Handle trader requests to move pitch at your event

Traders at markets and at every festival ask to move for good reasons: a van that needs hard standing, a pitch too far from the crowd. Taking those requests in one list, with each new pitch checked against your rules, answers every trader without phone calls and without breaking the plan.

Let traders at your event ask to move pitch from their own trader page, with their reason and where they would like to be. You move them to a free pitch that keeps your pitch rules, or decline with a note, and they see your answer on their page and by email.

Before you start

  • You are an owner, admin or producer on the event. The event's Operations page opens for those roles only.
  • The trader is approved and on a pitch on your site map, and has their trader page link.
  1. Open Move requests

Open the event, select Operations, select Site map, then select Move requests at the top.

Note: Each request shows the trader, the pitch they are on, their reason and where they would like to be.

A trader's request to move

On their trader page, the trader finds Move pitch, selects Ask to move, enters why and, if they like, where they would like to be. They can withdraw the request until you answer, and have one request open at a time.

  1. Choose the new pitch

Select Move them on the request, then choose a free pitch in New pitch.

Note: The dialog checks the pitch against your pitch rules and says whether it breaks one, or what is worth a look.

  2. Move them

Enter a note for the trader if you like, then select Move to this pitch.

Note: Leave Email the trader on to email them their new pitch. A pitch is refused when it overlaps another pitch, is outside the site boundary, is in a place that must stay clear, would go over a zone limit that counts this trader or the zone's power, or was taken in the meantime, while a keep-apart, keep-near or size rule only shows a warning.

  3. Check the trader's page

Open the trader's page from their row in Traders.

Note: Their Move pitch card says you moved them to the new pitch.

Questions you might have

What if the trader withdraws while I answer?
The first one counts. If they withdrew first, your answer is refused and the list shows the request as Withdrawn.
Why can a trader not ask to move?
They ask only once you have approved them and placed them on a pitch on the site map, and only one request at a time.
Can I move a trader to any area of the map?
Only to a free pitch: an area with the trader symbol, or named as a pitch, with no trader on it. The pitch has to keep the rules that must be fixed, such as fire lanes and zone limits.
Where do I see past requests?
Choose All above the list. Each request keeps who asked, who answered and when.
