The ‘Driver’s License’ hitmaker Olivia Rodrigo led the 2021 nominee with seven nominations in the first year she is eligible. BTS had a huge night as they won all the awards they were nominated were including the ‘Favorite Pop Duo or Group’ (for the third time in a row). Taylor Swift took home the ‘Favorite Female Pop Artist’ and broke her own record for the most AMA wins in history!

Silk Sonic Kicked off the 2021 American Music Awards With a Bang

Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak kicked off the 2021 AMAs with a fantastic performance of their smooth hit “Smokin Out The Window.” The duo delivered a sizzling rendition of the song rocking red suits backed by a band and backing vocalists, all of whom were also wearing matching outfits. with smooth swagger and flawless vocals, Silk Sonic set the AMAs stage on fire!
The duo was nominated for three American Music Awards this year – ‘Favorite Music Video’ for “Leave the Door Open,” ‘Favorite Pop Duo or Group’, and ‘Favorite R&B Song’ for “Leave the Door Open,” their debut smash hit that was performed at the Grammys earlier this year. This marks Silk Sonic’s first appearance at the American Music Awards.
Global Superstars BTS and Coldplay Take the Amas Stage to Deliver Their First-Live “My Universe” Performance

The K-Pop group that has quickly taken over all our hearts joined Coldplay on stage at this year’s American Music Awards. They delivered their first-live performance of their hit collaboration – ‘My Universe’ and although they didn’t perform a signature choreographed dance routine, the septet grooved along to the song.
The group interacted with fans in the crowd, who cheered enthusiastically throughout the performance as the stars brought everyone to their feet at the show! Both BTS and Coldplay engaged in a dance party of sorts putting us all in a great mood! They also controlled fireworks blasted off behind them on stage!
Olivia Rodrigo Makes Amas Debut With a Stripped-Down Performance of “Traitor”

The audience was in their feelings as Rodrigo crooned the first verse and chorus of her ballad “Traitor”. Olivia made her debut on the AMAs stage, wearing a simple pink dress with a guitar in hand. This otherwise energetic pop star let the lyrics of the song do the talking this time as she walked across the stage with a dreamy backdrop of a pink and purple galaxy of stars behind her.
The 18-year-old singer led the pack this year, with seven nominations, including Artist of the Year and New Artist of the Year, and arrived at the show her backing band.
Taylor Swift Breaks Her Own Record

Although Taylor Swift was not present at the 2021 American Music Awards she did break her own record! The sixth-time ‘Favorite Female Pop Artist’ winner has extended her record as the AMAs’ most-awarded artist ever, with 34 wins over the years, and also took home the win for ‘Favorite Pop Album’ for ‘evermore’.
BTS were among other record breakers as the septet made history by becoming the FIRST Asian Act to ever win ‘Artist Of The Year’. While Doja Cat featuring SZA’s ‘Kiss Me More’” became the first all-female collab to win collaboration of the year, the five-time nominee GIVĒON and four-time nominee Ariana Grande went home empty-handed.
Chlöe makes A high-Flying entrance on the AMAs stage

Chlöe made everyone scream “Have Mercy” as she descended from the sky, looking angelic in a white latex outfit on the AMAs stage today! A gospel choir soundtracked the entrance as the artist delivered her solo debut, ‘Have Mercy’ with an incredible choreography featuring high kicks, step-clapping, and, of course, the splits, and her unwavering vocal power is highly impressive!
Chlöe was surrounded by dancers in pink latex leotards and bedazzled face masks while, her sister — and another half of R&B duo Chloe x Halle — cheered her on from the crowd.
Bad Bunny takes the AMAs stage to deliver a high-Tech ‘Lo Siento BB:/’ Performance With Tainy and Julieta Venegas

Tainy, Bad Bunny, and Julieta Venegas delivered an eye-popping and futuristic performance at the 2021 American Music Awards when they took the stage to perform their melancholic track, “Lo Siento BB:/’. The song is featured on Tainy’s debut album, ‘Data‘ and although Venegas was not in attendance, her face appeared on the screen – sitting at a nearby piano in this performance that combines wild costumes, neon colors, as well as spectacular set-pieces.
Tainy kicked off the performance in front of his keyboards. Smoke billowed behind him and then Bad Bunny joined them from above the stage. The artist was rapping and singing from within a hovering orb dressed in a white ensemble with a matching hat that featured a green and red light – a cyclops mask that concealed his eyes as all the three artists dug deep into the concept.

Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez took the AMAs stage to perform piano-backed ballad “On My Way,” with a mid-performance outfit change. The star who is set to star alongside Maluma and Owen Wilson in the upcoming 2022 romantic comedy Marry Me brought her character Kat to the show as she changed into a cream-colored dress and scenes from the upcoming movie played on screens around her.
Lopez gave fans a tease of the film’s soundtrack, by performing the movie’s first promotional single “On My Way” as she stunned in a black dress with white accents and a bedazzled microphone performing in front of a virtual symphony.
BTS close the 2021 American Music Awards with a smooth performance of “Butter”

BTS’ moves are smooth like butter as they close this year’s AMAs with a performance of their smash hit – ‘Butter’. The superstars killed the performance despite Megan The Stallion pulling out due to personal reasons. The rapper was set to perform the official “Butter” remix with the septet. She announced that she would no longer be able to attend the ceremony in the below tweet:

The group rocked yellow suits and kept up with the theme, the stage illuminated with bright yellow lights and the animated “Butter” sign. BTS took home three AMAs today and also made history! The audience sang the song along with the group at the top of their lungs!
