His music doesn’t just sit in your liked playlist on Spotify or Youtube; it truly resonates with you. The magisterial rise of the British producer has been a journey into the melancholic world of Hip-Hop and Jazz-influenced music that propagates with his electronic excursions in Downtempo, Chillwave, Electronica and so many more. Bonobo initially performed his DJ sets as **Barakas** before donning the Bonobo moniker in 1999, through the release of “Terrapin” on indie record label Tru Thoughts. Soon after, he released his debut album “Animal Magic”; his first full release on the label. After the release of his album, he quickly became known as one of the pioneers of downtempo. His ever-increasing stake caught the attention of legendary label Ninja Tune and they were quick to sign him up in 2003. 18 years since Bonobo signed exclusively with Ninja Tune, the London-based label has released 7 critically acclaimed albums which received 3 Grammy nominations with over two million people supporting the celebratory tour of his 2017 magnum opus, ‘Migration’. \[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=videoseries?list=PLXEYOK9pTABBAZLO8jBEDpGzW4KdDJJ2R\] Other than playing solo DJ sets, Bonobo also has a live ensemble, that orchestrates live versions of studio material, with a singer, keyboardist, guitarist, saxophonist, string section, electronics, and a drummer. This live crew has been the backbone of his ‘Migration’ and ‘North Borders’ tours, and together they have now travelled 300,000 plus miles, more than 250 shows in over 40 countries across 4 continents. After releasing the jittery and melodic breakbeat number with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs in 2020 and Brighton Tapes in May 2021, which were the producer’s only outputs for the best part of 20 months, Bonobo has now announced his 9th studio album – ‘Fragments’. \[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KDkNHL99IE\] The album featuring Jamila Woods, Joji, Kadhja Bonet, Jordan Rakei, O’Flynn and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson is suggested by Bonobo as the “most emotionally intense record” he has ever made.
