As a formally trained musician as a child, Kornél got into electronic music very early on. He bagged his very first gig at the tender age of 14 and kicked off his musical journey in this realm spinning drum & bass, but he retired for a while.

The Stockholm-born DJ/producer later returned with a bang with house music when it was legal for him to play at clubs. He has taken charge of some of the hottest venues in Mexico, Hamburg, and Essen this year alone. In addition to making music, he also founded the Studio Barnhus record label alongside Petter Nordkvist and Axel Boman. Kornél has also had releases on Glasgow-based labels Numbers and Smallville.
Last year, he rolled out a nine-track album ‘Hotel Koko,’ featuring collaborations with singer-songwriter Aluna, MishCatt, and Kamohelo. His latest musical offering is an Alex Kassian remix of his track ‘Follow You.’ Kornél Kovács’ music has amassed millions of streams on Spotify, which include his popular tracks ‘Pantalón,’ ‘Castles,’ and ‘Szikra.’
Twisted Roots label-head Nancy Kyd is also set to hit the Papaya Playa Project stage later this month, alongside Kornél. You can enjoy “dub inspired house music” from this artist, who boasts 29 years of experience “on the decks.” DJ Nancy Kyd is also the one-half owner of the Summer Love Festival.
Papaya Playa Project resident DJ Rosano rounds out the bill for Astrobeat on June 24. The Mexico-born artist has shared stages with greats like DJ Tennis, Moodymann, Stavroz, and more!
