Run a safety induction for everyone who works your event
Site managers and health and safety leads have to show that everyone working on site knows the fire exits, the radio channels and what to do in an emergency. One induction for every pass holder, done from their own page or at the desk, gives you a record of who has done it before anyone starts work.
Put the safety briefing your crew, volunteers and suppliers must read before they work your event in one place, let Fai draft a short test from it, and have the hand-out desk check that each person has done it before they collect their pass. You see who has done it and mark it done for anyone you briefed in person.

- You are an owner, admin or producer on the event. The event's Operations page opens for those roles only.
- Your safety briefing is ready to paste in, or is online as a video or a document.

Open the safety induction
Open the event, select Operations, select Licences and certificates, then select People.
Obs: Safety induction is under the documents, with who needs it, how many have done it and the short test.

Set up the induction
Select Set up the induction.
Obs: Once it is set up, the button says Change instead.

Enter what people read
Enter the briefing in What people read, or a web address in Video or document link (optional).
Obs: Cover the points everyone must know: exits, radios and what to do in an emergency. A link starts with https://.

Choose who needs it
Choose who needs it in Who needs it.

Choose whether the desk checks it
Leave Check it at the hand-out desk before a pass is handed over on, or turn it off.
Obs: While it is on, the desk shows Induction not done for anyone who has not done it, before their pass goes.

Save the induction
Select Save.
Obs: People then see it on their My shifts page, and volunteers on their own page, with a button to open it.

Let Fai draft a short test
Optional: Select Ask Fai to draft a test.
Obs: Fai drafts questions from your briefing as a Draft. Nobody sees them until you make the test live.

Check the questions
Select Change the questions, change any question or answer, then select Save.
Obs: A test has 1 to 10 questions, each with 2 to 5 answers and one right answer. Select the right answer beside each question.

Make the test live
Select Make it live, then select Make it live again.
Obs: People then finish the induction by scoring the Pass mark for the test (%) or more, 80 unless you change it. Anyone who failed sees their score and can try again, up to 10 times a day.
The induction on their page
Each person opens the induction from their My shifts page. Without a live test they tick I have read it; with a live test they answer the questions and select Send my answers. Once the test is live, only passing it or being marked done by the team finishes the induction.

Record an induction done at the desk
At the hand-out desk, select Induction done here on the person's card, then select Yes, it's done.
Obs: Record it when you went through the safety briefing with them. Their record shows who marked it and when, and they can then collect their pass.

Check who has done it
In Safety induction, choose Not done, Done or Everyone.
Obs: Select Mark as done beside anyone you briefed in person.

Select Take it down, then confirm.
Obs: The test goes back to a draft that you can change, and people confirm they read the induction instead. Select Remove the test to delete the draft questions.

- What do volunteers see before the event has an induction?
- Their volunteer programme's own induction, as before. Once you set up the event's safety induction, it is the one they do.
- Can someone collect their pass without the induction?
- The hand-out desk shows Induction not done with a way to fix it. A team member can record the induction at the desk, or hand the pass over anyway with a reason.
- Do people who read the induction before the test went live have to take it?
- Yes. Once the test is live, ticking that they read the induction no longer finishes it, so they answer the test on their page. Anyone who passed the test or was marked done by the team stays done.
- Is Fai's test a safety plan?
- No. It checks that people read your briefing. Check every question and answer before you make it live.
