Understanding your event reports

# See which devices your ticket buyers order on

Club promoters and festival teams who sell through social media want to know whether buyers check out on a phone or a laptop, and in which app. The Devices report counts the orders for your event by what they were placed on, so you can test your event page on the devices your buyers actually use and aim your ads at them.

This is the Devices report within understanding who buys tickets to your event. You can return to the Demographics guide for age, gender and professions. [Understand who buys tickets to your event](https://www.ticketfairy.com/guides/read-your-audience-demographics)

Takes:  4 minutes

## Your Devices page

- [Devices](#step-1)

## Before you start

- You're an owner or an admin on this event, or you have the **Stats** or **Limited Stats** role for it. All four can open the report.
- Your event has orders. The report counts an order from the moment its payment goes through.

- ## Devices

  Open your event and select **Devices** under **Statistics**. The cards along the top show **Total Ticket Buyers** and the leader in each tab, and selecting a card opens its tab.

  - **Browsers**: The browser or in-app browser the order was placed in, such as Mobile Safari, Chrome or Instagram.
  - **Device Types**: Mobile, desktop or tablet.
  - **Platforms**: The operating system, such as iOS, Android, Windows or macOS.
  - **Device Brands**: The maker of the device, such as Apple or Samsung.
  - **Device Names**: The model, such as iPhone 15 or Galaxy S24.
  **Note:** Each figure counts orders, so a buyer who ordered twice counts twice and tickets your team issued are left out. **Include refunded and canceled orders** starts on; turn it off to count only the orders whose tickets are still valid.

## Or have it done for you

Fai and your own AI assistant through our MCP server can both read the Devices report and tell you what your buyers ordered on, with refunded and canceled orders left in or taken out.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

```
Look at the devices report for this event and tell me how many orders came from phones, which browser and app buyers used most, and whether that changes if you leave out refunded and canceled orders
```

### From your own assistant, over MCP

Connect your assistant to [our MCP server](https://www.ticketfairy.com/mcp-server) and ask it:

Keep `--read-only` in your MCP configuration. This task only reads data, so your assistant does not need tools that make changes.

```
Find my event by name, then pull its devices report and tell me the top browser, device type and platform with how many orders each one had
```

## From your terminal

Install the CLI from [our CLI page](https://www.ticketfairy.com/cli), sign in with `ticketfairy auth login`, and choose the brand you are working on with `ticketfairy brand use <BRAND_ID>`. `ticketfairy brand list` and `ticketfairy event list` show the IDs the other commands use.

You need an owner, admin, **Stats** or **Limited Stats** role on the event. The command prints the counts for kept orders and, as a separate list, the refunded and canceled ones.

### The browser, device type, platform, device brand and device name counts

```
ticketfairy event stats <EVENT_ID> --metric devices
```

### The same counts, ready for a script

```
ticketfairy event stats <EVENT_ID> --metric devices --output json
```

## Questions you might have

**Why is Total Ticket Buyers different from the number of tickets I sold?**

 **Total Ticket Buyers** counts orders, so an order of six tickets counts once and a buyer who ordered twice counts twice. Tickets your team issued are left out, and so is any order placed without a browser on record.

**Why does one tab add up to less than another?**

 An order counts in a tab only when its record names that detail, so an order with no device model on record is left out of **Device Names** and still counts in **Browsers**. **% of Total** is the share within that tab.

**What does Include refunded and canceled orders change?**

 While it is on, the report adds the orders you refunded, the ones a buyer resold and the tickets you canceled. Turn it off to see what the buyers you kept ordered on. An order that still has one valid ticket counts as kept either way.

**What is Others in the chart?**

 The ring chart shows the eight largest values and adds the rest together as **Others**. The table under it lists every value, ten rows at a time, and you can show more rows per page.

**Is this the same as the Devices tab under Traffic?**

 No. The Devices tab under **Traffic** counts everybody who opened your event page. This report counts only the orders, so comparing the two shows whether one kind of device opens the page often and orders less.

**Can I get this into a spreadsheet?**

 Yes. **Copy table** on any tab puts its rows on your clipboard, ready to paste. The CLI prints the same counts as JSON.

**How up to date is it?**

 The report counts an order as soon as its payment goes through, and the page reloads its figures every 20 seconds while you have it open.
