In this article, we take a look at the musical minds behind some music festivals in the world of EDM. ## Day Zero Festival by Damian Lazarus The debut edition of Day Zero Festival took place in the jungles of Tulum on December 21, 2012. “I remembered that later that year, December 21, was the end of the Mayan calendar. The festival also supports a school by funding a music education program for the local children. Day Zero returns to Tulum for its 2026 edition on January 10, 2026. Kygo teamed up with his manager, Myles Shear, in 2021, bringing a tropical vibe and the warmth and positive energy of summer to the various locations that host the festival. “This year, we sold out the event and saw a 37% increase in hotel rates — outpacing even President’s Day Weekend, which is historically Aspen’s busiest. The demand and energy surrounding this festival reinforce that Palm Tree Crew has been amazing to see,” the Norwegian DJ/producer [revealed](https://www.rollingstone.com/product-recommendations/lifestyle/kygo-palm-tree-music-festival-essential-products-online-1235384457/) in an interview with Rolling Stone. The upcoming editions of Palm Tree Music Festival will take place in Napa, California (October 11, 2025), West Palm Beach, Florida (February 14, 2026), and Aspen, Colorado (February 20 – February 21, 2026). Kygo will be headlining the Napa and West Palm Beach festivals with The Chainsmokers and Calvin Harris, respectively. Calvin Harris and Sammy Virji will head to Aspen to headline the festival on Day 1, with Kygo and Mau P set to take charge of the headlining slot on the second day of the festival. “Kygo and I came together to found Palm Tree Crew Holdings in 2020 as a way to combine our passion for music and tropical aesthetics with innovative and synergistic business ventures. The festival made its debut in 2017 and returned once again in 2018. The 2025 edition, backed by Insomniac Events, was held at Huntington State Beach in Orange County. “Festivals are tricky for sure, but working hard at something I love is what brings me the most joy. I am bringing Sun Soaked back because it’s much bigger than ‘Kaskade,’ it’s a gathering where we can all appreciate the simple things we have around us, the magic of dancing with strangers and experiencing music we haven’t heard. It was created as a family-friendly sister event to Bestival, which was launched in 2004 and has been discontinued since 2018. The festival offers a variety of genres from pop, dance, hip hop, rock, indie, and more. English girl group Sugababes, dynamic EDM duo Basement Jaxx, and Welsh singer Tom Jones headlined the 2025 edition of Camp Bestival, with performances from Annie Mac, rock outfit The Lightning Seeds, a live set from Goldie, David Rodigan, singer Nieve Ella, and London’s Erol Alkan. ## Summoning of the Eclipse by Svdden Death The Caverns in Tennessee hosted the first two editions of Svdden Death’s festival, Summoning of the Eclipse, in 2022 and 2023 before terminating a contract that led to the cancellation of the festival in 2024. However, the Summoning of the Eclipse will return in 2025 by moving to Carson Creek Ranch in Austin, Texas, for Wicked Oaks Festival. Summoning of the Eclipse, Illfest, and Freaky Deaky team up for Wicked Oaks Festival, scheduled for October 25 – 26, 2025.
