Understanding your event reports

# See how many ticket buyers come back to your events

Club nights, festival series and touring promoters live on the audience that comes back. Buyer loyalty counts each person who buys from you once, however many orders and email addresses they used, and shows how many came back for more than one of your events. You can see whether your regulars are growing and which events turn first-time buyers into returning ones.

Use Buyer loyalty on your brand's Performance page to see how many of your ticket buyers came back for two or more of your events, how many events each buyer has bought for, and which events bring buyers back, for every event or one series, venue, place or set of events.

For: Growing the audience that comes back to every event you run

Takes: 5 minutes

## Your Performance page

- [Buyer loyalty](#step-1)

## Before you start

- You're an owner or an admin of the brand, or you have a **Stats** or **Limited Stats** login for it. A Limited Stats login sees the buyer counts with no revenue.
- Your brand has sold tickets for at least one event.

- ## Buyer loyalty

Open your brand, go to **Performance** in its **Statistics** menu and scroll to **Buyer loyalty** under the report. It covers the events you chose under **Show sales for** at the top of the page, and has its own period: **All time**, **Last 30 days**, **Last 90 days** or **Last 12 months**. The four figures are **Buyers**, the people who bought tickets in the period; **Returning buyers**, the people who have bought tickets for 2 or more of these events, with their share of your buyers under it; **Bought for one event**; and **Events per buyer, on average**. The chart and table under **How many of these events each buyer has bought for** split your buyers into **1 event**, **2 events**, **3 events**, **4 or 5 events** and **6 or more events**, with the **Share of buyers** in each and the **Net revenue in this period** they paid. **Events that bring buyers back** lists up to 5 events with the highest **Returning share** of their buyers, among events with at least 20 buyers in the period; select an event to open its **Performance** page.

**Note:** One buyer is one person, matched by account, email or phone: a guest checkout, the account the same person made later and an account with the same phone count once. The period decides who counts as a buyer; how many events each has bought for counts at any time, so someone who bought last year and again this month is a returning buyer in **Last 30 days**.
**Tip:** Select **Ask Fai** beside the periods. Fai reads the brand, the period and the events you chose, and suggests how to turn more first-time buyers into returning ones.

## Questions you might have

How does Buyer loyalty recognize the same person?: Orders with the same customer account, the same billing email or the same billing phone number belong to one person. Emails are matched without capitals or spaces at either end, and phone numbers by their digits, so "+44 7700 900123" and "+447700900123" match; a number with its country code and the same number without it do not match. A phone number with fewer than 7 digits, or one digit repeated, links nobody.

Why are buyers who share a venue email or a box office phone not joined together?: An email address or phone number used on the orders of 5 or more customer accounts is a shared contact, such as a venue's info address or a box office phone, not one buyer's, so it links nobody. Orders without an account do not count toward the 5, so a guest who buys many times with one email stays one person.

Can one person still count twice?: Rarely. Buyer loyalty joins accounts that are up to two links apart, for example a guest checkout, the account made later with the same email, and another account with the same phone. People linked only through a longer chain of accounts count as more than one buyer.

Which events does Buyer loyalty cover?: The events you chose under **Show sales for**: every event of the brand, an event series, specific events, one venue, or the events in a city or a country. With **Specific events**, Buyer loyalty takes at most 50 events and asks you to choose fewer above that. It counts your newest 2,000 events by start date; when your choice holds more, a line above the figures names how many it counted.

Why is the returning count here different from an event's New and returning buyers?: Buyer loyalty counts a buyer as returning when they have bought for 2 or more of the events you chose, at any time, in either order. An event's **New and returning buyers** on its **Insights** page uses the rule of the Returning label on its orders: the buyer had bought for another of your events before their first order for this one. The two answer different questions, so the counts can differ.

Which tickets count?: Tickets from buyers' orders, as each event's **Performance** page counts them. Complimentary orders, such as the guest tickets your team issues, are left out, and an order whose tickets were all refunded makes nobody a buyer. That is why **Net revenue in this period** can be a little lower than the Performance page: money kept on a fully refunded order, such as a fee, is in no row here.

Why is no event listed under Events that bring buyers back?: An event needs at least 20 buyers in the period to be listed, so a small event or a short period can leave the list empty. Choose a longer period, such as **All time**.

Why can I see buyer counts but no revenue?: A **Limited Stats** login sees the buyer counts with the revenue column hidden. Ask an owner or an admin of the brand to change your role if you need revenue.

How up to date are the figures?: Buyer loyalty is worked out at most once an hour for each period and choice of events, so a new sale can take up to an hour to appear.

Does Buyer loyalty show who my returning buyers are?: No. It shows counts and revenue only, never a person's name or contact details. To see each buyer's orders across your events, use **Customers**.

Can Fai read Buyer loyalty for me?: Yes. Ask in ordinary language for the period and the events you want. Fai reads the same figures, never names a person, and changes nothing.
