# Sell a ticket you cannot use

If you cannot go, you can sell your ticket safely through Ticket Fairy, to anyone or to a friend. You keep the ticket until somebody buys it, then we refund you.

- [Select Sell ticket](#step-1)
- [Choose who can buy it](#step-2)
- [Wait for the email that it sold](#step-3)

## Before you start

- You are logged in to the Ticket Fairy account that bought the order.

1. ## Select Sell ticket

Open your order and select **Sell ticket** under the ticket. To sell every ticket in the order, select **Sell Order** at the top of the order page instead.

**Note:** There is no **Sell ticket** when the organiser has not turned on resale, or for a ticket that was free, given to you or bought on an unfinished payment plan.
2. ## Choose who can buy it

Choose **Anyone who wants to buy it**, or **Someone I know** and enter their name and email address. Check the **Expected refund** in the Summary section, then select the box to agree and select **Sell ticket**.

**Note:** The resale fee in the Summary section is only charged if the ticket sells.

3. ## Wait for the email that it sold

Your ticket shows as for sale and is still yours. When someone buys it, we cancel your ticket, email you, and refund the card you paid with. The email says when to expect the money.

**Warning:** After the ticket sells, it no longer gets you in.

## Questions you might have

How much do I get back?: Usually the ticket's face value, less the resale fee where the event charges one. Booking fees are not refunded. The **Expected refund** on the sell page shows your amount.

Can I still go if my ticket does not sell?: Yes. Your ticket stays valid until somebody buys it.

How do I take my ticket off sale?: Select **Remove from sale** under the ticket or in the ☰ list beside it, or select **Withdraw from Sale** at the top of the order page. You cannot do this after someone has bought it.

Can I set my own price?: No. Buyers pay the event's own ticket price, so nobody pays more than the event charges.

I got an email asking me to pay the resale fee. Why?: We could not charge the card you saved for the fee. Select **Pay resale fee** in the email or on your order page, and we send your refund once it is paid.

Can I sell my ticket somewhere else?: Selling through Ticket Fairy is the only way to change who owns a ticket. A ticket bought elsewhere could already have been used or cancelled.
