The young female rapper also represents Wild Wild Women – India’s first female collective and has had two amazing releases with the hip-hop crew. [DeMyth](https://www.ticketfairy.com/word/2021/08/17/tf-picks-fresh-music-releases-you-cant-miss) (Driti Panchmatia) is a young underground rapper who has been making music for the past two years. Her latest single ‘[Devi](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkHCDysa9iY)’ is a powerful song that talks about how no matter what life throws at us and how we are treated in this predominantly patriarchal society, we should continue to love ourselves. We, as women, fight several battles each day in our lives, we must feel and treat ourselves as Goddesses (hence the title ‘Devi’), as royalties- regardless of what people around us tell us who we are and how we should act. The rapper is passionate about conscious music and is also a lyricist. The Ticket Fairy spoke to DeMyth about her latest single, favorite artists, experiences as an underground rapper, and more! *DeMyth* ##### **THE TICKET FAIRY: What inspired you to pen your latest track ‘Devi’?** The song ‘Devi’ means no matter what kind of horrible things happen to us, we should feel like Devis (Royalty, like Goddesses). We should love ourselves no matter what, do what we can till the end, and never give up! Sometimes all I think about is making songs and feeling like a true Devi. ##### **You’re a socially conscious hip-hop artist. What made you choose music as a medium to convey messages about societal issues?** The reason why I chose to become a conscious rapper was that I have faced a lot of problems being a woman and I used to write poems and stories but music showed me a way to convey it in the best possible way. \[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkHCDysa9iY\] ##### **You’ve been releasing music for nearly two years now. Tell us about your journey so far?** I started making music when I was 16. I got introduced to hip-hop by a cypher which was held in Juhu and after that my journey began! I have struggled a lot and learned many things in the span of my musical career. I used to work and then go to the cypher gigs! I have learned a lot about the streets as a street artist. What are some that have influenced your music style?** M.I.A is one of the international artists that I appreciate a lot. Her music is just so enthusiastic! Can you share the experience of working on the track?** Okay, so this song took me more than a year to release because of financial problems. But when I heard it, I was like, “Damn, this is something new to give to hip-hop, and let’s do it!”. So, Red Zing, Krazy, and I would stay up all night together at my house and write and work on it! ##### **What are some artists you wish to collaborate with in the future?** M.I.A, Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, etc. ##### **Could you tell us something about your affiliation with ‘Wild Wild Women’ – India’s First All-Female Hip Hop Collective?** We met at a cypher (an all-women cypher) in Marol, Andheri and I only knew Preeti at that time. So when I came to the cypher I saw all the girls and after that, we had a conversation about Wild Wild Women. How has it changed over the years and what are some changes** ***you*** **hope to see in the industry in the future?** I think there are a lot of people who don’t know what hip-hop is and still claim to be a part of it. They lack proper guidance and they just copy the same thing that the other artists are doing. The hip-hop scene in the country has changed a lot. I hope to see new art and their own way of expressing it. ##### **Upcoming projects in the pipeline?** Yes!
