# Sell monthly and yearly memberships to your event fans

Venues, club brands and promoters with a loyal crowd can turn regulars into members who pay every month or every year. Members get a membership card that lets them into your events, plus the perks you choose, and you get income that arrives between on-sales.

## Before you start

- You're an owner or admin of the brand. Ticket Fairy support can see your memberships but can't change them.
- Your brand takes card payments, either through your own Stripe account or through TF Pay. A free tier works without one, but a paid tier can't open until payments are set up.
- Memberships is switched on for your brand. If **Memberships** is not in your brand menu, ask Ticket Fairy support to switch it on.
- You know your refund policy. Memberships start with no refunds, and you can let members get a payment back within a number of days instead.

1. ## Open Memberships for your brand

Open your brand and select **Memberships** in the brand menu.

**Note:** The **Overview** tab shows your members, your **Monthly income from memberships**, **What memberships earn** after fees, and **What you give members**.
2. ## Set up your join page

On the **Settings** tab, under **Join page**, enter the **Web address**, **Page title**, **Introduction** and **Cover image** fans see when they join.

**Note:** Your join page lives at ticketfairy.com/members/ followed by the web address, which needs at least three letters, numbers or dashes and can't match another brand's. If you change it later, the old link stops working.
3. ## Choose your refund policy

Under **Refunds**, keep **No refunds (default)** or choose **Members can get a refund within a number of days of a payment**, then select **Save settings**.

**Note:** **Days after each payment** takes 1 to 60 days and starts at 14. What you enter in **Your refund policy in your own words** shows on your join page before fans pay and on each member's membership page.

## Members who leave, by refund policy

With No refunds, a member who ends their membership keeps every perk until the end of the period they paid for, and is not charged again. With a refund window, a member who ends within that many days of a payment gets that payment back and the membership ends straight away. A member who has already come to an event that started, or had a perk marked delivered, in that period keeps their perks to the period end instead. Whichever policy you choose, you can refund a payment yourself from the member's page.

4. ## Add your first tier

On the **Tiers** tab, select **Add a tier**, then enter the name fans will see, such as Supporter or Inner Circle, in **Tier name**.

**Note:** On a brand with no tiers yet, **Create your first tier** on the overview opens the same dialog. A brand can have up to 50 tiers, and most start with two or three, so the step up from one to the next is clear.

## Monthly, yearly or free

A tier can have a monthly price, a yearly price or both, and the fan chooses when they join. A yearly price below twelve months of the monthly one gives fans a reason to commit for the year. A tier with no price at all is free, which suits a supporters' list you want to grow before you charge. Each member keeps the price they joined at, so a later price change applies only to new members.

5. ## Set the prices and currency

Choose the **Currency** members pay in, then enter the **Monthly price**, the **Yearly price** or both.

**Note:** Leave both prices empty for a free tier. Once a tier has members, its currency stays fixed, so create a new tier for another currency.
6. ## Limit how many people can join

Optional: Open **More options** and enter a **Member limit** for a tier you want to keep small, such as 100 founding members.

**Note:** When the tier is full, fans can join its waitlist. When a place opens, the first person waiting gets an invitation that holds it for 48 hours.
7. ## Add the perks members get

Under **Perks**, select a **Quick add** button or choose a perk from **Add another perk**, then enter its **Perk name** and **Details for members**.

**Note:** A new tier starts with **Free entry to events** already in the list. A tier can carry up to 30 perks.

## Perks Ticket Fairy runs for you

**Add another perk** lists these under **Ticket Fairy does this for you**. **Free entry to events** lets a member into your events with their membership card, with a limit on visits each billing period and guests if you allow them. **Discount on tickets** takes a percentage off your tickets at checkout. **Early access to tickets** lets members buy up to 720 hours before your general on-sale. **Members-only posts**, **Private community**, **Priority entry** shown on the card and at the door, and **Livestream access** are there too, with the perks members use at your events, such as **Early entry**, **Free drink or extra**, **Waitlist priority**, **Members' seats**, **Member credit** and **Birthday reward**.

## Members-only tickets, tables and add-ons

Any ticket type, table or add-on of your events can be for members only, or carry a member price, without being a perk. Open the ticket type, table or add-on on your event and go to its **Member access** section. Under **Who can buy this**, choose **Members only** to hide it from everyone else, for any member or only the tiers you pick. To keep it on sale to everyone and give members a lower price, enter a **Price for all members**, or open **Different prices for each tier**, at any price from free upwards, even above the usual price. Then select **Save member settings**. The **Member access** tab on your Memberships pages shows every ticket type, table and add-on of an event in one list, and your join page tells fans what each tier unlocks.

**Note:** A member pays the price for their tier, or the price for all members when their tier has none, and a member price on an item replaces the tier's ticket discount on that item. Members sign in with the email address they joined with to see and buy members-only items.

## Perks you deliver yourself

**Add another perk** lists these under **You hand these over yourself**: merchandise, a welcome pack, signed items, a meet and greet, VIP upgrades, food and drink, a birthday gift, a shout-out, a download, a vote, a name in the credits, or **Your own perk**. For each one you choose **How often you hand it over**, once, every billing period or at every event, and turn on **You post it** when it goes by post. Each one then waits on your **To deliver** tab until you mark it delivered.

8. ## Ask for a postal address when a perk is posted

Optional: Under **More options**, turn on **Ask for a postal address**, so fans enter where to send their perks when they join.
9. ## Open the tier to fans

Under **Who can join**, change **Draft** to **Open to join**, then select **Create tier**.

**Note:** A draft tier is hidden from your join page, so you can build every tier before any of them goes live. On a tier you already saved, the button is **Save changes**.
10. ## Check your join page

On the **Overview** tab, under **Your join page**, select **Open join page** and check that each open tier shows its prices and perks.

**Note:** Fans join and pay on that page, then get a welcome email and their membership card for Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

## Or have it done for you

Fai, your AI teammate, can check sales, update your event or change a ticket when you ask.

Fai can set up your membership page and refund policy, create and change tiers with their prices and perks, open or archive a tier, make tickets, tables and add-ons members-only or give them member prices, and read your members and earnings. She shows you each change and asks before she saves it.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

```
Set up memberships for <BRAND NAME> with a Supporter tier at 5 a month and an Inner Circle tier at 15 a month or 150 a year with free entry to every event, and show me both tiers before you save them
```

## Questions you might have

**How much does Ticket Fairy charge on memberships?**

Ticket Fairy keeps 5% of each membership payment, plus card processing. There is no monthly fee, and no fee on free tiers, free trials, free months or the free entry members use.

**When do members pay again?**

On the same day each month or each year, from the day they joined. If a payment fails, we try the card again over the next six days and the member keeps their perks for 7 days while we do.

**What happens to members when I change a tier's price?**

Each member keeps the price they joined at. The new price applies to people who join after the change.

**Can I stop selling a tier without ending anyone's membership?**

Yes. Select **Archive** beside the tier on the **Tiers** tab, then **Archive tier**. It comes off your join page, and everyone already on it keeps their membership, their card and their perks.

**How is a membership different from a season pass?**

A season pass is one payment for a set number of events. A membership renews every month or year, and its perks run for as long as the member keeps paying.

**Do memberships take money from the same account as my tickets?**

Yes. Membership payments go through the payment account your brand already uses for tickets, either your own Stripe account or TF Pay.

**Do membership prices include tax?**

Membership payments are charged at the price you set, with no tax added on top. If you charge tax on memberships, set prices that include it.

**Do members pay more when they join on a phone?**

No. Fans join and pay on your join page in their web browser, so the price is the same on every phone and computer, with no app store charge added.

**Do members get a refund if they cancel?**

Not unless you offer it. Memberships start with no refunds, so a member who cancels keeps their perks until the end of the period they paid for. You can offer a refund window of 1 to 60 days under **Refunds** on the **Settings** tab, and you can always refund a payment yourself from the member's page.

**Does a member price change when I run a promotion or lower the usual price?**

No. Members pay the price you set, which can be lower or higher than the usual price, or free, and it stays the same when you run another promotion or change the usual price.

**How do I put a members-only item back on sale to everyone?**

Open the ticket type, table or add-on, go to its **Member access** section and select **Reset to everyone**. Everyone can buy it again at its usual price, its member prices are removed, and it is shown or hidden on your event page as it was before.

**Who on my team can change memberships?**

Owners and admins of the brand can set up tiers, perks and offers and look after members. Team members with the **Stats** or **Limited Stats** role can see the overview, tiers, offers, posts and settings, but not the **Members** or **To deliver** tabs, and can't change anything. Ticket Fairy support can see your memberships and members to help you, but can't change them.
