Ain Dubai: World’s Largest Ferris Wheel Opens in Dubai

Dubai sets a new precedent for the country! In October 2021, Dubai unveiled its most anticipated entertainment addition – Ain Dubai, the world’s largest and tallest observation wheel.

Located in the man-made archipelago of Bluewaters Island, Ain Dubai claims to be a premium, luxurious experience set at Dubai’s most exciting entertainment hub. The name means ‘Dubai Eye’ in Arabic, and it is a 250-meter wheel that takes roughly 38 minutes for one rotation. It obliterates the iconic UK’s London Eye by being twice its size, as well as the Singapore Flyer. Ain Dubai offers a staggering 360-degree view of the city. The scenic beauty can be witnessed from the 48 capsules on the wheel.

The wheel is built with 11,200 of steel with the hub and spindle weighing 1,805 tonnes, making it ‘equivalent to four A380 aircraft.’ Its 126m height could fit 15 London buses, according to the website.

“Ain Dubai offers unique experiences catering to all audiences, including luxurious special event cabins; nightlife and party occasions; unique dining and culinary options; family-friendly cabins and customizable romantic experiences for special moments,” said Ronald Drake, General Manager of Ain Dubai.

A Ride on Ain Dubai

The opulent 48 enclosed capsules on Ain Dubai accommodate 1,750 passengers in total or 40 passengers in each. Currently, each cabin welcomes up to 10 passengers due to COVID-19 restrictions. The air-conditioned cabins are made of glass, letting the passengers view the breath-taking Dubai skyline as well as other picturesque landmarks such as The Palm, Dubai Marina, and Burj Al Arab Jumeirah.

Three varieties of cabins are made available in Ain Dubai. The Observation Cabin starts from AED 130 (USD 35.39 / INR 2,614.58) for single passengers and AED 370 (USD 100.74 / INR 7,442.33) or AED 450 (USD 122.52 / INR 9,051.03) for family passes. This option provides a single 38-minute rotation of Ain Dubai along with the sensational view.

And finally the Private Cabins ‘for birthdays, engagements, weddings, business functions and more.’ This private celebration has a myriad of add-ons for the passenger’s entertainment and two rotations, all at the cost of AED 4700 (USD 1,279.63 / INR 94,763.81).

‘A Testament of Dubai’s Tourism Initiative’

Earlier this month, Dubai’s Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum shared a video of him riding atop the Ain Dubai before the much-awaited inauguration of the wheel.

Construction for this project commenced in 2013 ‘with investments amounting to 6 billion dirhams.’ Italy, Germany, France, South Korea, the UK, and the Netherlands have contributed to the technology, engineering, communication, expertise, etc., of Ain Dubai.

“Ain Dubai is a testament to one of the many innovative initiatives developed by Dubai to further enhance its competitiveness as a key international tourism destination in continuation of Dubai’s drive to achieve new global heights,” said COO of Dubai Holdings.
