- Price releases open with nobody at a keyboard
- Buyers find the right ticket quickly
- Promised tickets kept back from public sale

## Set up each kind of ticket your buyers can choose

Create a ticket type for each kind of admission, such as General Admission, VIP, Friday or an accessible companion ticket. Enter its name, its price and how many you can sell, and describe what the buyer gets. Sell a fixed bundle, such as a pair of tickets bought together. Give a ticket its own venue, or send buyers to another ticketing page for one ticket type. While your event is on sale, you can duplicate, reorder, take off sale or mark as sold out any ticket type.

- **Ticket types**: price, allocation and description for each kind of admission
- **Free tickets**: free admission with the same limits and entry rules
- **Duplicate a ticket type**: a copy of its settings under a new name
- **Tags for your team**: labels buyers never see

![Ticket Fairy Create Ticket Type form with General Admission, its price and Maximum Number of Sales](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-ticket-page-form--create.png)

## Raise your price as each release sells out

Make early bird, first release and final release their own ticket types, each with its own price and allocation. Choose when each one goes on sale: at a date and time, when the release before it sells out, or whichever comes first. Keep a release hidden until a date or until the one before it sells out, or show it only to buyers in the countries you choose. You can also hide a release at a set time. Buyers always see a ticket they can buy, and the next price opens the moment the last one runs out.

- **Release tiers**: one ticket type for each price step of the same admission
- **Sale windows**: a start and end date in your venue's time zone
- **Hidden releases**: revealed by a date, a sell-out or the buyer's country

![Ticket Fairy ticket type form with At a specific time on a specific date chosen and a Sales Start Date and Sales End Date entered](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-ticket-page-form--sale-window.png)

## Help buyers find the right ticket quickly

Group your ticket types into categories around the choice a buyer is making, such as Friday, Saturday, Full Weekend or VIP. Your event page shows each category under its own heading with its releases together, so buyers compare days and areas before prices. A category with only hidden tickets stays off the page. Drag your ticket types into the order you want buyers to see, and add a badge to a ticket type you want to stand out.

- **Ticket categories**: a heading on your event page for each group of tickets
- **Ticket order**: drag ticket types into the order buyers see
- **Badges**: a short label on a ticket type

![Ticket Fairy Ticket Categories section of an event's Tickets page, with four categories and the resale type each one uses](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-ticket-categories--categories.png)

## Keep tickets back for guests, competitions and partners

Set part of a ticket type aside for an artist's guest list, a radio giveaway or a sponsor whose contract names a number. Name each reserve after the person or partner it is for, so you can see who took what. Held tickets leave the public on-sale as soon as you save, and your sales figures stay the same. When you invite people to buy from a reserve, it shrinks as they buy. Remove a reserve, and what is left goes back on sale.

- **Hold tickets**: named reserves inside a ticket type
- **Invite from a reserve**: invited buyers buy from the tickets you held
- **Back on sale**: unused held tickets go back on sale

![Ticket Fairy Hold tickets setting with two named holds on a general admission release](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-tickets--hold-tickets.png)

## Spread high-demand tickets across more of your fans

Set how many of a ticket type one order can hold, and how many one customer account can buy across all its orders. Use both on a release you expect to sell out fast, so more of your fans get tickets. Each ticket type keeps its own limits, so a VIP ticket can have a tighter limit than general admission. Your event page never offers a buyer more than the limit you set.

- **Limit per order**: the most one basket can hold of this ticket type
- **Limit per account**: the most one customer account can buy across its orders
- **Bought in multiples**: pairs or any fixed bundle

![Ticket Fairy ticket type form with Set custom maximum quantity per order turned on and a limit of six](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-ticket-page-form--purchase-limits.png)

## Sell each day of your festival from one event page

Run a multi-day festival or conference as one event, with a category for each day and one for the full run. Give each day ticket its own doors-open and last-entry times, so your door team admits a Saturday ticket on Saturday only. A full-run ticket opens and closes with the event, and you can admit its holder once a day. Buyers compare the full weekend, the single days and the upgrades on one page and pay once.

- **Day and weekend tickets**: a category for each day and the full run
- **Door times by ticket**: doors open and last entry for each ticket type
- **Entry once a day**: repeat scans limited to each day of the run

## Build the ticket plan your event needs

- ### Ticket types

Give each kind of admission its own price, allocation, description and purchase limits.
- ### Release tiers

Open each price release at a date, when the one before sells out, or whichever comes first.
- ### Hidden tickets

Keep a ticket off your event page until a date, a sell-out or a buyer's country reveals it, or until a code or invitation does.
- ### Ticket categories

Show day, weekend, area and VIP tickets under their own headings on your event page.
- ### Hold tickets

Keep named reserves out of the public on-sale for guest lists, competitions and partners.
- ### Purchase limits

Limit how many one order and one customer account can buy of each ticket type.
- ### Door times by ticket

Give a ticket type its own doors-open and last-entry times, so each day ticket works on its own day.
- ### Tickets sold elsewhere

Send buyers to another ticketing page for one ticket type, beside the tickets you sell on Ticket Fairy.
- ### Sold out when you choose

Mark a ticket type as sold out and choose whether buyers who already have it in their basket can finish checkout.
- ### Scheduled go-live

Choose the date and time your event page goes public, in your event's time zone.
- ### Waiting room for busy on-sales

A queue turns itself on when arrivals climb and moves buyers into checkout in turn, showing each buyer their place.
- ### Event series

Keep each edition of a club night, tour or festival together, add future editions by their name and give buyers one page for the upcoming dates.
- ### Refundable deposits for free events

Ask for a refundable deposit on a free RSVP ticket and give it back when the attendee checks in, so fewer people book and then stay away.
- ### Time slots and reserved seats

Sell entry by date and time, or numbered seats from a seat map.

## Questions About Ticket Types & Pricing

### Ticket types & pricing

#### What is the difference between a ticket type and a release?

A ticket type is what the buyer gets, such as General Admission or VIP. A release is a price step for the same admission, such as early bird and final release. Each release is its own ticket type. Put releases for the same admission in one ticket category, because a release that waits for the one before it looks only at earlier ticket types in its own category.

#### Can I change who pays the booking fee after I create tickets?

No. Decide whether buyers pay the fee or you absorb it before you create the first ticket type, because you cannot switch between the two once ticket types exist.

#### How many tickets can one customer account buy?

You choose a number from 1 to 20 for each ticket type. The limit counts the active tickets of that type across all of the account's orders. A buyer whose email has no customer account yet is not held to it on a first purchase, so set a limit per order as well when the first order matters.

#### Can I change a reserve after I save it?

No. The name and the number of a reserve are fixed once you save it. Remove it and add a new one with the number you want, and what the old reserve still held goes back on sale.

#### Will tickets be on sale the moment a scheduled event goes live?

Only if every ticket is on sale by then. A ticket type with its own sale window still waits for that window. Schedule at least fifteen minutes ahead, and allow about a minute, because Ticket Fairy checks the schedule once a minute.

#### Can I delete a ticket type?

Only while it has no orders and is not in a buyer's basket. Turn off Enable this ticket type to take it off sale while keeping it and its history.

#### Does an event series copy tickets to the next edition?

No. A series groups editions that keep their own tickets and event pages. Duplicate an earlier event to reuse its tickets, and let the series rule add the new one. The public series page shows only current and upcoming public editions.
