Reward members who bring friends into your event membership Memberships # Reward members who bring friends into your event membership Your members are the people most likely to bring their friends along. With member referrals, each paying member gets a link to share, and every friend who joins and pays earns them free months, so word of mouth fills your events with new members. Create it first on the **Offers** tab. 1. ## Open the Memberships settings In **Memberships**, open the **Settings** tab and scroll to **Referrals**. 2. ## Turn on member referrals Turn on **Reward members who bring a friend**. **Note:** Every paying member then sees their own referral link on their membership page. The reward settings appear once the switch is on. 3. ## Choose the reward In **Free time for each friend who joins**, choose 1 to 12 months. **Note:** The reward moves the member's next payment back by that many months, so they keep every perk and pay nothing for that time. 4. ## Limit the rewards one member can earn Optional: Enter how many rewards one member can earn in a year in **Most rewards per member each year**, from 1 to 100. **Note:** Leave it empty for no limit. 5. ## Give referred friends a discount Optional: In **Offer for the friend**, choose an offer for friends who join through a referral link. **Note:** The list shows only offers with a code. 6. ## Save the settings Select **Save settings**, and members' links start working straight away. ## Referrals that earn a reward A friend's join counts when they are new to your brand and join a monthly or yearly tier through the link. The reward waits 14 days after the friend's first real payment, so a payment that is refunded straight away never earns free time. Gift memberships, free tiers, free memberships from your team and free trials never count until a real payment goes through. A member can't refer themselves, someone on their household membership, or a membership paid with the same card. 7. ## Check your referral results On the **Overview** tab, under **What you give members**, check **Free months from referrals** and **Referrals waiting**. **Note:** The figures show the value of the free months and how many referrals were rewarded so far. Each member's page lists **Friends they referred** and whether each one earned a reward. ## Or have it done for you Fai, your AI teammate, can check sales, update your event or change a ticket when you ask. Fai can turn member referrals on or off, set the free months each referral earns and the yearly limit, and read your referral results. She asks before she saves a change. ### In your dashboard, with Fai ``` Turn on member referrals for with one free month for each friend who joins and pays, and show me the settings before you save them ``` ## Questions you might have **What happens if the friend's payment is refunded after the reward?** We take the free months back from the member who referred them, never to a date before today. The referral then shows as **Reward taken back after a refund** on that member's page. **Does Ticket Fairy charge a fee on referral rewards?** No. Free months carry no charge, so Ticket Fairy takes no fee on them. **Is this the same as the referral rewards on my tickets?** No. Ticket referral rewards give a ticket buyer part of their ticket price back. Member referrals give a paying member free months of their membership. **Can a member on a free tier refer friends?** No. Only paying members get a referral link, because the reward is free time on a paid membership. **What happens to waiting referrals if I turn referrals off?** Referrals still in their 14 days are not rewarded.
