description: "Let people outside your event team fill in a form or see and change their own entries on a public page from one of your spells, such as a volunteer sign-up or an artist's rider form. What they send arrives in the spell's lists, you share one link that stays the same, and you can take the page down at any time."

# Make a spell page public for the artists, suppliers and volunteers at your event

Volunteers signing up, artists sending their riders, suppliers checking their delivery slots: a lot of event work starts with someone outside your team filling something in. A public page from one of your spells collects it straight into the lists your event team already works from.

Takes:  7 minutes

- [Open the spell's public pages](#step-1)
- [Two kinds of public page](#step-2)
- [Select Make public](#step-3)
- [Choose the event](#step-4)
- [Fix a form that asks for a password or card details](#step-5)
- [Make the page public](#step-6)
- [Send the link](#step-7)

## Before you start

- You can make a page public in a spell you can change. The spell must be shared with your team first, because people outside your team see what your team has live, never your practice copy.
- The spell needs a page made for people outside your team. Ask Fai for one, such as "Add a page where volunteers sign up for a shift".

1. ## Open the spell's public pages

   Open the spell in the studio and select **Public pages** in the switch above the preview.

   **Note:** Public pages shows once the spell has a page for people outside your team. Each page says who it is for, whether it is **Public**, and how many answers it has.

   ![The studio of Festival helpers on Public pages: Pages for people outside your team, Volunteer sign-up (Not public, For anyone who has the link, Make public) and Supplier deliveries portal (Public, People confirm their email with a code, then see only their own entries, Made public by you on 28 Oct, Preview, Take down, its link with Copy link, 12 answers · newest 1 Nov, See answers), the note on links, then Answers that start automations with a switch for each form](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-spellbook--public-pages.png)

## Two kinds of public page

A page for anyone shows what your team put on it and takes answers to its forms from anyone who has the link. A page where people see their own entries asks each person to confirm their email with a code, then shows and lets them change only their own entries. Only the fields your team made public are shown, and what people send arrives as entries in the spell's lists.

2. ## Select Make public

   Select **Make public** on the page. A window opens with **What people outside your team see**, exactly as they will see it.

   **Note:** The preview sends nothing. Choose **Your practice copy** to look at changes you haven't shared yet: people outside your team never see it.

   ![Make "Volunteer sign-up" public window: What your team has live / Your practice copy, the page as people outside your team see it (the Sign up to volunteer form, This preview sends nothing), Event Harbor Festival, the line about Also update the public page, Cancel and Make public](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-spellbook--public-page-preview.png)
   *What people outside your team will see, before you make the page public.*
3. ## Choose the event

   Optional: In **Event**, choose the event the page is for. Leave **No event** if it isn't for one event.
4. ## Fix a form that asks for a password or card details

   If the window says "This page can't be made public yet", remove each field it names, or rename a field that asks for something else, such as a pin badge color. Select **Ask Fai to fix it** to have her do it.

   **Note:** Public pages never ask people for a password or PIN, a card number or security code, bank sign-in details or a sign-in code. Share the fix with your team, then select **Make public** again.

   ![The same window with This page can't be made public yet: public pages can't ask for a password, a card number or a sign-in code; "Card number" asks for a card number or card security code; what to do next; Ask Fai to fix it; the form with its Card number field; Make public unavailable](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-spellbook--public-page-credentials.png)
   *A form that asks for card details can't be made public until it is fixed.*
5. ## Make the page public

   Select **Make public** in the window. Ticket Fairy confirms with "“Volunteer sign-up” is public. Copy its link and send it to the people it's for."
6. ## Send the link

   Select **Copy link** on the page and send the link to the people it is for, such as in your volunteer email.

   **Note:** The link stays the same when you show newer changes, take the page down or make it public again.

## Or have it done for you

Fai builds a page for people outside your team, shows you what they will see, and makes it public after she asks. She gives you its link, shows your latest changes on it when you share them, and takes it down when you ask.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

```
Add a volunteer sign-up page to <SPELL NAME> for people outside our team, then make it public and give me the link
```

## Show your latest changes on a public page

1. ### Share the change with your team

   Select **Share with your team** and leave **Also update the public pages** ticked, then share. With one public page, the box says **Also update the public page**.

   **Note:** A public page shows the version it was made public at until you update it. Untick the box to keep showing people outside your team the page as it is now.

   ![Share this spell with your team window: Everyone on your team, What changes for your team (Added Field · T-shirt size, In Volunteer sign-up), Also update the public pages ticked with "People outside your team see these changes on "Volunteer sign-up", "Supplier deliveries portal" too.", Cancel and Share with your team](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-spellbook--share-public.png)
   *Sharing a change can update the public pages in the same step.*
2. ### Show the changes later

   Optional: If you shared without updating the page, select **Show your latest changes** on the page in **Public pages**, check the preview and select **Show your latest changes** again.

Fai shares your changes with your team and, unless you say otherwise, shows them on the public page in the same step. She tells you if a page could not be updated, such as when its form asks for card details.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

```
Share my changes to <SPELL NAME> and show them on the public page too
```

## Read the answers people send

1. ### Open the answers

   Select **See answers** on the page. Each answer shows newest first and is also an entry in your lists.

   **Note:** Each answer says whether someone sent a new entry or changed their own, and whether they confirmed their email.

Fai reads the answers a public page received and works through them with you in the spell's lists.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

```
Who signed up on the volunteer page this week?
```

## Let answers start the spell's automations

1. ### Turn on a form

   In **Public pages**, under **Answers that start automations**, turn on the form, then select **Turn on** to confirm.

   **Note:** Answers then start the automations that run when an entry is added to that form's list, as the person who turned each one on, at most 1,000 times a day for the spell. The switch changes your practice copy: share it with your team and show your latest changes on the page.

Fai turns a form's answers on or off as a start for the spell's automations, in your practice copy, after she asks.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

```
Let answers to the volunteer sign-up form start the welcome automation in <SPELL NAME>
```

## Take a public page down

1. ### Take the page down

   Select **Take down** on the page, then **Take down** again to confirm.

   **Note:** People can no longer open it or send answers, within a minute. The answers already sent stay in your lists. Select **Make public again** at any time to open it at the same link.

Fai takes a public page down after she asks, and makes it public again when you want.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

```
Take down the volunteer sign-up page in <SPELL NAME>
```

## Fix a page Ticket Fairy took down

1. ### Read why it was taken down

   Open **Public pages**. The page says "This page was taken down after a review" and gives the reason.

   **Note:** Everyone who can change the spell is told in the dashboard and by email when Ticket Fairy takes a page down.
2. ### Fix the page and ask for a check

   Ask Fai to fix what the reason says, share the fix with your team, then select **Ask for a check** on the page and confirm.

   **Note:** People outside your team can open the page again once the check is done. If nothing else needs changing, it is public again at the same link, and you are told.

Fai reads you why a page was taken down, fixes it in Practice, and asks for a check after you share the fix.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

```
Why was the supplier page in <SPELL NAME> taken down, and what do I need to fix?
```

## Questions you might have

**Who can make a page public?**

 The people who can change the spell: the person who made it, your brand's owners and admins, and any role the spell lets change it. Only they make a page public, show newer changes on it or take it down.

**What is Report this page?**

 Every public page has a "Report this page" link, where a visitor tells Ticket Fairy if the page asks for a password or card details, pretends to be someone it isn't, or is wrong in another way. Your team doesn't see the report. Ticket Fairy reviews what visitors report and can take the page down, with a reason your team reads.

**Does the link change when I update or take down the page?**

 No. A page keeps one link. Showing newer changes, taking the page down and making it public again all use the same link, so the link you already sent keeps working whenever the page is public.

**Which language does a public page show in?**

 The visitor's browser language, when it is one of the page languages Ticket Fairy offers, and English otherwise. Your team's own words on the page show as you entered them.

**Do search engines show public pages?**

 No. Public pages ask search engines not to list them, so people find a page through the link you send.

**Can I show a public page on my event page or website?**

 Not yet. You share each page by its link. Showing pages on your event page, in your website and as an embed comes later.

**What happens to people's answers if I take a page down?**

 They stay in your lists as entries, with their history. Taking a page down only stops new answers.

**Why is there no link on my public page?**

 If the page says "The link to this page isn't ready yet.", the page is public but its link can't be shown for your brand yet. Ask Ticket Fairy support when it will be ready.
