Solving event ticketing problems
What should you compare when choosing a ticketing platform?
Compare what buyers pay, when you receive ticket revenue and whether you can see and export buyer details throughout the on-sale.
- For
- Choosing where to sell tickets for your next event
- Takes
- 6 minutes
Compare the final checkout price with the amount you receive for the same ticket. Ask for every service, processing and order fee to be included, not only the advertised rate.
When does the money reach your account? After the event, on a schedule, or as the tickets sell. If it arrives after the event, you pay the venue, the artist and production out of your own cash until then.
Whose customers are they? You want the name, the email and the order history of everybody who bought, while the event is on sale and exportable afterwards. If you cannot see who bought until the report is available, you are waiting on it before you can message those buyers about your next event.
One fee covers core ticketing and payment processing, your buyer pays it by default or you absorb it, it falls as ticket prices rise, and free events are free. Daily payouts are available for supported payment accounts in many countries, including supported accounts in Indonesia. Otherwise, the schedule shown on your event applies. Every buyer joins your brand's customer list from the first sale, and you can export them whenever you want.
How Ticket Fairy handles it
-
One fee, and the buyer pays it by default
Core ticketing and payment processing are the same fee rather than two, and you keep the ticket price you set. You can absorb it instead if you would rather the price on the poster be the price at the checkout.
-
Daily payouts, where they are available for your account
Daily payouts are available for supported payment accounts in many countries, including supported accounts in Indonesia. Otherwise, the schedule shown on your event applies. Confirm the schedule for your account before planning venue, artist or production payments.
-
Your customer list, from the first sale
Every buyer joins your brand's list while the event is still on sale, with what they spent and how many of your events they have bought from.
-
Export whenever you want it
Export your orders and tickets as CSV from the orders table. You can export the filtered order or ticket rows whenever you need them.
How to set it up
What you need before you start
- You know roughly what you'll charge and how many tickets you expect to sell. You need both to compare fees.
- You know when you have to pay the venue, the artist and production. That is what decides whether payout timing matters to you.
-
Price one real ticket, end to end
Take a ticket you plan to sell and ask each platform two things: what your buyer pays for it, and what lands in your account.
Those two numbers are the ones you can compare. A headline rate with fees stacked underneath it does not tell you what your buyer pays.
-
Ask when the money arrives
Ask for a documented payout schedule, and whether it changes for a first event, a large on-sale or an event further out than usual.
-
Ask what you can see and take with you
Ask whether you can see buyer names and emails during the on-sale, whether you can export them, and what happens to that list if you leave.
Customers, the list. -
Test the workflow before you commit
Test the shortlisted workflow with one event setup you already use and documented fee and payout examples before you commit.
Questions you might have
- Who pays the booking fee, me or the buyer?
- The buyer, by default. You can choose to absorb it instead, in which case the price on the poster is the price at checkout and the fee comes out of what you keep.
- Is there a monthly fee or a contract to start?
- You can start core ticketing without a credit card, setup fee or required monthly fee. Optional paid plans and custom agreements have their own terms.
- What does the fee cover?
- Payment processing, referral marketing, analytics and real-time reporting, mobile check-in and scanning, branded event pages and seat maps, and support with an account manager.
- How often do I get paid?
- Daily payouts are available for supported payment accounts in many countries, including supported accounts in Indonesia. Otherwise, the schedule shown on your event applies. Ask us to confirm your schedule before you plan around it.
- Do free events cost anything?
- There are no ticketing or payment fees for free tickets.
- Can I take my customer data with me?
- Yes. Buyers are on your brand's customer list from the first sale, and orders and tickets export as CSV whenever you want them.
