About New Market Hotel

New Market Hotel (often written “Newmarket Hotel”) is the only full-size pub in Mascot, a busy Sydney suburb near the airport . It sits on the corner of Gardeners Rd and Botany Rd . The venue has a modern, industrial-style décor – exposed brick and timber – with a large indoor sports bar, an adjoining bistro (with a wood-fired pizza oven) and a spacious outdoor beer garden . Beer taps, walls of sports screens and pub games give it a lively local feel. (It’s co-located with the Manhattan Superbowl bowling alley next door, sharing the address .) New Market Hotel is known for generous pub meals (large salads, schnitzels, roasts) at good value and friendly service. Most nights it serves up sports broadcasts and events in a casual, family-friendly atmosphere.

Events and Programming

New Market Hotel doesn’t operate as a formal concert hall; instead it’s a hub for **weekly social events and sports**. On most nights the bar shows AFL, NRL, cricket and soccer on its big screens. The pub runs **free trivia on Thursday nights at 7:30pm** and frequent poker tournaments (e.g. “Texas Tuesday” and “Super Sunday” tourneys with guaranteed cash prizes) . Sunday afternoons often feature special offerings or live sports giveaways. In 2023 the hotel even hosted a “Dog Day” pet festival (with pop-up stalls and contests) . Outdoor events like charity or holiday gatherings are common. Occasionally local bands or DJs play acoustic or cover sets, but there is no dedicated stage (music is usually background during busy nights). In short, visitors can expect **free community events** (quiz, sports-viewing, themed nights) and the occasional celebration rather than ticketed concerts.

Tickets and Booking

You generally **do not buy tickets** for regular events – entry to the pub and most weekly quizzes or sports nights is free. In fact, the website encourages booking tables (for trivia or meals) via their online system . For example, trivia tables can be reserved through OpenTable on the pub’s site . Meal prices are typical pub-pub fare (pizzas, burgers, steaks, etc.) – moderate by Sydney standards. The hotel does promote private functions (weddings, corporate parties): there’s a “Book Now” button and phone number (02 9669 5591) for those events. In practice, most people just turn up at scheduled events; popular nights can get crowded, so it’s a good idea to arrive early or reserve a spot for big quiz or sports viewing nights.

Seating and Layout

The venue is divided into several areas for different experiences. At the front is a lively **sports bar** with high stools and tables overlooking large TV screens (ideal for games night and quiz seating) . Adjacent is a **bistro/dining room** with booth seating – this area contains the pizza oven and two kitchens for pub classics and specialty dishes . Out back is an expansive **beer garden**, a sunlit outdoor patio with tables and benches that feel perfect for families or social groups . The beer garden also has covered sections in case of rain. Viewing lines are generally good: nearly every seat in the garden and front bar has a sight-line to a TV or sports screen . (There is no reserved “VIP” area in the regular pub sections – seating is mostly first-in, first-served unless you’ve booked a private room.) In short, guests can choose indoor bar seating for a rowdy game – or relax at an outdoor table – with loudspeaker music kept at moderate volume.

Getting There and Parking

New Market Hotel is easy to find at *Corner of Gardeners Rd & Botany Rd, Mascot (NSW 2019)* . It’s just south of the Sydney Airport. By metro rail, take any T2 **Sydney Trains Airport Line** service to Mascot Station – the pub is an easy walk from there . Several bus routes also stop on Botany or Gardeners roads nearby (e.g. routes 301, 303, 400 and 410 on Botany Rd; 343, 418 on Gardeners Rd) . If you drive or ride-share, there is customer parking: a dedicated carpark sits behind/beside the venue (shared with Manhattan Superbowl). Street parking along Botany or Gardeners may also be available. The pub’s website even mentions a **courtesy bus service** for local patrons – details and booking are provided through their contact page . (Taxis and event shuttles are common too, given the airport location.)

Inside the Venue

Upon entry you’ll find a typical Aussie pub vibe. Guests must be 18+ to access the bar areas, so expect staff to check ID after hours. Security does occasional bag checks on busy nights. The dress code is casual (track shorts, jeans, t-shirts all fine). The main bar serves a wide range of beer, wine and spirits – including craft taps and a wall of bottles. Bartenders are friendly and will serve free water. The adjoining bistro has menus 7 days a week (pizza, burgers, salads, parmas, late-night roasts etc., with many meals noted as large portions ). On the subject of timeline, staff will stop serving close to closing time (usually around 2am – see Policies below). Restrooms and amenities are standard: restrooms (including an accessible toilet off the front bar) are located inside, and a coat rack is usually provided. There is no formal cloakroom or lockers. Outside, the beer garden has active heaters/umbrellas in cooler weather. The pub is **wheelchair-accessible** throughout (no steps to main areas) . Wi-Fi is not prominently advertised, so expect to rely on mobile data. Merchandise is minimal (no branded swag), and outside food/drink is not permitted. Importantly, while the venue hosted a special dog-friendly “Dog Day” event in Feb 2023 , ordinary nights do *not* allow pets inside (only service animals).

Nearby Amenities

Mascot is an industrial/residential area with some dining options. Right near the pub you’ll find fast food and casual diners along Botany Road (e.g. a coffee stop or kebab shop handy for a quick snack). For full meals, the hotel’s own bistro covers pizza, pub meals and even a late-night menu. If you want a sit-down restaurant, there are various Asian and Aussie spots a few blocks away (check local listings for recent updates). Across Botany Rd is a small grocery/bakery that’s useful if you need supplies. For lodging, Mascot’s proximity to the airport means there are several hotels a short drive or taxi ride away – for example, Rydges Sydney Airport and Ibis Airport (both ~3–4 minutes by car). Downtown Sydney (the CBD or Inner West) is 10–20 minutes by train or 20–30 minutes by road. After-event rides are easily arranged via local taxi/rideshare services or by catching a bus at the corner. In late night hours, rideshare drop-off on Botany Rd works fine. (Note: Botany Rd runs one of Sydney’s main bus corridors, so frequent transport is available until midnight.)

What Makes This Venue Special

New Market Hotel stands out as a friendly local pub that can handle parties big or small. User reviews praise it as a *“great place for a function”*, once hosting 60 people with ease and even commenting “kid friendly until late evening” . It’s uniquely the **only true pub in Mascot** , so it serves as a community hub – from watching major sport finals to Christmas parties. Signature features include the **huge beer garden** (rare in these parts) and the wood-fired pizza oven . One reviewer highlighted the “wonderful beer garden” with big screens and two kitchens (one for pizza specialties, one for pub food) . The attached Manhattan Superbowl bowling alley brings a novelty factor – they even bundle deals like “two games of bowling plus a discounted pub meal” . The pub stays open late (typically until 3am) , so it often becomes the last stop in the area. Long-time locals love its relaxed vibe and value (e.g. $12 lunch pizzas, schnitzel nights on Thursdays). Over the years it’s built a reputation as a **high-efficiency pub** – quick service, filling meals, and sunny outdoor space – that’s reliably open (often 7am–3am daily). For both visitors and regulars it’s a no-fuss place to catch sport, have a crafty beer, or just hang out in a true neighborhood pub.

Do I need to purchase tickets for events held at New Market Hotel?

No. Most events at New Market Hotel are free entry. Regular trivia nights, poker tournaments and sports-viewing parties do not require tickets. Just show up before the event and order at the bar. (For big quiz nights or functions you can reserve a table via the pub’s website, but there is no separate ticket purchase.)

Is there a cover charge or membership fee?

No membership or cover charge is required for the general public. Whether it’s a quiz, watching sports, or just drinks at the bar, entry is free. Only special private events (Weddings, corporate dinners) might have a booking fee, but day-to-day the venue operates like a normal pub.

What is the exact address of New Market Hotel?

The hotel sits at Cnr Gardeners Rd & Botany Rd, Mascot NSW 2019. This is just south of Sydney Airport. You can plug “Newmarket Hotel Mascot” into Google Maps or GPS. The corner intersection is easy to spot and there are signs overhead on Botany Rd.

Is there parking available, and is it free or paid?

Yes – there is a carpark behind and beside the building, generally free for patrons. Street parking on Botany or Gardeners Road is also often available (check local signs). Because the area near the airport has lots of parking lots, you typically won’t have to pay for general pub parking. At very busy times, the lot may fill up, but locals often find space on nearby streets or use the courtesy bus.

Which public transport runs to New Market Hotel?

Several bus routes serve the Botany Rd/Gardeners Rd area (e.g. 301, 303, 400, 410 on Botany Road; 343, 418 on Gardeners Road). These arrive very close to the pub corner. The easiest train route is to ride the T2 (Airport) line to Mascot Station, then walk a few blocks south to Botany Rd (about 7–10 minutes on foot) . Rideshare/taxi drop-offs on Botany Rd right in front of the venue are also common.

Are seats reserved or first-come? Where are the best spots to watch sports?

Seating is general admission (first-come) – the pub does not sell reserved seats for events. For the best view of live sports on TV, grab a seat near the big screens: the front bar stools and tables face a large wall of TVs , and the outdoor beer garden also has a raised viewing area. If you have a favorite spot (e.g. a particular TV or table), arrive early on game nights to claim it.

Is there a dress code at New Market Hotel?

The dress code is very casual. Patrons wear jeans, shorts, T-shirts or work clothes – no formal attire is needed. It’s an unpretentious pub atmosphere. However, the front bar can be busy, so dress reasonably (e.g. avoid flip-flops on very busy nights) and keep a jacket/sweater handy for the cool indoor air-conditioning or outdoor evenings. There are no special uniform requirements or restrictions mentioned by the venue.

Are children allowed at New Market Hotel?

Yes. Families with kids are welcome in the dining areas and beer garden, especially early in the evening. In fact, a customer review specifically noted the hotel is “kid friendly until late evening” . Children can eat in the bistro and relax in the outdoor area with adults. (After late-night hours the venue functions as an 18+ pub space, so unaccompanied minors would not be allowed then.)

Is the venue wheelchair-accessible?

Yes – the main entrance, bar, and beer garden are all on one level with no steps, so it is wheelchair accessible. In fact, public listings mark it as “Wheelchair Accessible” . The accessible toilet is inside. The staff can assist with any special needs, and accessible parking spots are typically in the lot behind the pub.

Can I bring my pet to New Market Hotel?

Under normal circumstances, pets are not allowed inside. The pub has hosted rare pet events – for example a special “Dog Day” in February 2023 – but these are one-off promotions. Otherwise, only service animals are permitted indoors. If you have a dog, you’ll need to leave it at home or in the car (or check local dog-friendly spots nearby) unless the hotel announces another special pet-friendly event.

Are cameras or professional recording devices allowed?

Non-professional photography (e.g. phone photos with friends) is generally fine. Just be mindful of other guests’ privacy. Professional video/film crews or large equipment would need prior approval from management. (No explicit camera ban is posted, but always ask on the spot if unsure.)
