***We’re diving into some of 2025’s underground dubstep favorites that capture the raw and uncompromising energy of this year’s sub-heavy sound.***

We’re all aware of what happened to dubstep after its meteoric rise over a decade ago. A genre that went from dark, underground clubs to dominating main stages and charts worldwide. But just as quickly as it captured the spotlight, it seemed to vanish from the mainstream almost overnight. The distorted wobbles and thunderous drops that once defined an era were suddenly out of fashion, giving way to newer electronic trends and leaving many to assume that dubstep had had its moment.

But underneath this apparent disappearance, a crucial force never lost momentum: the underground dubstep. While the spotlight moved on, the underground never did. It kept the fires burning, even when no one was watching. For years, producers continued refining the genre’s gritty DNA, evolving its deep, percussive textures and sound system foundations. It was thankless work with minimal exposure and little to no financial return, but the commitment to the sound remained, and that very persistence has finally paid off.

The results of that labor are being felt today as the deep, moody, low-end-driven aesthetic that dubstep was originally built on is enjoying a renaissance. A prime example of this resurgence is Hamdi’s ‘Skanka.’ The track encapsulates the raw, gritty energy of underground dubstep and yet resonated so widely that it gained traction far beyond its niche origins.

What we’re witnessing now is a full-circle revival. Bass music’s wider fraternity, right from drum & bass to UK Garage, is diving into the genre’s deepest depths and fusing their own sonic identities into it. The fine line between niche and mainstream is increasingly blurred, but the sound hasn’t lost its core identity; it’s still dark, headsy and raw.

Which brings us to the music, where we’re listing a bunch of tunes that represent a well-rounded snapshot of the scene’s creative pulse. Together, they channel a shared passion for sub-driven, boundary-pushing sound design that’s fueling dubstep’s most exciting chapter in years.

## HAMDI & VISAGES – ‘LAMP’

  [Hamdi & Visages - Lamp](https://www.youtube.com/embed/VpjXeDMWPlo?feature=oembed)

A collaboration we never saw coming, but one that instantly feels essential. HAMDI and Visages are two powerhouses in their own right, each known for pushing boundaries and crafting bold, distinctive bass music. For their debut joint effort, they’ve channeled their distinctive strengths into a fiery creative fusion that burns with intensity.

The track weaves together mesmerizing atmospheric layers with Middle Eastern influences before gradually plugging its way and evolving into a tune that’s rooted in classic dubstep foundations.

## CASPA & TERNION SOUND – ‘NEVER SERIOUS’

Ternion Sound are closing out a phenomenal chapter this year, solidifying their place as one of the most forward-thinking and consistent forces in modern dubstep. For this grand finale, they’ve joined forces with one of dubstep’s most iconic figures for a collaboration that perfectly captures the essence of their boundary-pushing vision and genre-defining sound.

The title may be ‘Never Serious,’ but make no mistake: this is quality bass music that is delivered with some serious intent. It’s a full-throttle assault of expertly crafted screeches, chest-rattling wobbles, and the kind of low-end pressure that we associate with both Caspa and Ternion Sound. A fitting send-off to mark the end of an era.

## TAIKI NULIGHT X BORNE – ‘OUT OF CONTROL’

[Taiki Nulight x Borne - Out of Control](https://www.youtube.com/embed/WRNhmNHvBWo?feature=oembed)

With an almost enviable range of production repertoire, Taiki Nulight has rapidly cemented his status as one of the most interesting and forward-thinking names in dance music today. Now, putting his dubstep hat firmly back on, Taiki joins forces with Borne, a fellow trailblazer and one of the most prodigious talents in bass music, for a collaboration that feels both nostalgic and future-leaning. With its stripped-back yet heavy rolling aesthetics and deep syncopated rhythms, ‘Out Of Control’ is a proper work of art.

## FAKE TWO PIECE & FLORET LORET – ‘AIN’T NO TIME FOR HESITATION’

Portuguese dubstep extravaganza meets Floridian experimental flair in a no-holds-barred collision of bassweight, groove, and pure dancefloor energy. Portuguese duo Fake Two Piece have been on an unstoppable trajectory since last year, firing on all cylinders with standout releases across a wide spectrum of influential labels, while Floret Loret, with his emotionally rich and sonically intricate compositions, has been on his own surge.

This track embodies the essence of peak-time club ammunition, and alternately, it’s the kind of wonky, off-kilter dubstep weapon that hits like a shot of espresso on a Monday morning: sharp, jarring in the best way, and impossible to ignore.

## SHADES – ‘FLAME UNBROKEN’

Shades is the formidable alliance between Alix Perez and Eprom, a project that started in 2015 and has consistently pushed the boundaries of experimental bass music. Their output has birthed some of the most obscure, head-twisting dubstep cuts to ever grace a sound system. This partnership has consistently delivered head-twisting dubstep tunes that challenge listeners’ expectations

  [Flame Unbroken](https://www.youtube.com/embed/6-zHh9BwXOI?feature=oembed)

Their latest offering, ‘Flame Unbroken,’ is a case in point, a twisted, cerebral journey that fuses gritty swagger with dazzling elegance, and it continues their tradition of crafting well-crafted journeys with supreme dynamic.

## GLUME & PHOSSA – ‘GOLD FANG’

If you’re on the lookout for electronic music with spiritual depth anchored by the weight of a sub-bass rumble, this Bristol-based duo will turn out to be an essential destination. Quietly but consistently, they’ve been carving out a distinct space in the modern dubstep landscape, crafting some of the most remarkable and emotionally resonant tunes of recent times.

Take, for instance, ‘Gold Fang’ where the duo unfolds a sonic journey defined by a sense of lingering tension that is carefully sustained and enveloping. The magic lies in how seamlessly they integrate laid-back, Eastern-tinged melodies into this soundscape.

## SICARIA – ‘RHASSOUL’

  [Rhassoul](https://www.youtube.com/embed/A9O4BEXZfWo?feature=oembed)

London-born, Moroccan-heritage DJ/producer has been on a mission to redefine the 140 BPM soundscape, and ‘Rhassoul’ is a track that encapsulates the essence of SICARIA’s sound. Immersive, emotionally rich, and unapologetically powerful, this tune forms a part of Tectonic Sound’s 20-year anniversary compilation, which sees SICARIA deliver a stripped-back yet weighty dubstep cut designed for maximal sound-system impact.

## STANTON WARRIORS – ‘THEY FOLLOW (FEAT. STUSH, FOREIGN BEGGARS) (CHRIS MUNKY & KAMPAH REMIX)’

The original version was already a powerhouse; a high-octane fusion of energy, grit, and attitude that was built for instant impact. But the Chris Munky & Kampah remix somehow manages to up the ante, dialing in even more firepower while staying true to the raw pull and magnetic essence of the original.

What makes this remix stand out is its ability to reimagine the core energy through a slower, more immersive lens without overpowering the original, but instead creating pressure that builds and breathes within a meditative, spacious framework.

## VISAGES – STUKA JU 87

The French quartet makes their second appearance on this list, this time not for a collaboration, but for their blistering solo contribution to their debut album, ‘Amor Fati.’ We’ve already made our case for why ‘Amor Fati’ stands tall as one of the finest long-players of 2025, and if there’s one track that encapsulates its relentless energy and artistic ambition, it’s ‘Stuka Ju 87.’

  [Visages - Stuka Ju 87](https://www.youtube.com/embed/HJtfaXpR4xg?feature=oembed)

A nod to the infamous German dive bomber known for its terrifying siren wail, ‘Stuka Ju 87’s screeching, dystopian synths and punishing low-end frequencies embody the mechanical intensity and rhythmic precision of its namesake inspiration.

## CESCO, DOUVELLE19 & SYLLA – ‘FINDERS KEEPERS’

Trust Cesco to take you exactly where you want to go sonically. His productions are never confined to one genre; instead, they pull from a rich and eclectic crate of influences, spanning the full spectrum from drum & bass and dubstep to UK Garage and beyond. Over the last few years, especially, he has proved his skill in fusing these elements into something cohesive, fresh, and unmistakably his own.

  [Finders Keepers](https://www.youtube.com/embed/sV-vk-Xt3Pg?feature=oembed)

While ‘Finders Keepers’ isn’t a dubstep tune in the strictest sense, Cesco cleverly orbits the genre’s gravitational pull. The track echoes dubstep’s weight and restraint while flowing freely in the rhythmic pocket of UKG and bassline, offering a hybrid that feels both grounded and exploratory. He teams up with Sylla and Douvelle19 to elevate the vibe even further, locking into a deeper, shadowy groove to elevate the experience.
