After a long process of study and musical development, several years of releasing music with different labels, and with the support of the biggest names, Kevin is one of the steadily etching his name as one of his country’s most important names in electronic music. While leaving Mexico City with the tech house genre and playing at important festivals and parties in Mexico, festivals like Soul Tech Festival, Brandon Caballero’s bouncy style of production and DJing has made him one of the most exciting up-and-coming names to come out of his home country. Following their standout collaboration, ‘Rave Energy,’ on South Of Saturn, Lee Foss has invited Brandon Caballero & Kevin Corral to his sister label Repopulate Mars for an adrenaline-filled release called ‘Saburai.’ The irresistible and endless drive of the tune compelled us to have a chat with Brandon Caballero & Kevin Corral about their latest single and lots more. **TFword: How and when did you guys meet and decide to make music together**? **Brandon Caballero & Kevin Corral:** We met approximately seven years ago. We discovered each other because of the music we were releasing. From that moment, we began to share music, talk about releases and artists. The idea of making music together appeared immediately. **TF: Saburai marks your second release together. What are your thoughts on how the release has taken shape?** **Brandon Caballero & Kevin Corral:** We are very excited about this release. It’s an idea that we always wanted to make a different from what we have. And we always thought that Repopulate would be the best place to release it. One of our friends has an Asian food restaurant in Mexico City. The vocal sample being Asian. It fits like a glove! **TF: The vocal sample used in ‘Saburai’ gives the tune a transportive feeling. What led to you guys using the vocal sample in the tune?** **Brandon Caballero & Kevin Corral:** From the beginning, our idea was to make a track with a vocal sample of a traditional song from any country. We were looking for several days without success. Until we decided to start looking for traditional Thai songs. And as soon as we heard this vocal for the first time, we knew it was the one! **TF: First collaboration on South Of Saturn and now on Repopulate Mars. How has the experience been working with Lee Foss’ crew?** **Brandon Caballero & Kevin Corral:** Our experience has been incredible, with our first release on South of Saturn making it onto the Tech House charts and getting great feedback on the release. Thank Lee and all the crew, for believing in our music. **TF: Rave Emotions had a number of funky elements whereas Saburai is more of an intense listen. Talk us through the creative process of the tune.** **Brandon Caballero & Kevin Corral:** With Saburai, we wanted to do something totally different. A track without so many groove elements and more solid. Adding a traditional oriental vocal. **TF: How do you guys think your individual styles and sounds have evolved ever since your debut?** **Brandon Caballero & Kevin Corral:** You learn new things with every track you make. From our collaboration on South of Saturn. We have evolved to a more solid sound. With less percussion and groove elements giving way to a more serious style. **TF: What’s coming next for Brandon Caballero & Kevin Corral?** **Brandon Caballero & Kevin Corral:** We have several collaborations together.
