Refunds, resale and transfers
Refund a ticket
Many events let you refund a ticket yourself. You refund one ticket at a time from your order page, and the money goes back to the card you paid with.
Before you start
- You are logged in to the Ticket Fairy account that bought the order.
-
Select Refund ticket
Open your order and select Refund ticket under the ticket you want to refund. If it is not there, select the ☰ button beside the ticket and find it in the list.
Note: When the ticket is for sale, take it off sale first. The page tells you to.
-
Confirm the refund
The dialog says whether you get a full or a partial refund, and the amount where the organiser has set one. Where the organiser offers more than one choice, select the one you want. Then confirm.
Warning: You cannot undo a refund, and you cannot claim more money for the same ticket later.
-
Check your email
We email you when the refund is processed. The email says how long your bank usually takes to show it, which is up to 10 working days.
Questions you might have
- Why is there no Refund ticket button?
- The organiser has not turned on refunds for this event or this ticket type. A ticket that was free, given to you, already checked in, sold or refunded cannot be refunded either. Contact our support team if you think you should be able to.
- Can I still use the ticket after I refund it?
- No. A refunded ticket is cancelled, and its place goes back on sale or to the waiting list.
- Do I get the booking fee back?
- It depends on the event. On a full refund you get back what you paid. Otherwise the refund is usually the ticket price without the booking fee, and the refund email confirms the amount.
- Can I refund my whole order at once?
- Refund each ticket in turn. On an unfinished payment plan, Refund Order at the top of the order page refunds everything, and cancellation fees apply.
- I booked free tickets. How do I cancel?
- Where the organiser allows it, select Cancel ticket in the ticket's menu, or Cancel Order at the top of the order page. This frees your place for someone else.
- I paid in instalments. Where does the money go?
- Back to the card each payment came from.
