## Who pays the booking fee, us or the fan?

The fan pays it, unless you choose otherwise. With Added, the default, the fan pays the booking fee on top and you receive the full ticket price. Absorbed suits you when the price on your poster has to be the price at checkout, and the fee comes out of what you receive.

On your event, you select Tickets and choose a card under Booking Fees on the Inventory tab, or choose while you create the event. The choice comes before your first ticket type, because you cannot switch between Added and Absorbed once ticket types exist. A third choice, Added Later, shows the ticket price on your event page and the fee at checkout, in countries other than Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The booking fee depends on the ticket price and your event's country, and your Ticket Types table shows the exact amount for every price you enter. Free tickets carry no fee, and there is no setup fee and no required monthly ticketing fee.

[Choose who pays the booking fee on your show](https://www.ticketfairy.com/guides/set-who-pays-the-fees)

## When do we get our ticket money?

You get paid daily as tickets sell, once your own payment processing account is linked and active. If you choose to be paid out after your event instead, Ticket Fairy processes the payments and pays you 10 to 15 business days after the show finishes.

Daily payouts need a payment processing account of a kind and in a country where we support them, and your publish review shows which applies to your event. Any other account you link pays out on its own schedule. With your account linked before your on-sale, you are paid as tickets sell, which helps when the act's deposit is due before the show.

When you are paid after the show, the money goes to the account under Payout Details on your brand. It is worth checking before the show ends, because a payout already sent to an old account has to be recalled. A postponed show is paid after it takes place, and pending refund requests or chargebacks extend the wait.

[Check the payout for your show](https://www.ticketfairy.com/guides/check-your-payout)

## Does resale let fans charge more than face value?

No. Nobody sets their own price. The new buyer pays the ticket type's current price. The seller gets back what they paid, less a resale fee of 10% of the ticket price. You can keep any ticket type out of resale or turn resale off for the event.

A fan who cannot come opens their order and chooses Sell Ticket. The ticket is offered to the next fan on your waiting list for that ticket type, or to a friend the seller names. The new buyer pays the ticket's current price at an ordinary checkout and gets a ticket in their own name, and the old code stops working at your door.

The resale fee is 10% of the price the seller paid, not counting the booking fee, and it is charged separately to the seller's original card. Events in India carry no resale fee. To turn resale off, you open Anti-Scalping/Fraud Settings in your ticket settings and switch off Ticket resale.

## How long does a fan on the waiting list have to buy?

A fan has thirty-six hours when the show is more than two weeks away. The time gets shorter as the show gets closer, down to eight hours on the last day. If the fan does not buy in time, the offer passes to the next fan in line.

The window is eighteen hours when the show is one to two weeks away, fourteen hours inside a week and twelve hours inside two days. Each offer goes by email with a link to buy at the ticket's current price. If you want one fixed window for your event instead, we can set it for you.

You turn the list on under Tickets, then Settings, with Enable waiting list after ticket sell-out. On Performance, Waiting List shows each fan, the quantity they asked for and whether they are waiting, have been offered a ticket or have bought. When you add a date or a release, you can email Waiting list members from Messaging.

[Run a waiting list for a sold-out show](https://www.ticketfairy.com/guides/run-a-waiting-list)

## How many tickets can one fan buy for my show?

You choose, from 1 to 20 per account for each ticket type. A buyer with no customer account yet can buy up to the per-order limit in a first order, so set a per-order limit as well.

On your event, you select Tickets, then Settings, and set the Maximum number of tickets per order and the Maximum ticket quantity per account. The per-account cap holds across every order one customer places, so a tout needs a new account and a new card for every few tickets.

On the shows under most pressure, Ticket Fairy support can switch on the identity check for the event or for the ticket types that sell out in minutes. Buyers finish checkout as normal, and their card is held rather than charged until they pass.

[Keep touts and bots off your show](https://www.ticketfairy.com/guides/keep-touts-off-your-tickets)

## Can I sell numbered seats and standing on the same show?

Yes. The seated areas of your venue go on your seat map, and the floor sells as its own ticket type. Or you can create a ticket category for each area of the room without a map. Ticket Fairy's team builds the seat map with you from your venue's layout.

On a seat map, buyers pick their exact seat, with numbered seats, price zones and accessible seats. The floor beside it sells as a standing ticket type, and both sell in the same checkout. Each ticket shows its seat in the order, and you can give a ticket holder a different seat later without a new order.

A room without numbered seats can sell a place in each area of the house instead, with no map to draw. You can create a ticket category for each area, such as Floor, Stalls and Balcony, with a ticket type for each price inside it.

## Can the act's team check the settlement?

Yes. You can share the settlement with the artist's team, and every line shows how its figure was worked out. Once you share it, its lines are locked. To change anything, you reopen it as a new version, and the shared version is kept.

Fai drafts the settlement from the show's ticket sales after refunds, the actual costs in the event's budget and the fee from the accepted offer. Each line says where its figure came from, and each amount stays in its own currency.

When the figures are ready, Share and then Print or save as PDF give you a copy for the tour manager or agent. You select Mark as agreed when both sides accept it, and Mark as paid once the act has their money. Marking it paid records the payment and moves no money.

To correct a wrong line, reverse it. A new line cancels it and both stay on the sheet. To change a shared settlement, reopen it with your reason, and the version you shared stays exactly as it was, marked Replaced.

## Does the tour manager need a Ticket Fairy login?

No. The advance link opens without a sign-in and shows only the sections you chose. You can stop a link or send a new one at any time.

The tour manager gets a link to the act's advance. It opens on any phone or computer and shows only the sections you chose, such as travel, hotel, schedule, technical needs, hospitality and the guest list, with what is still needed at the top. You choose how long the link works, from 7 to 90 days.

When they save an answer, that section shows as received on your advance, and you confirm it or send it back for changes. Fai fills in empty answers from the contract, the rider and the tour book, and never replaces an answer a person gave.

[Advance your performers before the show](https://www.ticketfairy.com/guides/advance-your-performers-before-the-show)

## Can a promoter who hires my venue run their own night?

Yes. With the Administrator role on that event's team, they set up the tickets, guest list and publishing themselves. A promoter who sells a night your team builds gets the Promoter role with their own link.

You add the promoter on the event's own Team page rather than on your brand's Team page, so they work on that night only. The Administrator role suits a promoter who builds the night themselves. The Promoter role suits a promoter who sells a night your team builds, and the sales through their link count as theirs.

Your permanent team stays on the brand team, so your booker, box office and door staff keep their access across every show, including the nights a hiring promoter builds. A co-promoter who only wants to follow sales opens a sales report link for the ticket types they have a stake in.

## Does the scanning app need a signal?

Yes. The Entry Fairy app needs an internet connection to scan tickets, so check the connection at each door before you open.

The app is best installed on each phone the day before, while every phone has a good connection. One guest ticket sent to yourself and scanned on every phone before the doors open confirms each phone is ready. The first phone admits it, and every other phone shows it as already checked in, with the time and who scanned it.

A phone that shows neither result is not signed in or has no connection. If a phone stops working on the night, you can open the ticket inside its order and set it to checked in by hand.

## Can I make offers to agents and advance the band here too?

Yes. You make offers to agents, advance each act and plan the run of show in the same dashboard as your ticketing, resale and the door, as part of the Event Operating System. You can book a demo, and we set up your first show with your team.

Event Operations on your brand opens on a calendar with your shows, every hold and each open offer. You can make the agent an offer with what you paid the act last time and the guarantee range Fai suggests beside it. When the agent accepts, the act is booked onto your show with the agreed fee.

You find every act's advance and the run of show on the show itself, with doors, soundchecks, sets, changeovers and curfew. On the night, a backstage screen shows the act on now, the act on next and how late the stage is running.

[Run offers, holds and settlements for your venue](https://www.ticketfairy.com/event-operating-system/venue-operations)

## Which music venues and concerts use Ticket Fairy?

Venues of every size sell tickets here, from small acoustic rooms and jazz clubs to amphitheatres, and promoters sell outdoor concerts too. Whether you promote shows or are the venue owner, you get ticket sales, offers, advancing and the door in one dashboard.

Each show starts from the Concert template. It builds General admission and Advance tickets and an Event merchandise add-on, and turns on door and last-entry times. With Add a VIP ticket on, the template prices the VIP package above general admission and sizes the limited releases from your capacity.

A seated hall sells from a seat map or by area, and a standing room sells releases that open one after another. A venue that runs a regular program keeps its whole team on the brand, so each new show starts with the people it needs.

## What happens to our social posts if a show is postponed?

You pause them in one step. When you select Post an update for the show on Social Home, every scheduled promotional post for it pauses, an update post is drafted for each network you post on, with no ticket link, and fans who comment for tickets get your update. When the new date is set, you resume the paused posts in one step. Owners and admins of the brand can post and resume an update.

On your brand, you select Social, then Home, and select Post an update beside the show. You enter what happened in your own words, and what fans should do. You choose the steps you want, read the summary and select Confirm. Nothing reaches your fans until a team member approves each update post.

While the posts are paused, an auto-reply that would send the ticket link sends fans your update instead. Post an update changes what you post on social only, so you postpone or cancel the show on the event itself and email your ticket holders from Messaging.

[Run your show's social posts and replies](https://www.ticketfairy.com/features/social-media)

## Can concert promoters use it as well as venues?

Yes. A promoter sells shows in the rooms they hire, and a music venue sells its own program, both from the same account. A venue can also give a visiting promoter a role on that show, so they run it themselves.

A promoter runs a brand of their own and sells each show in the room they hire. A venue runs its brand with every show in its program. One account can hold several brands, and you switch between them in your dashboard.

When a venue hosts a promoter's night, the venue adds the promoter to that one show's team with the Administrator or Promoter role, and the promoter never sees the venue's other events.

## How do I know if a show is selling well enough to add a second date?

You can compare this show with your last one at the same number of days out, and by the second week you know whether to add a date or put more into ads. Your Performance page shows tickets sold, net revenue and box office sales for each show while you watch, and tracking links show the clicks, orders and revenue each post or partner site brought in. On the night, Box Office Sales splits door sales by seller, with cash and card apart, and you follow arrivals by hour.

Compared with last time puts this show's sales beside your earlier show at the same number of days before each one starts, with tickets sold, the share of capacity sold and last time's total. The Waiting List report shows how many fans you could not serve, which helps when you decide on a second date.

Each tracking link shows clicks, orders and revenue, and revenue is your share after Ticket Fairy's fees. A co-promoter or the act's management can have a sales report link covering only the ticket types they have a stake in. They sign in with their own Ticket Fairy dashboard login and need no role on your show.

[Compare this show with your last one](https://www.ticketfairy.com/guides/compare-your-ticket-sales-with-your-last-event)

## How do walk-ups pay at the door?

They pay in cash on any phone that runs the scanning app, or by tapping a card, phone or watch on a compatible Android phone. Taps work when your payment processing account is in a country where tap to pay works, your event's venue is in that same country, and your business address or the venue's address is complete.

Walk-ups buy from the same ticket types as your event page, so you never sell the same ticket twice. A second door, a roaming seller and your box office can all sell at the same time. If a phone does not offer card taps, the app names the reason. Once you fix what it names and save, the option appears within a minute.

Box Office Sales shows each sale by seller or by date, with cash and card apart, so you can settle up with each seller on the night. Card payments at the door go through the same payment processing account as your online sales.

[Sell to walk-ups and scan at the door](https://www.ticketfairy.com/features/check-in-and-box-office)

## Will checkout hold up when a big show goes on sale?

Yes. When arrivals climb, a waiting room in front of checkout shows each fan their place in the queue and lets them in turn, so checkout stays reliable. Refreshing the page does not move a fan up or down, and the fans already in checkout finish buying as normal.

Fans also see roughly how long they have to wait. Your announcement can tell fans that there is a queue and that it shows their place.

You can split your tickets into releases with their own allocations and times, and run a presale for your list first, so part of the crowd buys before the public on-sale. With Publish, then Schedule Publish, the event page goes public on the minute your announcement names.

[Keep a high-demand on-sale running smoothly](https://www.ticketfairy.com/guides/keep-a-high-demand-on-sale-running-smoothly)

## Can I hold tickets back for the label, a sponsor or a radio competition?

Yes. You turn on Hold tickets on the ticket type, enter who the tickets are for and how many, and save. Those tickets stay out of the public on-sale, and they do not count as sales.

On your event, you select Tickets and open the ticket type the reserve should come out of. You turn on Hold tickets, enter the name in Hold for, such as the label or the radio station, and the number in Quantity of tickets, then select Save. Buyers see fewer left from the moment you save.

The name and the number are fixed once you save, so remove the reserve and add a new one to change it. When you remove a reserve, every ticket your partner did not take goes back on sale to the public.

[Hold back tickets for your partners](https://www.ticketfairy.com/guides/hold-back-ticket-stock)

## Can the act's fan club buy before the public on-sale?

Yes. You can take pre-registrations, then open a presale window with its own allocation. A registered fan can buy in that window before the public release opens, and your fans see the time and the time zone it opens.

You turn on Pre-Registration for the show and enter when registration opens and closes. You then turn presales on and set both ends of the presale window. Pre-registration is a list you can view and message, so message the fans who registered and did not buy when the public on-sale opens.

With its own release, the presale gives the fan club the tier you promised and keeps the public on-sale worth announcing. Treat any shared code as public. You can keep the public release hidden, and turn off other presale paths if registration should be the only way in.

[Give fan club members presale access](https://www.ticketfairy.com/guides/give-fan-club-members-presale-access)

## What happens to fans' tickets if we postpone or cancel a show?

If you postpone, fans keep their tickets for the new date and you choose who can ask for a refund. If you cancel, Ticket Fairy refunds the event within one to two days, apart from any order it cannot refund.

Postpone from Event Details whenever a later date is possible, because a postponed show can still be canceled later and a canceled one is hard to bring back. You can keep the new date hidden while you confirm it with the act. Ticket Fairy emails every ticket holder when you confirm the postponement.

When you cancel, each fan gets an email as their own refund goes through, and that email says only that the show is canceled. Your own message can go out the same day, and your event page can tell anyone who reaches it what happened.

[Change the date or call off a show](https://www.ticketfairy.com/guides/change-or-call-off-an-event)

## Can I sell tickets on the act's website or our venue's website?

Yes. You copy the checkout snippet from your event's Embed page and paste it into the page on your website. Fans choose tickets, pay and get their confirmation without leaving the site, and every sale shows in your dashboard.

New buyers check out without creating an account, and a WordPress site can use the plugin instead. To offer wallet payments in the embedded checkout, you add your exact website address and your web developer serves the verification file.

When a purchase needs options the embedded checkout cannot show, fans see the full event page instead, so they still get every option you offer. If you have no website yet, the website builder makes one in your brand's colors, fonts and logo.
