometimes hosts public nightclub-style events. Ignore current-looking listings that advertise normal Lure Friday and Saturday hours; several independent directories have retained obsolete information from the former club.

What is currently located at 1439 North Ivar Avenue?

Sunset Room Hollywood occupies the former Lure address. It is an adaptable event hall rather than a nightclub with a guaranteed weekly schedule. Depending on the booking, it may host a DJ night, gala, wedding, cultural celebration, fashion presentation, corporate reception, brand activation, fundraiser or film-industry party.

Does Sunset Room Hollywood open every weekend?

Not necessarily. Published office hours are not public entertainment hours, and the venue’s schedule is driven by individual rentals and promoter bookings. Some weekends may feature ticketed dance events, while others are reserved for private functions or have no public access. Never travel there solely because an old Lure directory lists generic club hours.

What is the capacity of the former Lure venue?

The most consistent current specification for Sunset Room is 800 guests standing and 350 seated within more than 8,000 square feet of event space. Historical Lure reports described an 18,000-square-foot club complex, apparently measuring additional courtyards, terraces and associated areas. A room’s permitted event capacity may be reduced by staging, furniture and production installations.

Is there assigned seating?

Most dance events use general admission with an open floor and separately sold VIP tables. Galas, dinners and weddings may install assigned rounds or custom seating plans. Because there is no permanent seating bowl, a ticket should explicitly state whether it includes a chair, table, side-stage area or reserved section. General admission normally does not guarantee seating.

How much do tickets usually cost?

Recent electronic events provide a useful range: ordinary advance admission has often started near $25 to $40. Large Halloween, New Year’s Eve or immersive productions can begin around $60 and rise considerably. VIP tables and bottle packages may cost hundreds of dollars. Prices are determined by the outside organizer, not by a permanent venue-wide rate.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

Some organizers allow door sales when capacity remains, but admission is not guaranteed. Popular DJs, major cultural parties and holiday events can sell out or charge substantially more on the night. Purchasing in advance also gives you time to check age restrictions, refund terms, entry deadlines and whether your ticket requires arrival before a stated hour.

Is the venue always 21 and older?

No universal age policy applies to every Sunset Room booking. Most late-night electronic, hip-hop and open-bar parties are restricted to guests 21 or older, with valid photo identification required. Private functions, fashion events, awards ceremonies and nonprofit gatherings may admit younger guests. The age printed on the individual event information is the controlling rule.

What should I wear?

Follow the specific event theme. Standard club nights generally favor polished nightlife clothing, while New Year’s Eve and galas may request cocktail or semi-formal attire. Halloween events encourage costumes, and daytime cultural festivals may be considerably more relaxed. Avoid relying on Lure’s old dress-code descriptions, as the present venue serves a much wider variety of functions.

Where should I park?

Event valet may be available, but it is not guaranteed for every booking. The venue identifies the parking structure at 1400 Ivar Avenue as its primary self-parking alternative and does not provide validation. Allow time for garage entry and payment. Street spaces are scarce, and nearby commercial lots may tow vehicles belonging to people who leave the associated business.

What is the closest Metro station?

Hollywood/Vine on the Metro B Line is the most convenient rail station, approximately an eight- to ten-minute walk from the venue. Travel south and west toward Sunset Boulevard and Ivar Avenue. Line 2 buses also travel along Sunset, making them useful from West Hollywood, Silver Lake, Echo Park and other neighborhoods along the boulevard.

Is Sunset Room Hollywood wheelchair accessible?

Current event-space listings mark the venue as wheelchair accessible, and a recent ticketed production described it as fully accessible. Nevertheless, the venue has not published a detailed physical ADA guide. Guests needing a step-free route, accessible restroom confirmation, companion seating, mobility-device space or a particular drop-off arrangement should have those requirements confirmed for their specific event.

What is the bag and photography policy?

There is no publicly posted universal bag or camera rule covering every event. A small handbag or compact personal bag is the least complicated choice. Professional cameras, detachable lenses, lighting equipment and recording gear should be treated as prohibited unless the organizer gives permission. Security procedures and photography rights may differ substantially between concerts, weddings and brand events.

Does the venue serve food?

Food depends on the booking. Sunset Room offers in-house catering and can approve insured outside caterers, making full dinners possible at galas and private events. Some public parties advertise food, while ordinary DJ nights may offer only bar service. Eat beforehand unless the event description specifically confirms a food vendor, buffet, seated meal or operating kitchen.

Is there a coat check or Wi-Fi?

Coat-check capability and Wi-Fi are included in published venue amenity lists, but neither should be assumed at every public event. Coat check may require the organizer to request staffing, and guest Wi-Fi availability can depend on production needs. Travel light during warm-weather events and do not bring an item you would be uncomfortable carrying throughout the night.

How early should I arrive?

Arrive 30 to 45 minutes before the time you most want to be inside. Add more time for Halloween, New Year’s Eve, open-bar events, celebrity appearances and parties with strict entry deadlines. Lines can involve ID inspection, security screening and ticket verification. Guests with VIP or guest-list admission should still arrive before any cutoff printed in their confirmation.

Does the venue still have Lure’s original sound and lighting?

The current room retains professional line-array sound, LED lighting, a programmable video wall, DJ equipment and a built-in stage. However, no public inventory confirms that every component of Lure’s 2012 system remains installed. Treat the 50,000-watt system, kinetic light spheres and cryogenic effects as historically significant Lure features rather than guaranteed present-day equipment.

Are there restaurants and hotels within walking distance?

Yes. Laya and the Godfrey Hotel’s dining spaces are almost adjacent, with additional restaurants around Sunset, Cahuenga and Selma. The Godfrey is the closest hotel; Dream Hollywood, the Hollywood Grande, W Hollywood and the Kimpton Everly are also nearby. For late dining, verify kitchen hours in advance because nightclub closing time often outlasts local restaurant service.
