With his 2021 LP ‘Subconsciously’, Black Coffee earned his first-ever Grammy award in the best dance/electronic album category at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. He was up against Major Lazer, Marshmello, Illenium, Sylvan Esso and Ten City for this award. ##### \[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEdIJSg1\_Bc&w=853&h=480\] In his acceptance speech, Black Coffee [mentioned](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEdIJSg1_Bc&w=853&h=480), “I want to thank God for the gift of music, and being able to share it with the world and heal some souls and help people go through whatever they are going through in life.” He expressed his gratitude to the artists who collaborated with him on the album, including David Guetta and Pharrell Williams. He appreciated them by saying, “(they) believed in working with a smaller artist like myself and trusting me and trusting my ear.” Black Coffee thanked his fans and family members while introducing his eldest son Esona to the audience. *‘Subconsciously’*  is DJ Black Coffee’s seventh studio album. It features artists Pharrell Williams, David Guetta, Una Rams, Diplo, R YX, and Usher. In 2003, Black Coffee was chosen as one of two South Africans to participate in the Red Bull Music Academy – a series of workshops and lectures for aspiring musicians. He burst onto the dance music scene in 2005 with the release of his self-titled album ‘Black Coffee’. He earned ‘Breakthrough DJ of the Year’ in the Breakthrough in Association with Mixcloud category at the 18th edition of the DJ Awards held in Ibiza in 2015.
