# Send fans your ticket link automatically when they comment or message

Club promoters and festival teams get the same question under every event post: where do I get tickets? An auto-reply answers each fan in their private messages within seconds, day and night, and counts the tickets they buy through it. You start from auto-replies already filled in for your event, so turning one on takes a few minutes.

Turn on an auto-reply for your event, and every fan who comments TICKETS under your event posts gets the ticket link in a private message, with the waiting list instead once the event sells out. Ready-made auto-replies also run a presale list, a guest list, answers from your event details and a thank-you for story mentions, and each one counts the tickets bought through its link.

For: Selling tickets to the fans who comment on and message your social accounts

Takes: 8 minutes

## Before you start

- You're an owner or an admin of the brand. If you can't open Auto-replies, ask an owner or an admin to set this up.
- Your Instagram account or Facebook Page is connected to the brand.
- Your event is published and its tickets are set up.

1. ## Open Auto-replies under Outreach

Open your brand, select **Social**, then **Outreach** and **Auto-replies**.

**Note:** **Event flows** is at the top of the page. Your auto-replies are listed below it, with the messages each one sent and the tickets it sold.
![Ticket Fairy Auto-replies page with the ready-made auto-replies for an event and the list of auto-replies with their messages sent and tickets sold](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-social-workflows--auto-replies.png) Auto-replies, with the ready-made auto-replies for one event.
2. ## Choose your event

Under **Event flows**, choose the event under **Event**.

**Note:** The auto-replies made for that event appear. **Suits this event now** marks the ones that fit where its ticket sales are today.

## The ready-made auto-replies

Each ready-made auto-reply is filled in from your event, and a fan gets its message in their private messages on Instagram or Facebook.

- **Ticket link**: A fan who comments TICKETS gets your event's ticket link. Before tickets go on sale the message says when they do, and once the event sells out it sends the waiting list instead, if the event has one.
- **Presale list**: A fan who comments PRESALE is asked to follow your Instagram account and then for their email, and joins your presale list. You invite the whole list later, in one go.
- **Guest list**: A fan who comments GUESTLIST gets a personal invitation link to the event. When the event has ticket types named as a guest list, the link opens only those.
- **Waiting list**: A fan who comments WAITLIST gets the waiting list while the event is sold out, and the ticket link while tickets are on sale.
- **Answers about the event**: A fan who messages INFO gets an answer from your event details, such as the doors time, the venue and the age limit. When your details don't answer the question, the fan is told your team will reply, and the conversation waits for your team in To do.
- **Thanks for story mentions**: A fan who mentions your Instagram account in their story gets a thank-you, which also asks whether you may share their story on yours.

3. ## Select a ready-made auto-reply

Select **Ticket link**, or the auto-reply you need.

**Note:** **Set up an auto-reply** opens on **Review**, already filled in. The message on it shows what a fan gets, with an example fan's name and your event.
![Ticket Fairy Set up an auto-reply dialog on its Review step for the ticket link auto-reply, with its account, keyword, event, example message and options](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-social-workflows--ticket-link-review.png) Set up an auto-reply, on Review.
4. ## Optional: open When

Optional: Select **Change** beside **When** to change the keywords or the posts the auto-reply watches.
![Ticket Fairy auto-reply builder at its When step, with the Instagram account, the name, Comments, the keyword TICKETS and the posts about the event chosen](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-social-workflows--builder-when.png) When: the account, the keyword and the posts it watches.
5. ## Optional: change the keywords

Optional: Enter each word under **Keywords**, and press Enter after each one.

**Note:** You can add up to 30 keywords, and capital letters don't matter. **Exact word** matches TICKETS on its own, and **Anywhere in the text** also matches it inside a longer word.
6. ## Choose which posts it watches

Choose under **Which posts should we watch?**.

   - **Posts about your event**: Shows your event's name, and is chosen for you. It watches every post you publish from Ticket Fairy for this event, including the ones you publish later.
   - **All posts**: Watches every post on the account, including the posts you publish in the Instagram or Facebook app.
   - **Selected posts**: Watches only the posts you choose under **Posts to watch**, up to 100.
7. ## Optional: open What they get

Optional: Select **What they get** in the row of steps at the top to change the messages.

**Note:** **Message while tickets are on sale** needs {link}, where the ticket link goes. **Draft this for me** drafts a message in your brand's voice.
**Tip:** **Messages for when tickets are not on sale** holds the messages for a sold-out event, one with a waiting list, one not on sale yet and one that has ended. An empty one sends the standard message.
![Ticket Fairy auto-reply builder at its What they get step, with the ticket link message and the messages for a sold-out event, a waiting list, an event not on sale yet and an event that has ended](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-social-workflows--builder-what.png) What they get, with the messages for each state of your ticket sales.
8. ## Optional: open More options

Optional: Select **More options**, then **Change these options**.

**Note:** The line above the options says what they are set to now. Most auto-replies need no change here.
![Ticket Fairy auto-reply builder at its More options step, unfolded, with answer each person once, stop when the event ends, the start and stop dates, the daily limit and the public replies](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-social-workflows--builder-options.png) More options, unfolded.
9. ## Optional: change the options

Optional: Change the options you need.

   - **Answer each person once**: On by default. A fan who comments again on the same post, or messages again in the same conversation, gets no second message.
   - **Stop when the event ends**: On by default, so the auto-reply stops answering once the event is over.
   - **Start on**: The auto-reply starts answering on this date and time, on the event's own clock. Empty means it starts when you turn it on.
   - **Stop on**: The auto-reply stops answering on this date and time. Empty means it keeps going.
   - **Most people answered each day**: A number from 1 to 10,000. Once that many fans were answered in the last 24 hours, the next fans get nothing until the count falls again.
   - **Public replies under the comment**: One reply per line, up to 10. One of them is posted under the fan's comment, picked at random, so the fan knows to check their messages.
   - **Only followers get the link**: On an Instagram account, a fan who doesn't follow you is asked to follow first. They get the link when they comment again.
10. ## Turn the auto-reply on

Select **Review**, then **Turn on now**.

**Note:** **Save and turn on later** saves it switched off, so no fan gets anything yet.
**Warning:** Fans get answers as soon as it's on, and a message that has gone out can't be called back.
11. ## Check the auto-reply is on

Find the auto-reply in the list below **Event flows**. Its switch under **On / off** reads **On**.

## Try these steps on your own event

Create a free account, build your event and follow the steps above in your own dashboard. It takes a few minutes and you do not need to book a sales call.

## See the tickets an auto-reply sold

1. ### Open the auto-reply's results

Select **Results** on the auto-reply's row.

**Note:** The top of the window counts **People answered**, **Messages sent**, **Tickets sold** and **Revenue**. Below them, open any fan, newest first, to see what they sent and what happened.
![Ticket Fairy Results window for a ticket link auto-reply, with people answered, messages sent, tickets sold and revenue, and each fan it answered](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-social-workflows--flow-results.png) Results, with the tickets and revenue from the auto-reply's link.

Fai tells you what an auto-reply did and sold: the fans it answered, the messages it sent, the tickets and revenue from its link, and what happened for each fan.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

How many tickets has the ticket link auto-reply for \<EVENT NAME\> sold

## Turn on an auto-reply the assistant suggests

1. ### Open the suggestion

Select **Social**, then **Assistant**, and find the card marked **Auto-reply**.

**Note:** The Social Assistant suggests the ticket link when your event is announced or about to go on sale, the waiting list when it sells out and has one, and answers about the event on the day. It never suggests one your account already runs.
![Ticket Fairy Social Assistant card suggesting the ticket link auto-reply for an event, with what starts it, the example message and Approve and turn on](https://www.ticketfairy.com/embeds/posters/marketing-social-assistant--flow-suggestion.png) An auto-reply the assistant suggests.
2. ### Approve and turn it on

Select **Approve and turn on** on the card.

**Note:** The auto-reply is set up and switched on straight away. Change or pause it on Auto-replies at any time.

Fai lists the auto-replies the assistant suggests and approves one, which sets it up and turns it on. She asks before she approves it.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

Has the social assistant suggested any auto-replies for \<EVENT NAME\>

## Pause an auto-reply

Turn off the switch under **On / off** on the auto-reply's row.

**Note:** Nothing is sent until you turn it back on. Links and invitations already sent keep working.

Fai pauses an auto-reply, or turns one back on, after you approve it.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

Pause the ticket link auto-reply for \<EVENT NAME\>

## Change or delete an auto-reply

1. ### Open the auto-reply

Open the menu at the end of the auto-reply's row and select **Edit**.

**Note:** You can change its name, keywords, posts, messages and options, then select **Save changes**. The account and what starts it stay as they are.
2. ### Delete it

Select **Delete** in the same menu, then **Delete auto-reply** in the confirmation.

**Note:** The auto-reply stops answering fans at once. Links and invitations it already sent keep working.

Fai changes an auto-reply's keywords, posts, messages and options, or deletes it. She shows you the change and asks before she saves it or deletes the auto-reply.

### In your dashboard, with Fai

Change the ticket link auto-reply for \<EVENT NAME\> so it also answers the word TIX

## Questions you might have

How long do I have to message a fan who commented?: Instagram and Facebook allow one private message per comment, for 7 days after the comment. An auto-reply answers straight away, and its message is that comment's one private message, so Private message in Comments is no longer offered for it.

How long does an auto-reply have to answer a direct message?: Instagram and Facebook let your account message a fan within 24 hours of the fan's last message. An auto-reply answers as soon as the message arrives, well inside that time.

Why didn't a fan get the ticket link?: Open the auto-reply's **Results** and open the fan to see what happened. The usual reasons are a comment on a post the auto-reply doesn't watch, a fan it already answered once, or the daily limit.

I published the post in the Instagram app. Why doesn't the auto-reply answer comments on it?: The posts about your event are the posts you publish from Ticket Fairy with the event chosen. For a post published in the Instagram or Facebook app, choose **All posts** or **Selected posts** under Which posts should we watch?.

Where do the tickets and revenue come from?: They count the paid orders placed through the link the auto-reply sent, for its event. Only that event's tickets count, after refunds, as on the event's Sales report: booking fees and tickets for other events in the same order are left out. New orders are added once a day, early in the morning UTC, and a refund comes off the next time you open the page. If the event is canceled, refunded tickets still count, as on the Sales report, and only their revenue comes off.

What happens when the event sells out?: The ticket link auto-reply sends the sold-out message instead, or the waiting list when the event has one. If tickets come back on sale, it sends the ticket link again.

Can two events use the same keyword on one account?: Yes, when each auto-reply watches the posts about its own event: a comment is answered by the auto-reply for the event of the post it is on. A direct message with a shared keyword is answered by the auto-reply for the event the account is set up for, or else the event that comes soonest.

What happens when we post an update about the event?: While the update pauses the event's promotional posts, the ticket link, presale and guest list auto-replies send the fan your update instead of a link. They answer as usual again once you resume the posts.
