# Connect the social accounts that promote your events

A promoter with a festival account beside a club-night account, or a venue with its own Instagram, can bring each one into Ticket Fairy and say which events it promotes. Posts, replies to fans and follower presales from your Instagram accounts then run from your dashboard. You connect each account once, and sign in again when the connection runs out.

Bring your Instagram and TikTok accounts into Ticket Fairy and say whether each one promotes your whole brand, an event series, a venue or one event, so posts, replies and presales from your Instagram accounts run from your dashboard.

For: Running the social accounts that promote your events

Takes: 5 minutes

- [Open Accounts under Social](#step-1)
- [Start the connection](#step-2)
- [When to connect through a Facebook Page](#step-3)
- [Choose how to connect](#step-4)
- [Choose what the account is for](#step-5)
- [Sign in and approve the connection](#step-6)
- [Check the account card](#step-7)

## Before you start

- You're an owner or an admin of the brand. The Accounts page under Social is not in the menu for the brand's other team roles.
- You can sign in to the account you are connecting: a professional (business or creator) Instagram account, or a TikTok Business account.
- To connect through a Facebook Page, you're an admin of the Facebook Page your Instagram account is linked to.

1. ## Open Accounts under Social

Open your brand, select **Social** and then **Accounts**. Until your first account is connected, the page shows **Connect your first social account**.
![Ticket Fairy Social Accounts page before any Instagram or TikTok account is connected](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-social-accounts--empty.png) Social, Accounts, before the first account.
2. ## Start the connection

   Select **Connect an account**.

**Note:** Once the brand has an account, the button sits at the top of the page, above the account cards.

## When to connect through a Facebook Page

Connect through a Facebook Page when your Instagram account is linked to a Facebook Page you manage. One Facebook sign-in then brings in every Instagram account linked to your Pages, and each of them gets competitor lookup, hashtag search and mentions. Connect with Instagram when the account has no Facebook Page, or when you want that one account only.

**Note:** You can link the Facebook Page to an Instagram account later from its card, so choosing Instagram now closes nothing off.

3. ## Choose how to connect

Under **How would you like to connect?**, choose one, then select **Next**.

   - **Instagram**: You sign in with the Instagram account itself. The dialog marks this one Recommended.
   - **Through a Facebook Page**: You sign in to Facebook, and the Instagram accounts linked to the Pages you manage come in together.
   - **TikTok**: You sign in with your TikTok Business account.
**Note:** TikTok is listed only where it is available to connect.
![Ticket Fairy Connect an account dialog offering Instagram, Through a Facebook Page and TikTok](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-social-accounts--connect-an-account.png) Connect an account, step 1 of 2.
4. ## Choose what the account is for

Under **What is this account for?**, choose the part of your brand the account promotes.

   - **The whole brand**: The account speaks for every event on the brand.
   - **A recurring event series**: The account belongs to a festival, tour or club night that comes back, and covers every edition in the series.
   - **A venue**: The account belongs to one of the venues your brand's events use.
   - **One event**: The account exists for a single event, such as a one-off show.
**Note:** For a series that doesn't exist yet, select a suggestion under the picker or **Start a series from an event**, and the new series is chosen for you.
![Ticket Fairy Connect an account dialog asking what the account is for, with A recurring event series chosen and a suggested series to create](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-social-accounts--what-the-account-is-for.png) Connect an account, step 2 of 2.
5. ## Sign in and approve the connection

Select **Connect**, then sign in and approve Ticket Fairy on the Instagram, Facebook or TikTok page that opens. You come back to **Accounts** when you finish.

**Note:** Finish the sign-in within an hour of selecting Connect. After that the link has run out, and you start again from Connect an account.
6. ## Check the account card

Find the new card on Accounts. **Connected** means the account is working, and the badge beside the network says what the account is for.

**Note:** Ticket Fairy starts bringing in an Instagram account's posts and comments as soon as you connect, and its card reads **Not updated yet** until they arrive.
![Ticket Fairy Social account cards for a brand account, a festival series account marked Reconnect soon and a venue account](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-social-accounts--accounts.png) Accounts, with three connected accounts.

## Try these steps on your own event

Create a free account, build your event and follow the steps above in your own dashboard. It takes a few minutes and you do not need to book a sales call.

Your email address [Create a free account](https://manage.ticketfairy.com/welcome) [Book a demo](https://www.ticketfairy.com/event-ticketing/book-a-demo)

No setup fees. No required monthly ticketing fee. No credit card required.

## Or have it done for you

Fai, the assistant inside your dashboard, lists the ways to connect that are open to your brand and the accounts already connected, with what each one is for and whether it needs reconnecting. She cannot sign in to Instagram, Facebook or TikTok for you, so you make the connection itself on the Accounts page. Once an account is connected she can change what it is for and refresh its posts and comments, and she asks you to approve each change first.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

Which social accounts are connected to \<BRAND NAME\>, what is each one for, and does any of them need reconnecting

## Let Fai do it for you

Fai works inside your Ticket Fairy dashboard. Create your account, open Fai and paste the prompt above.

   [Create a free account](https://manage.ticketfairy.com/welcome) [Book a demo](https://www.ticketfairy.com/event-ticketing/book-a-demo)

No setup fees. No required monthly ticketing fee. No credit card required.

## Reconnect an account before it stops working

Select **Reconnect** on a card marked **Reconnect soon** or **Needs reconnecting**, and sign in again.

**Note:** Reconnect soon appears when the sign-in runs out within 10 days. The account keeps what it is for, its history and its settings.

Fai tells you which accounts need reconnecting and when. Reconnecting is a sign-in with Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, so you do it from the card.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

Do any of the social accounts on \<BRAND NAME\> need reconnecting

## Link the Facebook Page to an Instagram account

Select **Link Facebook Page** on the card of an Instagram account you connected directly, and sign in to Facebook.

**Note:** The same account then gets competitor lookup, hashtag search and mentions. The offer is not on the card of an account that already has them.

Fai tells you which Instagram accounts are missing competitor lookup, hashtag search and mentions. Linking the Page is a Facebook sign-in, so you do it from the card.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

Which Instagram accounts on \<BRAND NAME\> can't use hashtag search or mentions yet

## Change what an account is for

1. ### Open the account's settings

Select **Settings** on the account's card.
![Ticket Fairy Settings dialog for a connected Instagram account, with what the account is for, messages, automatic replies and posting approval](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-social-accounts--account-settings.png) The Settings dialog for one account.
2. ### Choose what it promotes and save

Choose under **What is this account for?**, then select **Save**.

**Note:** If a teammate saved the same account while you had it open, the dialog shows their settings instead and asks you to review them before saving again.

Fai changes what an account is for, including the series, venue or event it belongs to, and asks you to approve the change first.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

Set the Instagram account @\<ACCOUNT HANDLE\> on \<BRAND NAME\> to promote the \<SERIES NAME\> event series

## Disconnect an account you no longer use

1. ### Select Disconnect on the card

Select **Disconnect** on the account's card.
![Ticket Fairy confirmation before disconnecting a social account, saying the history is kept](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-social-accounts--disconnect.png) The Disconnect confirmation.
2. ### Confirm the disconnect

   Select **Disconnect** in the confirmation.

**Note:** The account stops updating, and you can no longer post or message from it. Its comments, messages and stats stay, and you can connect it again at any time.

Fai cannot disconnect an account. Use Disconnect on the account's card.

## Questions you might have

What does a connected TikTok account do?: It stays connected to the brand, series, venue or event you chose. Scheduled posts, replies to comments and follower presales run from your Instagram accounts, so a TikTok card shows **Not updated yet** and has no **Refresh**.

Why can't I see Accounts under Social?: Accounts is for owners and admins of the brand, because connecting an account decides who can post and reply for your events. Ask an owner or an admin to connect it, or to give you that role.

How many social accounts can one brand connect?: Up to 25. If the brand is full, Accounts shows "This brand already has the maximum number of connected social accounts. Disconnect one you no longer use, then try again." A disconnected account no longer counts, and reconnecting an account that is already on the brand never needs a free place.

Connecting through a Facebook Page says no Instagram account is linked. What now?: The message "No Instagram business account is linked to the Facebook Pages you manage." means the Facebook account you signed in with manages no Page that has an Instagram account linked to it. Link the Instagram account to the Page in Instagram or Facebook and connect again, or choose Instagram and sign in with the account itself.

Several accounts came in from one Facebook sign-in. Are they all for the same thing?: Yes. Every account one Facebook sign-in brings in gets the choice you made under What is this account for? Open Settings on any card that promotes something else and change it there.

The page says the connection link has expired. What happened?: The sign-in has to finish within an hour of selecting Connect, in the same browser. Select Connect an account and start again.

Do I need to select Refresh to get new comments?: No. New comments and messages come in on their own as fans send them, and the account's posts are checked again through the day. **Refresh** asks for the latest posts and comments straight away, which helps right after you post something you want to follow.

Does disconnecting delete the comments and messages?: No. Everything already collected stays, and connecting the same account again picks up where it stopped.
