President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s production company, Higher Ground, announced a partnership with Spotify last summer. The first installment of which, The Michelle Obama Podcast exclusively debuted on Spotify on July 29 with Dawn and Tide and Salesforce serving as the presenting sponsors.
Higher Grounds was started to produce powerful, entertaining, informative, inspiring, and diverse voices of the entertainment industry, with Michelle Obama’s podcast aimed at the same. Open to all, the 300 million Free and Premium users on the platform would be able to hear the First Lady’s candid and personal conversation with her guest stars to show what is possible when one dares to be vulnerable, reported Spotify.
“My hope is that this series can be a place to explore meaningful topics together and sort through so many of the questions we’re all trying to answer in our own lives,” said Michelle Obama. “Perhaps most of all, I hope this podcast will help listeners open up new conversations—and hard conversations—with the people who matter most to them. That’s how we can build more understanding and empathy for one another.”
The podcast will be delving into topics like raising children, women’s health, sibling relationships, mentor-ship, and marriage. Special guests including Dr. Sharon Malone MD, basketball coach Craig Robinson, businesswoman and former US government official, Valerie Jarett, television host Conan O’Brien, and journalist Michele Noris will be joining the conversation. Dawn Ostroff, Chief Content and Advertising Business Officer of Spotify believed that audiences across the globe would be “inspired by these most candid, most human and most personal conversations between First Lady Michelle Obama and her guests.” The debut episode of the podcast had former President Barack Obama as the guest.
