Acting as a counterweight to the influential brand’s Top 100 DJs poll, The Best of British Awards pays homage to the UK underground, responsible for the most innovative music we hear today. After a one-year pause in 2020 due to the pandemic, the 2021 edition of the awards were held in a virtual setting. This year’s awards, however, were slated to go down at the famous Steel Yard in London, hosted by Jamz Supernova. The 16th edition of the awards began with dance music sensation Fred Again… being awarded **Best Live Act** for his exploits this year at venues across Europe, North America, and beyond. The Best Live Act award was followed by the coveted **Best DJ** award, which was handed to Patrick Topping, chief of the Newcastle-based forward-thinking label, [TRICK](https://tricklabel.bandcamp.com/). The man behind Eliza Rose’s seminal hit ‘B.O.T.A – Baddest of Them All’ – Interplanetary Criminal – bagged the **Best Producer Award**while jungle revivalist Nia Archives won **Breakthrough Producer** after the trailblazing last 12 months she has had with her music. Moving on, the illustrious XL Recordings, led by Tim Palmer and Nick Halkes, won the **Best Label** award, followed by UK Garage imprint Shall Not Fade’s sub-label Time Is Now taking home the **Breakthrough Label** prize. In the rap categories, Novelist was presented with the **Best MC/Vocalist** award, while Scottish act Bemz was given the **Breakthrough Award of the Best MC/Vocalist** category. Giggs and Tiny Boost won **Best Rap Track** for their collaborative work on ‘[The Family](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oto3laDfZzQ).’ Undoubtedly, Printworks London was awarded the **Best Large Club**, while Hackney-based Night Tales took the **Best Small Club** award. Outlook Festival won, **Best Festival**; [PXSSY PALACE](https://www.pxssypalace.com/) and Sheffield’s [No Bounds Festival](https://noboundsfestival.co.uk/) won **Best Club Event** and **Best Boutique Festival** apiece. UK Garage legend Jeremy Sylvester won the **Underground Hero** award, an accolade that champions grassroots UK music communities.
