Puisant dans les traditions celtiques, anglaises, balkaniques et grecques, le groupe ambitionne de revitaliser la scène folk en Nouvelle-Zélande, puis dans le monde entier. « Pour les personnes qui ne viennent pas de Christchurch, j’espère qu’il y aura un sentiment de curiosité : chercher n’importe laquelle des références sur Google révélera assez vite ce dont je parle dans la chanson », explique le leader Starr avant la sortie du morceau. « The Goblin of Christchurch », la dernière création de The Norwesters, se présente comme un hommage à la ville de Christchurch. Sa mélodie entraînante et dansante s’articule autour d’une ouverture de cordes raffinée, de paroles accrocheuses, d’une batterie fulgurante et de rapides passages de luth. Le guitariste et chanteur a joué un set de quarante minutes devant un public intime de quinze personnes.
