Turn Every Ticket Buyer Into Someone Who Sells Tickets for You

Your buyers already tell their friends about your event. Give every buyer of a paid ticket their own referral link, and pay them back part of their ticket price when friends buy through it, with the whole price back at your top target. You choose the words they share, the apps they share to and the card that goes with their link. The Influencers report then shows which buyers sold the most for you and what each unit of reward brought back.

  • More tickets sold to your buyers' friends
  • A reward you pay only when a friend buys
  • The return on every reward in front of you

Give Every Buyer a Link of Their Own

The moment a buyer pays for a ticket, they get a referral link of their own by email and on their order page, ready to send to the friends they want to come with. Each friend picks and pays for their own ticket, and every completed purchase through the link counts towards that buyer's reward. You turn referrals on for the event and leave out any ticket type that should not take part, such as crew or guest tickets.

Referral rewards suit any event where people come in groups: club nights, festivals, comedy runs and conferences where colleagues book together. The buyer does the selling to people who already trust them, and you only pay once the sale has happened.

Your Rewards page holds everything about referrals for the event, section by section: the referral link switch, the cash back, prizes, packs and sharing. Each section saves on its own, so a change to the apps buyers share to never moves your cash back.

  • Personal referral links: for every buyer of a paid ticket, by email and on their order page
  • Ticket types you choose: referrals on for the event, off for the ticket types you pick
  • Let buyers earn rewards for referrals: one switch on the Rewards page

Choose What Each Buyer Earns Back

Set three sales targets and, for the first two, the rebate: the share of the buyer's own ticket price they earn back. The top target always returns the whole price. A buyer earns the rebate for the highest target they reach, so the reward grows with every friend who buys and never passes what they paid. Pick low targets to get many buyers sharing a little, or higher ones to reward the few who bring a whole group.

The tiers do not add together. A buyer who reaches the second target earns the second rebate in place of the first, and a buyer who reaches the third gets their ticket free. Because the reward is a share of the ticket the buyer paid for, a VIP buyer earns more back than a general admission buyer at the same target.

Once rewards are on and the first ticket sells, the tiers stay fixed, so every buyer keeps the offer they saw when they paid. Set your targets before the on-sale, and choose a cost your ticket margin can carry at the top tier.

  • Three reward tiers: a sales target and a rebate at each step
  • Full price back at the top: the whole ticket price for your biggest sharers
  • Terms that stay fixed: every buyer keeps the offer they saw when they bought

Show Buyers What They Can Earn Before They Pay

Turn on Show referral rewards upsell and your event page explains the reward tiers before the buyer checks out, so they buy knowing that bringing friends can win their money back. The page they see after paying shows the price their ticket drops to at each of your targets, and their order counts the tickets they have referred so far, so every buyer knows how close they are to the next step.

Buyers follow their own results on their order: the friends who bought through their link, the people who came through those friends and their place among everybody sharing your event. A buyer who can see they are one sale from a free ticket has a reason to send their link once more.

  • Referral rewards upsell: the offer explained on your event page before checkout
  • Cheaper or free: the price their ticket drops to at each target
  • Referred so far: counted on the buyer's order

Put Your Words and the Right Apps in Every Buyer's Hands

Choose the message your buyers start with, and their personal link is added after it, so every post carries your words and a link that counts their friends' sales. Offer every app, or untick the ones that do not suit your crowd and keep WhatsApp, Instagram Stories, TikTok or whichever apps your buyers use. Copy link is always there for anything else.

The choice of apps covers Facebook, X, WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, Threads, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Reddit, Pinterest, LINE, Snapchat, TikTok, email, text message, the phone's own share sheet, Instagram Stories and Copy link. On a phone, the apps that only work there come first. Offer every app when your crowd is mixed, and choose a short list when you know where your buyers talk, so the buttons they see are the ones they use.

  • Message buyers share with their link: the words every buyer starts with
  • Where buyers can share: every app, or only the ones you tick
  • Copy link: for any app that is not on your list

Give Every Buyer a Share Card Worth Posting

Every buyer gets a share card built from your event artwork, with your message and their link, on the page they see after paying and in their order. Each post then shows your event's own picture beside the link. Turn on drawn share cards and each new buyer also gets a picture made for them, in the look you choose for the event or your brand's default look.

Choose Poster for bold shapes like a gig poster, Neon for a night-time glow, Collage for torn paper and printed textures, or Dream for soft painted light. Set how many drawn cards each event pays for and a monthly budget for your whole brand on the brand's Rewards page, where Spent this month shows what drawn cards have cost so far. An event that chose its own look keeps it when the brand default changes.

  • Share card from your artwork: for every buyer, after checkout and in their order
  • Four looks: Poster, Neon, Collage or Dream, for the event or the whole brand
  • Monthly budget: one amount covering drawn cards on every event in your brand

See Whether Your Rewards Pay for Themselves

The Influencers report puts your buyers' sharing, the visits it brought to your event page, the revenue from their friends and the rewards you owe side by side. Revenue referred by buyers shows what each unit of reward brought back, with a marker for where most referral programmes land, and Effective marketing cost shows your rewards as a share of that revenue. Share of Total Revenue sets referred revenue and rebates against all your ticket sales, so you can decide whether to raise a reward or hold it.

Referral Network Analysis shows your share rate, the share of your buyers who passed their link on, against a typical rate, with the visits their links brought each day. Visits bunched around your on-sale and quiet after it tell you buyers shared once and stopped, which is the moment for a reminder or a prize to chase. Reward Targets sits beside the results so you can see whether your tiers are within reach.

  • Return on rewards: referred revenue for each unit of reward you owe
  • Share rate and clicks by day: how many buyers shared and when the clicks came
  • Share of Total Revenue: referred revenue and rebates against all your sales

Find Your Strongest Sharers Before the Next On-Sale

Tickets referred by customers ranks every buyer who shared by the tickets their friends bought, with the visits their link brought, the revenue they brought in, what they paid for their own ticket and the reward they earned. Sort by any column to find the buyer whose friends look and do not buy, or the one who sold tickets to a whole group. Sales referred by buyers shows whether many buyers brought a friend or two or a few buyers brought dozens.

Influencers covers the buyers who share their own link. The sales your street team and resident DJs bring in through their promoter links appear under Sales by Promoter, and a tracking link on a post or a poster shows what that placement sold. Between the three, you see which kind of word of mouth sells the most tickets for your events.

  • Tickets referred by customers: every buyer's clicks, referred tickets, revenue and reward
  • Sales referred by buyers: how many buyers referred one ticket, two or many more
  • Promoters beside buyers: team sales stay under Sales by Promoter

Set Up and Read Your Referrals by Asking Fai

Tell Fai, the assistant inside your dashboard, the targets and rebates you want, the apps buyers should see or the look for drawn cards, and she shows you the whole change before she makes it. Ask her which buyers brought in the most friends, what your rewards have cost so far or how far one buyer's sharing reached, and she follows their chain of friends and friends of friends link by link.

  • Ask Fai: set your tiers, apps and share cards in a sentence
  • Friends of friends: how far one buyer's sharing reached
  • You approve each change: nothing changes until you say so

How Organisers Use Referral Rewards

  • A Club Night With a Loyal Crowd

A promoter sets low targets so a buyer who brings two friends gets money back, and offers WhatsApp, Instagram Stories and Copy link only. Most groups book together through one link, and Influencers shows which regulars bring a group every month.

  • A Festival Selling Group Camping

A festival keeps the top target high and the full ticket back as the headline, turns on drawn share cards in the Neon look and sets a monthly budget for the brand. Buyers post a card made for them, and the leaderboard shows the few fans who sold a whole campsite.

  • A Conference Filled by Colleagues

A conference turns referrals off for speaker and sponsor tickets and keeps them on for delegate passes, with LinkedIn and email offered. Delegates send their link to their own teams, and finance reads the effective marketing cost before the next edition.

  • A Comedy Run Across Several Nights

A comedy promoter shows the reward offer on the event page and checks Referral Network Analysis after each weekend. When clicks drop after the first week, they add a prize to give buyers a fresh reason to share.

Questions About Referral Rewards

Referral rewards

Every paid ticket, unless you turn referrals off for that ticket type or for the event. A free ticket can still be shared, but it has no price for the buyer to earn back. When a buyer holds more than one eligible ticket, their reward is based on the highest-priced one.

A new event starts at 10% back after 2 referred sales, 30% after 5 and 100% after 8. Each target can be from 1 to 10 sales and must rise from tier to tier. The first rebate can be 5% to 95% and the second 5% to 100%, in steps of 5%, and the top tier always returns 100%.

A completed ticket purchase through the buyer's link. Opening the link or starting checkout does not count. A buyer earns a reward only for sales through their own link, and only when they are not on your event team.

If rewards were on when the first ticket sold, the tiers stay fixed, so every buyer keeps the offer they saw. If rewards were off when sales began, you can turn them on and set the tiers later, and they stay fixed from then on.

No. It is the reward that buyer has earned from the sales they brought in, worked out from the price of their own ticket. It does not say whether the refund has been issued yet.

Up to 280 characters of plain words. Leave it empty and buyers start with our standard wording. If you never choose, buyers see every app, with Copy link last. Text message, the phone share sheet, Instagram Stories and TikTok appear on phones only.

Each drawn card costs your brand a small amount from the monthly budget you set. Each event pays for 500 drawn cards unless you enter another number, up to 10,000, and 0 pauses drawing. When the budget runs out, buyers get the card from your artwork until the next calendar month or until you raise the budget. The card from your artwork is free for every buyer.

Typical referral programmes bring in five to ten times what they cost, and Influencers shows that band beside your own figure. A return below five times can mean the reward is generous for the sales it brings in. A return well above ten times can mean you can afford to offer more.

The share rate covers this event only. If you link events for referrals, the revenue, sales, clicks and the buyers in the table include those linked events too. On a free event the money figures stay at zero, because they are worked out from ticket prices.

You need an owner or admin login for the event to change rewards and sharing, and for the brand to set the monthly budget and default look. With a Stats or Limited Stats login you can read Influencers but change nothing, and a Limited Stats login hides the revenue and purchase price columns.
