Sell Out Every Performance of Your Run

A run of performances sells seat by seat and night by night: the best seats go first, the matinee needs a nudge, press night needs its guests in the right rows and the latecomer needs a seat at the interval. Price every part of the house, sell every performance of the run from one seat map and one page, and keep the house seats back for the people you invite. Sell the programme and interval drinks with the ticket, let your comedians and cast sell to their own crowd, and give front of house the answers on their phones.

  • Your whole run on sale from one setup
  • The best seats kept for the people you invite
  • Programmes and drinks sold with the ticket

Price Every Part of the House on Its Own

Start from the Theatre show template and choose how you sell: one seat price, stalls, circle and balcony, or premium stalls on top. Say yes to concessions and an opening night, and you get a concession ticket and a reception add-on beside a programme add-on and door times. With a seat map, each part of the house is a seat category with its own price, so your best seats sell at what they are worth and the restricted-view seats still sell. Buyers tap the seats they want, and each seat is held for them while they pay.

Link more than one price to the same seats, such as a full price and a concession, and buyers choose the one that applies to them. Put tables on the same map for a cabaret layout, and a group picks the table they want. Each part of the house can also be a ticket category with its own releases, so buyers choose where they sit first and the price second.

Choose the seat map when buyers care which seat they sit in and the house has numbered seats. Choose areas without a map when the room fills first come, first served, such as a studio theatre, a comedy club or a fringe room, and be on sale the same afternoon. You can add a seat map to the event later.

  • Theatre show template: stalls, circle and balcony with door times
  • Seat maps: a price for each part of the house
  • Ticket categories: one for each area, with its releases
  • Concessions: a second price for the same seats

Put Your Whole Run on Sale From One Page

Add each performance of the run to your seat map, and buyers choose their date from the seat map calendar before they choose their seats. Each performance sells on its own, so a sold-out Saturday never blocks a quiet Tuesday, and every night has its own comps, arrivals and report. Create an event series for the show with a public page, and buyers pick their date from one address you print on the poster. Sell a season ticket that covers several productions, and holders book each one as it goes on sale.

Add a main seat map when you sell subscriptions that cover the whole run, and one seat is held for that subscriber every night. Take a single performance off sale without touching the rest. For a run sold as separate events, duplicate the first performance for every date and time with its tickets, categories, add-ons and settings, and change the price on the matinee or a preview.

Choose when a season ticket expires: at the end of the season, a number of months after each buyer pays, or never. Let it book the cheapest ticket on public sale, or pick the ticket it books at each production yourself, so a premiere is never given away at the price of an ordinary night. Ask Fai to build the season ticket and tell you how many holders have booked each show.

  • Performances on one seat map: a date and time for each, chosen before the seat
  • Subscriber seats: the same seat held for every performance
  • Duplicate a performance: tickets, add-ons and settings carried across
  • Season tickets: one purchase for the productions each buyer chooses

Keep the Best Seats for the People You Invite

Block the house seats, the sound desk position and a row for the director's guests, and release them when you are ready to sell. Group your best seats into channels, such as Sponsors, Press and Friends of the theatre, and send each guest an invitation to book from the seats you kept for them. Send press and reviewers a ticket for the performance they are reviewing, seated where you choose on the map, so comps never land in seats you were selling. Give cast and crew one pass that scans at every performance of the run.

The Recipients table lists every invitation with its seat and whether it has been booked, so you resend the two nobody opened before press night, or withdraw one to put the seat back on sale. Each guest ticket has its own barcode, and the guest list shows who has used theirs.

Ask Fai to block the front two rows for press night or to release them on the day. She shows you the seats first and changes nothing until you approve.

  • Seat blocking: house seats kept off sale until you release them
  • Invitation channels: sponsors and press book the seats you kept
  • Seated guest tickets: comps placed where you choose
  • Cast and crew passes: one pass for every performance

Sell Programmes, Interval Drinks and Gift Vouchers

Sell the programme and interval drinks as add-ons in the same basket as the ticket, each with its own price and stock, and offer them only with the tickets they belong to. A two-drink minimum at a comedy night is a drink-token add-on on the tickets it applies to, paid for with the ticket. Buyers come back to their order before the night and add the extras they decided on later. Give schools and parties a group discount that applies once their basket reaches the size you set, and sell gift certificates for a ticket or a set amount.

At the bar, your team scans the add-on's own code, so the buyer's ticket stays ready for entry. An add-on can also be an upgrade, such as a backstage tour or a meet-the-cast session, offered only to the tickets it upgrades.

Gift certificates suit the festive season and birthdays, and a group discount suits school trips and coach parties that book in one basket. A school or company that books a block and pays on its own terms gets one invoice with a payment link, with sign-off from the approvers you name before it goes out. Ask Fai to add the programme at your price, and she shows you the add-on before she creates it.

  • Programmes and drinks: add-ons sold with the ticket
  • Extras after purchase: added from the buyer's own order
  • Group discounts: a saving once the basket reaches your number
  • Gift certificates: a ticket or a set amount to give

Book Your Comedians and Let Every Act Sell to Their Crowd

Open an application form for acts who want to play your new material nights or your festival, and your reviewers score each one from a link while Fai notes what stands out. Accept an act and they join your event's line-up, ready for a set time. Send each comedian or company member a promoter link when you publish, and Sales by Promoter shows which act brought their own crowd, while each act sees only their own sales. Fai drafts the running order from your set times, and the show caller calls each cue on the night.

A touring company gets an advance sheet for travel, hotel, technical needs and hospitality, filled in by their company manager from a link with no sign-in. Each department gets a day sheet on their phones, and Fai gives each act a dressing room around their set and flags overlaps.

Tracking links show which listing, newsletter and partner site sold your tickets, so you spend your marketing where it works. When you hire a room for a run, the venue can give you your own night with an Administrator seat, and the run stays yours from the first performance to the last.

  • Applications to play: scored by your reviewers, with Fai's notes
  • Promoter links for acts: each act's sales, seen by them and by you
  • Running order: drafted by Fai and called on the night

Give Front of House Every Answer on the Night

Give each ticket type its own doors-open and last-entry time, such as a stricter last entry for the stalls, and the scanning app turns a late ticket away with the reason on the phone, so front of house can seat the holder at the interval. Show the answers to your checkout questions, such as an access request, as each ticket scans. Move a buyer to another seat or part of the house from their order, and release their old seat back on sale. Your door team sells to walk-ups from the same app, with cash or a tap of a card or phone.

A returned ticket goes to the waiting list for the same part of the house, so nobody is offered a seat in the wrong area. Keep a note on a regular's record, such as the aisle seat they need, and your box office sees it next time they call. Watch arrivals hour by hour as the house fills, and know when to hold the curtain.

Box Office Sales shows every door sale by seller, with cash and card apart, for the end of the night. Ask Fai whether a named guest has arrived, from your phone in the foyer.

  • Last-entry times: set for each ticket type
  • Change seat: a new seat on the order the buyer already has
  • Door sales: cash or tap to pay from the scanning app
  • Waiting list by area: returns offered to the next buyer for that area

How Theatres and Comedy Promoters Use Ticket Fairy

  • A Four-Week Theatre Run

A producer adds every performance to the seat map and a main seat map for subscribers. Subscribers keep the same seat every night, and the public picks a date from the seat map calendar, then a seat.

  • A Press Night

The theatre puts two rows in a Press channel and sends each critic an invitation. Critics book from their own rows, and the theatre resends the two invitations nobody opened before curtain up.

  • A Comedy Club With a Two-Drink Minimum

The club sells by area without a map and adds a drink-token add-on to every ticket. Each headliner sells through their own promoter link, and the club sees which acts bring their own crowd when it books the next season.

  • A Repertory Season

A theatre sells a season ticket for five productions before the last two are announced. Holders book each play as it goes on sale, and the premiere books at the ticket the theatre picked for it.

  • A Comedy Festival

A festival opens applications for its new-act showcase. Reviewers score every act from a link, the accepted acts join the line-up with their set times, and each one gets a link to sell their own show.

Questions About Ticket Fairy for Theatre & comedy

Theatre & comedy

Ticket Fairy builds the seat map with you from your venue's layout and makes it available for your venue. You attach it to each show, link your ticket types and manage the seats yourself, and the next show at the same venue uses the same map.

It is held for that buyer, so another buyer cannot take it. If the buyer leaves or their checkout time runs out, the seat goes back on the map for the next buyer.

Yes. Take it as a group booking and send one invoice with the due date the school's terms give. The tickets are held from the moment the invoice is sent until it is paid, and the school pays through the invoice's payment link.

Only before ticket sales start. Once tickets have sold, the seat map stays on the event so every buyer keeps their seat.

No. A seated ticket from the Theatre show template sells a place in a part of the house. Numbered seats need a seat map.

The scanning app turns the ticket away and shows why, so front of house can seat the holder at the interval and check them in by hand from their order.

Yes. Invite them to the performance as a promoter and send them their link. Sales by Promoter shows you every act's sales, and each promoter sees only their own.

No. A pass made on your brand scans at every event the brand runs, so one pass covers the whole run. Uses are counted for each performance, so set the number of uses high enough for a holder who leaves and comes back during a show.

Compatible Android phones, in the country of the payment processing account the event uses. The option appears once the event has a venue and your business address or the venue's address is complete. Cash sales work on any phone that runs the scanning app.
