Understanding your event reports
Track which promotion sells your tickets
Promoters advertising an event in several places at once, from a newsletter to a partner's page to a printed flyer, need to know which placement sold the tickets. Each placement gets its own tracking link, and clicks, orders and revenue sit side by side before you spend again.
Give each advert, post, email or partner a separate tracking link so your event report shows the clicks, orders and ticket revenue each link brings in.
- For
- Promoting an event in more than one place at once
- Takes
- 6 minutes
Before you start
- You are an owner or an admin on this event. If Tracking Links is missing from your event menu, ask an owner or an admin to change your role.
- If Tracking Links is greyed out, ask Ticket Fairy Support to verify your brand.
-
Make a link for each place you promote
Open your event, go to Tracking Links under Marketing, and select Create Tracking Link.
Note: A Promoter (optional) field appears when an event team member has the promoter role. Picking one makes this a promoter link: the sales through it are counted for that person in Sales by Promoter rather than your referrals, so leave it empty for a post of your own.
Marketing, Tracking Links, Create Tracking Link. -
Name the link after its channel
Enter the channel and the date in Name, so the table remains clear in a month, and select Create. The new link appears at the top of the table with a short address of its own.
-
Put each link where its audience will find it
Copy the address under the link's name, or select Download QR to save the same link as a QR code for a poster or a flyer. One link per channel keeps counting clicks and orders for as long as it stays active.
-
Compare what each link brought in
Select a column heading to sort the table, which opens with the busiest link first, or Copy table to put the whole thing on your clipboard. Number of Clicks shows how many visits the link sent, Orders the orders that followed, and Revenue what those orders are worth to you.
Note: Revenue is your share, after our fees come out, not what the buyer paid. Orders counts an order from the moment it is placed, so one awaiting a bank transfer appears beside a paid order, and a refunded order stays in the count while the refund reduces Revenue.

Try these steps on your own event
Create a free account, build your event and follow the steps above in your own dashboard. It takes a few minutes and you do not need to book a sales call.
No setup fees. No required monthly ticketing fee. No credit card required.
Delete a tracking link you no longer use
Select Delete on the link's row, check the confirmation, then delete it.
Note: The link's clicks and orders leave this report, but the orders do not change. A deleted link opens the general events page, so keep links used on printed material active.
Delete a tracking link in the dashboard. Fai, MCP and the CLI do not manage tracking links.
Questions you might have
- How is a tracking link different from a referral link or a promoter link?
- The owner is the difference. A referral link belongs to a buyer and rewards sales, while a promoter link belongs to a team member and counts their sales. A tracking link measures one campaign placement and does not earn a buyer reward.
- Why is a link's click count higher than the people I know clicked it?
- One visitor counts once per link, and the count resets when they open a different link for the same event. A visitor who opens your Instagram link, then your newsletter link, then the Instagram one again adds two clicks to Instagram. The reset lasts 30 days, or until they clear their browser.
- Why do the orders on a link not add up to the sales on my event?
- A link's order total increases only when the buyer opens that link and completes the purchase in the same browser. If they open the link on a phone and buy on a laptop, the sale still counts towards your event but not towards that tracking link. The same applies to sales made without a tracking link.
- Do these links show up as referrals on my Traffic tab?
- No. The Traffic report counts a tracking link with no promoter as a Direct Visit, because it does not belong to a buyer or promoter. Referral Visits counts arrivals on a buyer's referral link or a promoter's link.
- Can I rename a link after I have shared it?
- Not on this page. Create a new link with the name you want and use it for future promotions. Keep the first link active so its earlier results remain in the report.
- Why does a link I made somewhere else not show here?
- This table includes only tracking and promoter links created here. A buyer's referral link appears on Influencers and a team member's link on Sales by Promoter. You can find a short link or a collective link where you made it.
- What do the Linked Promoter and Redirect URL columns mean?
- Each appears only when a link on your event has one. Linked Promoter is the team member the sales through that link are counted as, and Redirect URL is a destination other than your event page, which you can set when you make a link outside this page.
