# Build a website at your event's link

Festival teams and promoters whose buyers travel to the event need more than one page to sell it: the line-up, how to get there, where to stay and what to expect on the day. An event site gives that one event a full website at the link you already share, so buyers read everything and buy their tickets on the same website.

Give one event its own website with as many pages as it needs, such as the line-up, tickets, travel and practical information, and show it at the event link you already share in place of the standard event page.

For: Building a multi-page website for one event

Takes: 10 minutes

- [Open Event site](#step-1)
- [Choose how to start](#step-2)
- [Change the pages and sections](#step-3)
- [Preview the site](#step-4)
- [Show the site at your event's link](#step-5)
- [Check your event's link](#step-6)

## Before you start

- You are an owner or an admin of the brand that runs the event.
- Your event is created with its description and pictures, because the site starts from them.

1. ## Open Event site

Open your event and select **Event site**. The page shows the template your site starts from.
![Ticket Fairy Event site page before the event has a site, with the Festival template, Choose another template, Build my festival site and Start from a blank template](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-event-site--start.png) Event, Event site.
2. ## Choose how to start

Choose how you want to start the site.

   - **Build my festival site**: Fai fills in your pages from your event's details while you keep working. For an event that is not a festival, this button is **Build my event site**.
   - **Start from a blank template**: You start with the example content of the template and enter your event's details yourself.
**Note:** To start from another template, select **Choose another template** and choose one before you start.
3. ## Change the pages and sections

The site opens in the website editor. Select **Pages**, select a page, then select any heading, text or section on it and change it.

**Note:** While Fai fills in your pages, the editor says "Fai is filling in your site from your event's details. You can keep editing while she works." The editor saves each change as you make it, and buyers see your changes only after you publish.
**Tip:** The guide to building a website for your events shows each part of the editor, from adding sections and pages to choosing the look.

4. ## Preview the site

Select **Preview** at the top to open the draft in a new tab, with a link you can send a teammate.
5. ## Show the site at your event's link

Select **Publish** at the top, read the checks, then select **Publish site**.

**Note:** The dialog says what changes: "Your event's link will show this site instead of the standard event page. Buyers can still buy tickets on every page."
![Ticket Fairy publish window for an event site, saying the event's link will show this site instead of the standard event page, with Publish site](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-event-site--publish.png) Event site, Publish.
6. ## Check your event's link

When "Your site is live at your event's link" shows, select **Open your event's link** to see the home page of your site. Every page of your site has a bar at the bottom with a button to buy tickets, so buyers can buy from the page they are reading.

**Note:** From now on the top of the editor shows "Shows at your event's link". You share the same event link as before.

## Check what Fai drafted

1. ### Check a section Fai drafted

Select **Pages**, open a page such as Getting there or Info & FAQ, and select a section marked **Check before publishing**. Change any detail that is wrong, select **Save changes**, then select **Mark as checked**.

**Note:** A section marked **Check before publishing** stays off your live site until you mark it as checked and publish. In Getting there, enter the visa or entry requirements that apply and add the official government page in **Official entry requirements link**.
![Ticket Fairy event site editor with a Getting there section marked Check before publishing and the Mark as checked notice](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-event-site--ai-draft.png) Event site, Getting there section.
2. ### Publish the places and answers Fai drafted

Select **Content**, open **Places to visit** or **FAQ**, and edit each entry marked **Check before publishing**. Change its details, set **Status** to **Published**, then save it.

**Note:** Where Fai had no fact to answer a question, the answer is a note in square brackets, such as "\[Add your age limit\]". Replace it before you publish the entry.

Fai lists what she drafted and marks a section as checked, or publishes an entry, only after you confirm it is right.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

Show me what you drafted on the event site for \<EVENT NAME\> that I still need to check

## Publish your later changes

1. ### Publish the changes

Select **Publish changes** at the top, then **Publish changes**.

**Note:** The dialog says "Buyers who open your event's link will see your latest changes." Until you publish, your event's link keeps showing the last version you published.

Fai publishes your latest changes to the event site after you confirm.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

Publish the changes on the event site for \<EVENT NAME\>

## Show the standard event page again

1. ### Put the standard event page back

In the editor, select the more actions button at the top, select **Show the standard event page**, then **Show standard page**.

**Note:** The next person who opens your event's link sees the standard event page again. Your site stays in the editor for you to publish again.
![Ticket Fairy confirmation for showing the standard event page at the event's link again, with Show standard page](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-event-site--remove-from-event-link.png) Event site, More actions, Show the standard event page.

Fai takes the site off your event's link and shows the standard event page again after you confirm.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

Show the standard event page at the link for \<EVENT NAME\> again

## Questions you might have

Does anything about my tickets or orders change when the site is live?: No. Your tickets, prices, orders and check-in stay as they are. Promoter, referral, promo code and access code links work on every page of the site, and a password-protected event still asks buyers for its password first.

Why does my event's link still show the standard event page after I publish?: While your event takes pre-registrations, your event's link keeps the standard event page so pre-registration keeps working. After you publish, the editor says "Your site will show at your event's link when pre-registration ends." Your site then shows at the link when pre-registration reaches its end date, or as soon as you turn pre-registration off, with no need to publish again. The link also keeps the standard event page if you add time slots, a custom event page design or a link to another web address to the event after you start the site. The editor says which one applies, and **Publish** stops with the same reason. To turn time slots off, remove that address or switch a custom design back to the standard one, contact Ticket Fairy support, then publish.

When does the bar to buy tickets show on my site?: While your event is on sale, on every page of your site. Its button opens the checkout on the same page. While the event is sold out or not on sale, the bar is hidden and your Tickets page shows the event's own message.

Where is the standard event page while the site is live?: At your event's link with /tickets on the end, with the ticket selector. Buyers whose purchase the checkout on the site cannot finish, such as some events with seat maps, go there to buy. Search engines list your site at the event's link.

Why did my event's link go back to the standard event page by itself?: When your plan no longer includes event sites, or Ticket Fairy turns event sites off for your brand, your site is taken off your event's link within a minute and buyers see the standard event page. Your tickets and orders do not change. The Event site page says "Your event site was taken offline, so buyers see your standard event page." Your site and every page you made are kept. When event sites are available to your brand again, open the Event site page and publish the site again. To find out why event sites were turned off, contact Ticket Fairy support.

Why is there no event site for my event?: An event that uses a custom event page design, time slots, or a link that sends buyers to another web address cannot have its own site while it uses one of them. The Event site page says which one applies to your event. Contact us to change the design or the web address.

Why can I not let Fai build the site?: Fai building sites is part of some plans. When your plan does not include it, the Event site page says so and offers **Start from a blank template**, so you enter your event's details yourself. Contact us to add it.

What happens if a teammate already started a site for this event?: Each event has one event site. When a teammate started it first, the Event site page opens their site rather than making a second one, and you both work on the same site.

Does an event site count towards the websites my plan includes?: No. An event site does not count towards the number of websites your plan includes for your brand.

Why does publishing ask me to end my page test?: While a test of your event page is running, the site cannot show at your event's link, because the test counts buyers who would then see the site instead. End the page test, then publish the site.

What does the Destination festival template add for people who travel?: A Getting there page with the airports, the time to the event, how to get from the airport, the entry requirements with a link to the official source, and a tip for before people arrive. A Where to stay page shows the rooms you hold for the event, and buyers book a room with their tickets in the same checkout. It can also show real nearby hotel listings and a map link. When you enable the offers in Travel settings, buyers can search for hotels on Where to stay and flights on Getting there, then continue to secure booking checkout. See [Offer hotel and flight bookings on your event site](https://www.ticketfairy.com/guides/offer-hotel-and-flight-bookings-on-your-event-site) for setup and availability. An Explore page shows things to do nearby as cards with a map, and buyers can show places by type. The Info & FAQ page has practical information such as the currency, the usual weather and what to pack. When Fai builds the site, she drafts local arrival and visitor information from your venue's location; you enter the visa or entry requirements and official source yourself. When you start from a blank template, you enter the other details too. A venue you keep hidden is never put on the site.

Why is a section I see in the preview not on my live site?: It is a section Fai drafted, marked **Check before publishing**. Check it, select **Mark as checked**, then publish.

Why are there no rooms on my Where to stay page?: The page shows the rooms you add on the event's **Accommodation** page, and only while your event offers accommodation to ticket buyers. A room that is sold out shows as sold out, and the button to book a room shows only while tickets are on sale. Without rooms, the page can still show nearby hotel listings and a map link when your venue location is public and **Show nearby hotels** is on. Available hotel search is separate from room blocks and uses the offers you enable in Travel settings. When it has nothing to show, visitors do not see the section, and the preview tells you why.

Can I give a page the address tickets?: No. Your event's link already uses some page addresses, such as tickets, checkout and map, so the editor asks you for another, such as buy.
