Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is a third-person action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment on 11 June, 2021. Go on an intergalactic adventure, jumping through dimensions with Ratch and Clank, as they fight off an evil emperor from another reality. 

With a rich history of stunning gameplay and a very well-laid-out story, Ratchet and Clank has always served their fans! Want to go supersonic? Travel through wormholes, and even shoot lasers beams at aliens invading your ship? Ratchet and Clank is a game you should definitely try.

It Takes Two

Developed by Hazelight Studio and Published by Electronic Arts on 26 March, 2021, It Takes Two is an action-adventure game in which players can either play online or split-screen on a local connection. 

Players take control of two parents who have been sent into an otherworldly dimension by their daughter, who hopes they can fix their broken relationship. The characters go on various adventures and quests, having to find a way to work together to complete each one. It Takes Two is reminiscent of other indie titles you might’ve caught, such as Playdead’s Limbo and Inside, and Tarsier Studios’ Little Nightmares, albiet far less fear-inducing.

The Climb 2

The Climb 2 is developed and published by Crytek and Oculus Studios and was launched on 12 March, 2021. This action-adventure game is a rock-climbing simulator designed specifically for the Oculus, a highly-revered VR headset. The Climb 2 comes in boasting what the Quest 2 can do, with the game giving players a wholly new experience within VR gaming. The Climb 2 is packed with precise motion and maneuvering, and features various landscapes for players to explore – from mountains to tall skyscrapers. 

The game has stunning visuals and could easily present a challenge if heights aren’t your thing. The Climb 2 is currently one of the best games to play on a VR, and with our lifestyles today, we think there’s nothing better than simulating high-octane activities in the comfort of our homes.

Valheim

Developed by Iron Gate Studios and published by Coffee Stain Studios on 2 February, 2021, this survival game takes place on a land created by Greek Gods. You play as a Viking, working your way up to be worthy enough to walk the halls of Valheim.

You have to battle frightening creatures known to be in Greek mythology, travel to biomes to collect raw materials, build and craft your own house, and fight spirits to gain superhuman powers. Valheim is extremely addictive, with a map that is humongous. You could forage through endless forests, or take to the  seas – the possibilities are endless!

Monster Hunter: Rise

Monster Hunter: Rise is an action-role-play game developed and published by Capcom on 26 March, 2021. The game is only available on the Nintendo Switch and is the sixth main installment to the Monster Hunter series. 

The game, compared to its prequel, has new lands for players to discover, new weapons, and mechanics. They have also added new animal companions such as the Palamute, that can be used to travel around the map and even charge into battle! There are lots of exciting new features added to Monter Hunter for eager fans – with the most anticipated one being to be able to ride monsters using Wirebugs.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury 

Developed and published by Nintendo exclusively for the Nintendo Switch, this release launched on 12 February, 2021. Super Mario 3D + Bowser’s Fury is set in a 3D cat-themed open-world, in which the player controls Mario  as he travels through Lake Lapcat, doing various challenges along the way!

Super Mario 3D + Bowser’s Fury is filled with excitement and magic for players to enjoy, while the story leads you to dispel black sludge that infects the lands, freeing Bowser from its control. You embark on a quest in which many creatures try to stop you, but you must save everyone!

Back 4 Blood

Back 4 Blood is a multiplayer first-person shooter and survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world developed by Turtle Rock Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on 12 October, 2021. The game is available on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. 

Players can make a group of four and explore the post-apocalyptic lands within Back 4 Blood. You play as a crew called the Cleaners, set to kill hordes of zombie-like creatures called the Ridden. The game has another mode in which eight players are split into two groups – one as cleaners and one as the Ridden, and players are meant to eliminate each other within a confined area.

Resident Evil: Village


Developed and published by Capcom on 1 May, 2021, Resident Evil Village is a sequel to 2017’s Resident Evil: Biohazard. The game follows traditional survival horror and action gameplay, but enhanced with a semi-openworld treatment. RE’s Village installment allows players decisions, however limited, making the horror of each scenario that much more immersive.

The plot follows Ethan Winters who is in search of his kidnapped infant daughter. His search leads him to the village, an ominous, death-crippled area, filled with new and earlier edition-reminiscent baddies for Ethan to slash his way through – not without receiving some intense damage to his hands (if you know, you know). If you don’t, read this. All-in-all, Resident Evil: Village is not for the faint of heart, but is easily one of our favorites of this year!

Hitman 3

Hitman 3, developed and published by IO interactive, follows the expressionless assassin Agent 47, on various stealth missions to kill high-profile targets. The game is available on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Stadia, and Nintendo Switch. 

Hitman 3 is the eighth main and final installment to the Hitman series, debuting on 20 January, 2021. Travel to various locations around the world, eliminating your targets with ablesutly no trace, take on the roles of a chief,  poison your target, get into special parties with VIPs and get assassinating! The world of Hitman is a delightful experience to players of all styles!

Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 is developed and published by Ubisoft on 6 October 2021. It is the sixth main installment to the Far Cry series. The action adventure game takes place on an island ruled by a ruthless drug lord, Antón Castillo, who is in the process of training his son to take over their criminal empire. 

Players control a Guerilla fighter called Dani Rojas, on a quest to thwart Castillo’s operations, and eventually, the entire business. The game features an entire island for players to explore and discover, with futuristic weapons such as backpack grenade launchers equipped with flares This game truly is bonkers!

Not unlike other Far Cry titles, Far Cry 6 features intricate storytelling and character profiles. It won’t be long before you find yourself at home amidst the chaos on the fictional island of Yara. Far Cry 6 is available to play on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, as well as cloud gaming platforms Luna and Stadia.
