Along with his prominent Maddslinky and Zed Bias projects, he has released music under 9 different pseudonyms dishing out futuristic and pioneering music through some revered project names like Phuturistix, Henchmen, Talissman, Ruffcut Bias by bringing soul and depth to the weighty sounds of Manchester. Zed Bias has had career spanning over two decades, with countless singles, EPs, and 6 full-scale albums on labels like Sick Trumpet, Tru Thoughts, Swamp 81, Exit Records, and Biasonic Recordings. In conjunction with his adventures on the most influential labels of the UK Underground, he has also released some of his experimental material on his Sidestepper imprint. Zed Bias’ last label exploits came in May 2020, with Children of Zeus on Biasonic Recordings for a bouncy 2-step number ‘Friend’; and after a short hiatus, the Manchester-based producer has returned to his menacing best with a 4-track EP on Unchained Recordings. The EP brings Zed Bias’ neoteric explorations to the fore, with the title track ‘Beijing’, an immersive deep-stepper that is amplified by Strategy’s spunky vocals. ‘Just Before Dawn’ featuring G-Force from the legendary Bugz In the Attic crew exhibits Zed Bias’ high impact sound coming to full effect with a deceptively gentle roller starring a hefty mix of light and dark cloaked lovingly over razor-sharp drum work. The B-side sees Zed Bias take the experiential 160 terrains with its drum patterns and dramatic rhythms on ‘Doenca Tropical’, before capping off the EP with ‘In The Morning’, which traverses between technoid bass and shuffling percussions that create an intense web of tension throughout the tune.
